Tell me about it~ I was reading the messages and even though I was sending encouraging messages to both, I think they both decided to cut off from the community for a while. This is why we can't have nice things. I love when the writers/devs communicate with us. Ugh.

I would not see it so negatively. They cut off for a while, yes, but they come back. They learn and grow this way, too. Sometimes negative experiences even confirm you in your beliefs and self-confidence. Just remember that whole ME issue - did they give up on writing sad stories? No. Instead, I feel, they rather started integrating them more. Like Solas throughout the game drops hints. All the hesitation and holding back. You knew that this would not end well, you were not unprepared (even if you maybe did not think about it much.) The writers don't give up and do whatever the haters want, they don't blindly give in to the accusations and complaints. So I would not say it cuts fans off, it is just a different level of communication/interaction.

Gah, for what? That fmakes me sad.

Same week DG decides to take his tumblr down.

He didn't say with what it was in regards to, he just said he was going to stay off of his Twitter for the time being, which makes me extremely sad. We should invite him to our blanket fort.

People complain for the sake of complaining. Don't like the couple? Try not to take Bull and Dorian on the same quests. Ugh.

Sooo I was doodling on the side of my paper and everything was going fine.

Then I suddenly made myself sad :(

People get offended too easily and about everything. I guess people like tot hink they're supporting those kinds of things, but in reality they're just bitching, trying to get a point that really doesn't matter and doesn't interfere with the story anyways.   also, cullen ballroom ass pinch thread? O-o

1. I love you, couldn't have put it more elegantly myself, lol, and 2. Yea they were complaining about the ass pinch and orlesians, saying Bioware was making light of sexual assault. As if the general of the inquisition can't handle some Orlesian pusses.

Purrrdy, I think we all did spend a large amount of time in CC. I always had a huge love for yellow/orange eyes.

Hehe,that's true.But our Lavellans are dead drop gorgeous,so it's worth it! :D
Solas is a lucky one!

This is essentially what they're doing to writer-fan communication. There's a point at which you'll stop buying couches and replacing pillows/ answering fan questions and interacting with the community over content. The more we destroy the proverbial couch, the less they're going to care.

I'm not going to say anything about certain people's treatment of the writers in retaliation for them doing a good job writing.

CASSANDRA: (disgusted noise) They will stand in the fire and complain it is too hot.  <_<  <_<

Anyways. :P

I really do love the idea of an Arlathvhen for the Wolf Hunt DLC. Complete with Keepers arguing about ancient Arlathan pie recipes, seeing Merril and Lanaya and Arianne. I'd love to see the Dalish try to get their act together and do something unified. With one faction arguing that will just bring the humans down on their heads again, and others arguing that it's better than staying nomads.

And somehow Solas gets tied up in it all.  Perhaps an agent of whoever Felassan was killed by is present, keeping an eye on the Dalish.

Yeah but people are so annoying sometimes, they keep pushing and pushing as if their stories are the only important aspects of the game. I think they might be taking some time off to not make things worse or they might just be busy making more content, etc. I'm positive they'll come back to us lol so I'm not too worried.

Yeah. Maybe it's a good thing they take some time off? As long as they don't leave altogether!

It's really fascinating seeing people talk about The Masked Empire, but also a little frustrating. TME gives so much insight into the histories, personalities, and motivations of so many characters we encounter in Inquisition (Mihris, Gaspard, Celene, Briala, Michal, Imshael, etc), as well as tons of much-needed backround information to areas and events we influence (the Orlesian Civil War; the power struggle between Celene, Gaspard and Briala; the history of how Michal and the demon Imshael came to be in Emprise du Lion; etc), but if you didn't read the book, you get none of it.

Is it just me, or is BioWare relying too much on supplemental material? I feel that novels and comics should enrich the players' understanding of the conflicts and characters the PC encounters in the game if we so choose, but it shouldn't replace learning said information in the game. We shouldn't have to read the book to know that Mihris and Michal and Imshael were connected (I thought they were all random, unconnected characters who gave out fetch quests like any other non-cutscene NPC); we shouldn't have to read the book to know the histories, motivations, and intentions of Celene, Gaspard and Briala, besides the shallow and obvious "Celene is a skilled politician and player of The Game, Gaspard is a militaristic war-monger, and Briala is an underhanded rogue who wants to help elves."

If I'd known just how horrible Celene and Michal were to the elves...

I think the costs of incorporating all this into a game would be prohibitive. But it seems to me that Bioware is one of the few game design companies that give writers prominence and in part this must entail allowing them to complete their stories.  Because, let's face it, these are not game scripts, they are stories, tales. So although as an alistarian I was very disappointed with his appearance in subsequent games, at least I got the satisfaction that one of his story arcs was completed via some pretty good graphic novels.

To be honest,my favorite outcome was the one where Celene was murder-knifed.
It's not that I disliked the character, but an Orlesian ball without a good ole murder would've been a dull affair.
In all seriousness,I liked that my inquisitor played the game and won.She was the one pulling the strings of an empire something that Briala is now going to do as far as Gaspard is concerned. :)
Plus,intrigue and ruthless politics!

It's admittedly my favorite outcome as well. I know that some people feel like there's this schism between the Dalish and the Andrastian elves, but I never roleplay my Lavellan that way. One of the coolest things was Revas being able to tell Solas, "They're your people, too", when he asks about the Dalish. The moment where Revas tells the elderly elven widower that he delivered flowers to Senna's grave, and gives an elven prayer for Senna. Or his joy when he puts Briala on the throne and talks with Solas about how they helped "their people". It's why I like it so much when I learned Merrill takes care of the Andrastian elves now bereft of a home because of the Mage-Templar War, and the heroism of Clan Lavellan refusing to leave the city-state and staying to defend the Wycome elves against the approaching Marcher armies.

I think that Revas would be horrified at the thought that so many elves lost their lives to the purge at Halamshiral, and he would want to seize upon the opportunity to help the Orlesian elves.

Orlesian politics can certainly be ruthless. And so is Inquisitor Lavellan, when the cause is just.

My thoughts exactly, both inquisition and even the ME,despite the rather negative portrayal of the Dalish foreshadowes a possible alliance between certain Dalish clans and the City elves.Honorable mention to clan Lavellan, and their refusal to abandon the CE in Wycombe.

Next thing you know they WILL give us sunshine, unicorns, and kittens and we'll all realize what a terrible thing we asked for. BECAUSE IT IS SO DANG BORING.

Seriously, it's why floating on a cloud, playing on a harp versions of heaven sound so utterly BORING to me. I would rather cease to exist than piddle away eternity on a harp. There has to be something MORE beyond that to make me interested in any sort of afterlife. A purpose. A conflict. Something!

So yes, while I'd like this to end in Princess Bride kisses and whatnot, I'd rather it COST a TON to get there, and there is still more to be done even if they have each other. Because that's how life is. It never stops being difficult. You just move to a different stage or form of difficulty.

LOL I told my dad this about heaven's description in the bible. An eternal church service is NOT my idea of heaven, lol. Better than the other place though.

I guess. I bet Hell has Metallica tho....

What they were REALLY saying was, "you made a full lesbian character and she has huge character flaws, which makes lesbians look bad." When what they should be seeing is that Sera is a human being. With flaws. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

But she isn't human..... ;)

I agree with you. But whoever does not understand what Sera is cannot be taken seriously anyway. She is just like every single one of the characters, just in a different colour. Everyone is meant to show that there's stereotypes but that no group is ever really homogenous. Dorian, Bull, Vivienne, Cole and all the others have just the same function.

Next my thoughts on Sera. Spoiler so you can easily skip it if you like.

And off-topic: What about that chatroom? It says there's no one?

Don't get me wrong I like unicorns and rainbows as much as the next person. But people should undestand that DA is set in a gritty, dark universe.
Ofcourse not everything is going to be ideal, and as long as the darker aspects of the game are portrayed as such and not disguised as ideal I'm totally fine with them existing.
Because let's be real fantasy is fantasy, true but there are different aspects of reality, adressed in each genre of fantasy.

I know it's totally off topic, but I can't help but see parallels between letting Celene die to attempt to help the elves and letting Cailan die to attempt to help Ferelden. I'm personally opposed to neither, but one always reminds me of the other.

I still think Addai's suggestion about Lavellan bringing the Dalish to an artificially created pocket universe within the Crossroads would be the best bet, since there is always the danger that things could turn south for the People fairly quickly.

Given what we know from TME, the artificial reality would strengthen the elves, weaken any non-elves who stumbled into the realm, and would give the Dalish a much needed reprieve. The Hinterlands was revoked from the Dalish (if Mahariel made the ultimate sacrifice or simply asked for her people to be given their own homeland), the city-state of Wycome (under Clan Lavellan leadership among the council that includes the Wycome elves) remains an exception, and there's no telling how the Andrastian kingdoms will react to the Dalish once Inquisitor Lavellan dies.

I do want to see Merrill again. Revas x Merrill.  And I hope Keeper Lanaya and Ariane are faring well, especially since the latter likely has "the gift" that Morrigan left behind; I'm still wondering what, precisely, that gift is. Along with Solas, they can be the elven Avengers.
