It's been three weeks since I finished my Lav Playthrough, and all I want in a DLC is to punch Solas.

While looking up the literacy topic, in an older thread, Sylvius the Mad brought up an excellent point. The Chantry Boards point to many Andrastian commoners being able to read. Unless the Chanters keep literate assistants to help the peasants read out the lists.

You can punch him without DLC.

I love that in the videos I watched of companion disapproval, a towering male Qunari Inquisitor punched Solas in the jaw and he barely moved, and just glowered at the Inquisitor. Then a little dwarf female punched poor sweet Dorian and knocked him out cold.

Do you guys know if I have to finish the Last Court to get the Serault Glass thing?

 

Yes, you have to complete the Last Court to get Serault Glass (since it's tied to a war table quest involving Serault that only becomes available if you've completed it), but it'll register and a Serault quest will become available even if you started a game of Inquisition before playing or completing it.

That's cause Solas > Dorian

Yeah, and the notices on the boards are written up by the Chanters taken from villager requests, though a few also include transcripts of what the villagers said/wrote. Hmm. I dunno anymore. Evidence both ways when it comes to literacy.

Yeah I was trying to figure out how literate the Dalish were - if it was something reserved for the keepers and firsts considering how dependent their culture is on oral tradition. If not, totally going to head canon it.

 

In addition to what has already been noted, we have an entry about the aravels that comes from the journal of a hunter, Taniel (so it isn't limited to Keepers or Firsts). Addai has also pointed out in the past that in "The Stolen Throne", it's mentioned that the Dalish speak elvish with one another in the clan, and that using the common tongue is something that's done when speaking with outsiders (which would explain Lavellan's use of elvish in conversations with Mihris and Solas); it's likely that the Dalish may write elvish, as opposed to the shemlen equivalent of the written language.

oh my. I was okay with Solas taking all my best mage gear...at least he'll be well equipped for the road...^{Though I kinda wish he didn't take them cause now Dorian is my only mage and he sucks cause I never brought him anywhere...}

I don't know why, but even in video games the thought of punching someone because their words upset me or because of... any reason other than self-defense/defending another person makes me uncomfortable. :S I can barely even watch the "punching Solas(/Dorian)" videos because it's just such an alien and disturbing thing to me, hitting someone because you don't like what they're saying. To shut them up, basically.

(I'm probably one of the few people that has never punched the reporter in Mass Effect...)

I don't like Sera but I'm gonna try to put her in the party and move around in the hope to hear this..

Just Sera and Solas. The banter with Cole and Solas is a separate one.

This is why on my Dudevellan playthrough, I'm intentionally building Dorian in preparation for his inevitable promotion, lol.

I never punched her either. It was always way more satisfying to give her the verbal dressing-down that she deserved while not proving her point by acting like a brute.

 

And it was so worth it in ME3 when I was able to recruit her. Crowning moment of heartwarming right there.
