What if it's super nsfw because it's cole?

Oh my....  Not sure how I'd react to that. (I have yet to see some NSFW Cole art)

I'll be making a master post of all ... seven? stanzas once I am done.

I know I should be an adult and transcribe my own theories/ analyses on the theory wiki, but I don't understand how to wiki. It confuses me.

When you're done I can do that for you.  I understand too well how hard it is to wiki after hours of lore-mongering when you really should have gone to bed hours ago. Because of my not being able to wrap my head around the Divine Age being one year shorter, I spent five extra hours on the timeline. And another two hours trying to successfully click the 'Add Wiki Page' button.  ^_^

I'm not willing to be the first to try but I want someone to do it so to enforce that no one is safe on the internet.

Just remember to put two moons. Thedas has two moons.

Hang on, really? Why? Is that why the months are a mess? And shouldn't that give them crazy tides?  HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?

I learned to just go with the flow when it comes to magic. I once got too deep on how evolution of the races came to be but a dev already said something like races came to be because magic... So I'm like.. well... ok.

Damn this thread moves FAST!

Just wanted to tell you all, I have the Inq Ed, and was SO disappointed when it got here. 2 of 4 map markers were broken, the coins and the Inquisitor's symbol are cheap plastic, the "journal" is some smelly faux leather, as is the "case" for the "lockpicks," the "quill" isn't even a real feather, nor could it possibly be used to write with, the interior is (instead of silk-like cloth as they advertised) flocked plastic inserts...and the ONLY reason I didn't return it was the Tarot cards. Essentially, I paid $190 for a set of tarot cards and the game. Ok, the map is so-so, too.

So when you see the cards on Ebay for way too much money, it's because folks are trying to recoup the loss they took on the rest of the box set.

Oh wow that sucks. I also saw a lot of people selling the Inq Ed without the tarot cards. Well that sucks. The initial pics seemed really good quality but I guess that's too much to hope for. The tarot cards are definitely the most popular.

Aw... I guess I don't feel so bad about missing out now XD I can't believe you had to pay $190 for that! Explains why I've seem some selling sets without the game or tarot cards included lol. Bioware seems to have a bad habit of overpricing low quality items. -_-

It occurred to me while reading the thread on the Freemen that the mages in Solas' quest might be on their way to join Gordian in his mad quest. Why else would they be out there, and "the foremost expert on demons in the Kirkwall Circle." Not that they knew what was going on, maybe, but he could have been recruiting?

Also came across this codex on the Spiral Eye in DA2, which mentions the Watcher. Dirthamen helping a mage to protect those who keep his secrets?

Kirkwall has been a tinderbox since becoming the center of templar power in eastern Thedas. Of the hundreds of mages that live in the Gallows, it is perhaps telling that the most well known are its apostates.

Ceridweth was one such infamous apostate. She lived during the latter half of the Storm Age and was known for hunting priests and templars that abused their charges excessively. Ceridweth was also known as the Watcher and the Spiral Eye, so named for the spiral glyph she marked near her victims.

Templar records show that Ceridweth was captured and made Tranquil in 7:90 Storm. Many refuse to believe this, so her legend lives on.

Pfft. So that's what real dedication looks like to you, yeah?

I could offer a pot of coffee.

Fine, if you have to go, at least make it to the Fade and gather information there.

THANK YOU, I am just so, so sleepy.

tumblr_mrxr4mctjQ1qmb7u4o3_400.gif

And I don't want my analysis to devolve into GIFs and pop culture. Cause while funny, will definitely stop me from picking at the nuance/ multiplicity of meaning.

And oooo Bannorn. I APPROVE. Also, if you wouldn't mind figuring out time line wise WHEN this is happening, I'd be super the grateful.

Spoiler

There's a rough time reference. I'd place a lot of money in it taking place around 5785 and explaining the real story (through myth and song, admittedly) about why and how the Avvar split from the rest of the Alamarri. Interesting that Flemethyal also has involvement with the Chasind. And that Solas probably went after her hut, being familiar with her interactions with the tribes of Ferelden.

You do realize you're going to be in the middle of REM sleep when a very ill Madrar bursts into your room and starts shaking you by your shoulders and demanding that you finish the other stanzas?

Ready to put your tinfoil hat on, ladies and gents?

So...the Solas chatzy thought really hard on this question: Why did the meaning of harellan change from "noble struggle" to "traitor to one's kin" in the Towers Age?

So far, here is our theory. The Towers Age is the age directly after the Glory Age, when the 2nd Exalted March and the fall of the Dales took place. During this time period the elves were told to convert to Andraste and the Maker, or be killed. Those elves that now call themselves Dalish take an oath to hold to their ancient beliefs.

So how did Fen'harel go from the noble rebel to the traitor? We theorize that the change was deliberate.

All modern Dalish lore is known to have come from Keeper Gisharel of Clan Ralaferin. This is mentioned in a codex found in the Emerald Graves on the body of a scholar:

These appear to be the scribbled notes of a scholar named Erwine Cavy. The elements have ruined most of the writing:
…ow many times have I sought information on the Dalish only to find that it is, once again, a tale told by “Keeper Gishrael of the Raladerin Clan”? We can’t have one keeper from years ago be our sole source of knowledge on the Dalish. There must be other voices in the Dalish clans. Other voices that…
The elves cannot all be as hostile as most would… A dark smear obscures the writing… conclude that is it our prejudice speaking, when we repeat these damaging untrut…
…when I return, the university will finally acknowledge my contributions to Theodosian history. Ferdinand Genitivi, step aside!
…remarkably difficult to locate. I’m walking in circles. But take heart, Erwine! This is all for a good cause. There must be someone in the forest who can point me to the Dalish. I’ll ask the next person I come…”

To have only one source of Dalish lore that contrasts so strongly to previous interpretations (at least in the case of Fen'Harel) sounds suspiciously like a coverup. But why have a coverup at all?

We theorize that after the fall of the Dales, a new elven "narrative" was crafted specifically to raise Dalish morale. In order to do that, the elven pantheon must seem good and just, and their imprisonment a terrible crime. Unfortunately for Fen'Harel, he was there to take the fall.

Many thanks to Jadestone, Moondancer, and everybody else who contributed to this crack-brained post :)

For the longest time I've believed that 'Keeper Gishrael' was a made up person.

The Dalish history also reminds me a lot of the Roman writings on Celts.  Put simply: one Roman visits Britain, writes what he sees.  All other travel books about Britain and the Celts are written from this source.  The ancient authors aren't actually visiting the country themselves.

A massive over-simplification, sorry.

MAN THE GATES! And keep her away from the catapults!

  She's played Inquisition enough to have a few trebuchets of her own stockpiled.

BUT DUDE!

I'm excited for the verses that have Tyrdda meeting the dwarves.

Because if the Avvar split-away time-setting proves true, (which seems very, very likely) then the dwarves in this have no empire, no Paragons, and quite possibly do not worship the Stone.

It's also worth noting that the adaptation of Paragons and Stone worship coincides with the Dwarven Empire being unified by Kal-Sharok and Endrin Stonehammer and Orseck Garal. As does the Provings. Very curious.

I could have sworn people could look at the codex entries even without being signed in. Weird.

I KNOW, RIGHT!? And that the Avvar line is mixed-blood. Which is glorious. It might mean that the Avvar religion has some clues as to what their religion/ spiritual practice was prior to the adoption of Paragon worship. Cause I mean... the primary deity they worship being the thing the mountains stem from? Sounds pretty.. DWARVEN.

I'm calling it.

Lady of the Skies: Mythal

Imhar the Clever: Fen'harel

Korth the Mountain Father: Elgar'nan? Dirthamen? (Purely because Sigfrost the Bear sits at his feet.)

Haakon Wintersbreath: ???

Okay, I guess I hung up.

It's interesting that Dirthamen and Avvar both hold bears to be sacred, and to be creatures of wisdom.
