And they're really asking, "Which mage will you romance?"....of course they are.....

I like the way you think.

I've been on and off about liking or Cullen or not, though I'm getting used to the idea. At least i'm trying. He seems okay, only time will tell if I actually want to romance him. I could be totally wrong and he could like sweep me off my feet, but I don't know.

The romances i'm really excited for are Josephine, Dorian, and Sera (in that order), but Solas is my number one, the one I want for my canon quizzie who is pretty much my self-insert.

For me, it's just that I'm really pro-mage and Cullen was such a jerk about them in DA2.  If he would of been okay with them, like Thrask was, then I wouldn't care.

I'm definitely excited about romancing those exact same three, though. :)

We all know it's true. Right Bioware? You can just tell us, it's okay.

AAAHHH THIS IS MY FEAR. Although my character is a qunari rogue BUT STILL AAAAAHH.

On the bright side, if Cullen is gated that probably means that one of the revealed ones isn't, and I'd put stock in Solas being ungated over Varric. Blackwall... I have no clue. Need more information on that guy. And I like Solas enough that would [RAISES CHIN] take Cullen being gated against my ideal character for a shot at Solas. (I'd probably craft a human mage for Cullen if this were the case.)

OMG I KNOW! I'll probably switch for a human mage as well if he's gated, but dayum, the sheer narrative goodness of a Cullen romance with a qunari, mage or no...just, the past trauma and the angst and the coming to terms with prejudices, I'd eat that up

But I'd sacrifice that for Solas as well...where did I put that blood magic manual?  :P

I really want Solas to be an LI because I don't want all three of the f/m romance options to be big, beefy warriors.  The m/f romances seem to have a bit more variety already.  And I could not bring myself to romance Varric.  No matter how I roleplay any of my Inquisitiors, I'm still going to think of him as like a brother to me.

I think Cullen will be a lot better or at least more open in his opinion on mages this time around. It seems like he'll be more middle ground than super lenient (like DAO) and super strict (like DA2). There was a fan blurb that someone wrote that had to do with that idea and then David Gaider commented on it and said it was accurate, so I have hopes.

And Josie, Dorian, and Sera? I love them already :3 I'm going to romance Josie with a chick though most definitely since i don't really like playing guys. Making a guy just for Dorian because he's that special.

I just need my Solas because even though i'm excited for them, i'm so much more excited for him lol

Solas is so far above the others on the list of who I want to romance that it makes me sad. If I can't have him, I don't know if I'll go with Iron Bull or Cullen first. Maybe Cullen because I get the feeling he'll be rather interesting this time around.

Dorian will be in there eventually. Sometimes he tries to force his way more to the front with his charming mustache maginess. Other times I'm more patient to get to his romance. How much I like Dorian kind of comes and goes in waves, though I always like him!

If we can't have him as a romance, I bet Solas's friendship path will be rewarding! Nothing like getting through to the stoic character who has had so little contact with others. I hope we get to break through what is undoubtedly a thick shell and see the soft inside, romance or not!

Unless he turns out to be connected to the Big Bad. Then that'll be interesting all on its own!

Edit: Also, I'll say that I'll take the announcement of him not being a romance with grace, because I've prepared for it, but I KNOW that I'm going to get that terrible stomach-dropping feeling no matter what so hopefully we never have to go through that.

This is exactly how I feel about Dorian.  Sometimes I feel like "I MUST HAVE HIM NOW, male play through first for sure!" and a couple days later it's back to "I'll get there at some point."  The way I feel right now is

Want so bad [Solas ---------------------------- Josephine - Cullen - Dorian --- Iron Bull -------------] Not so bad

I'm still happy with my other options and I don't feel negatively about a single LI so far excepting the gender gating (looking at you Cass and Dorian), but Solas is so far ahead of everyone else it's not even funny.

Yeah, this is primarily my problem if the LIs turn out to be Cullen, IB and Blackwall/Varric.  My 'type' when it comes to guys tends to run to lithe, elegant, more androgynous rather than masculine (Fenris was a no-brainer for me, haha), so having three warriors as the straight fem choices would suck for me (which is what convinces me Blackwall won't be in, because diversity).  And I doubt I'll ever be able to see Varric as other than my bestie.  I NEED my pretty elf guy

Agreed. Like, I am legitimately looking forward to palling around with Solas. Even if he's not an LI, he might just become my Shale of DAO, or Mordin of ME2. Actually, a lot like Mordin, because I came to adore that guy and would have totally been happy to listen to him science forever. (Will we forever be denied nerdy guys?!)

Yeah, I would be really upset if all the straight female romances are warriors. The guys get a mage, so should we XD haha

Straight guys so far have a warrior and a non-combatant (and probably a mage)

Gay guys so far have a mage and a warrior

Straight girls so far have two warriors

Lesbian girls so far have a rogue and a non-combatant (and probably a mage)

I don't think i'm missing anyone.....

What classes are you playing for them? I think I'm going Mage for Josie and Dorian and rogue for Sera.

Mages most probably.  I tend to defualt to mage.  I'm excited to see what new tricks the rogue can do, so maybe one will be a rogue (quite fancy having a dashing rogue to match the dashing mage!)

I can't make up my mind about Dorian, but this is me with Cassandra.  Since I can't romance her with my femquiz (still totally in denial that Cass is straight, btw), I'll probably break the habit of a lifetime and make a super pretty male elf mage for her to be the big strong protective warrior romance with, lol

He might win me over.  I still don't know about romancing him, though.  A part of me wants him pining over my warden forever.

Oh, yes. I love them, too. Josie will be my canon dwarfs love. And I've played so many MHawkes with Anders that I don't mind rolling a guy for Dorian at all!

Human/f/warrior for Josie, Qunari/m/mage for Dorian, human or elf/f/mage for Cullen, and Solas... not going to lie I'd make a human female mage who looks like me :P (unless he's gated, then I'll make whatever works regardless of my preference)

Most of the PT I have planned (because yes, i've already planned quite a few) are mages, I just want to try out Artificer and Tempest specializations (mostly Artificer), so i'll probably have two rogues and a bajillion mages  :D

That would be exactly what i'm doing XD I really hope he's an LI and not gated against humans  :)

Edit: Of course i'd still romance him if he was gated, i'd just change my canon Quizzie to fit XD

Weirdly, if Solas is available I'll probably roll a female human (or qunari) warrior.  Warrior is my least favourite class and I've never played one all the way through before, but I just love that contrast of the guy being lanky, cerebral and almost delicate (but also you know, totally deadly  ), and the woman being physically larger, tougher, more intimidating, probably able to toss him over her shoulder and run off with him at a moment's notice  :P

Solas/either a female elf mage or a female qunari mage. Depends on whether or not he's race-gated. Those two will switch out as my "main" playthrough. The same elf will likely go with Cullen and either that elf or the qunari will go with Iron Bull. My female Qunari/Sera is a given, because I can only picture her with a qunari for some reason. It's cute! And then I'll make a male elf rogue for Dorian.

For Cullen, I have  qunari rogue (Ashtal Adaar) with a Direct personality. If Cullen turns out to be gated against qunari, then I'm going to shift her over to the Iron Bull, because I think that could be a very interesting dynamic: the goofy warrior and the stern rogue. Plus the whole deal with the Qun. Who knows--I may end up doing it like that anyway.

A major deciding factor in my plans is the mage background. Specifically, in the super-unlikely off-chance that the human mage was or could be previously Tranquil, all bets are off. I'm making one for Cullen. And probably for Solas, too.

Gosh, Solas. Honestly, I wanna stick me in there for Solas.  But I'd make a terrible leader for the Inquisition. Someone definitely younger than him, though, and curious. Funny. Mage, for sure. A Dalish mage could bring an interesting perspective, since they have differing ideas about the Beyond. So, Dalish mage with a teasing, curious nature. (You can tell I've tried not to think about this too much. Building characters and then getting disappointed is far worse.) Unless, as I said, Tranquil human mage. Then get outta my way unTranquil mages for everyone.

I like that as well. My favorite Hawke was a two-handed warrior romancing Anders. There is something about the romance of a mage with a non-mage that I reeeeeeally find appealing, personally, particularly male mage with female warrior or rogue.  <3

Regarding the wait for the last LI announcements.... repeated from the party banter thread.

VARRIC: Well, the horns do lend a certain majesty, don't you think?

SOLAS: Yes... Wait, are we talking about Vivienne or the Inquisitor, here?

VARRIC: Well, why don't you tell me which one you'd prefer to talk about?

SOLAS: .....Nice try.
