Once again this thread has been excellent today.
I just miss Birdy and her smut links, even though I know where to find them myself.

I ship Trevelyan/Solas - as well...in my head. She was the first. I always felt kind of cheap running around with my Lavellan while Lady Trevelyan was crying in the wings due to unrequited love. I'm sort of cheered by the fact that the only reason Solas' romance was gated the way it was, was due to budget and not weird elven glory biznass.
Lavellan gets Abelas. He finds her and they have this ridiculously glorious love affair. None of these will ever happen. None of them are canon. I don't really care.
my Trev was the first too and she had it bad for Solas. She got over it and found love with Cullen, but there was a connection. A CONNECTION. LOOKS WERE PASSED.
And of course GDL wont say anything spoilery. His name isn't Greg Ellis.
I made a Levellan first, with full intentions of romancing Cullen. (Been waiting for soooo looonnnggg). Friggin' egghead slipped my plans up with fade-tongue.
So playing a Trev, was, painstaking, IS painstaking... I have finally made it post-Halamshiral (like nails on a chalkboard, bleeechh.)
It's interesting to get other's POV, just by the order they play their characters. ![]()
okay. Doodle from my class notes for today. Take two: had lots of time because there were presentations.
I want to like this. I like this.

I was waiting for Cullen too but I'd never ever rolled an elf. I'd never had any desire to. I never bothered with Zev back in the day and...I just didn't.
My second playthrough I played another human though, on a semi completionist pt, because I wanted my elf to be PERFECT for Solas and I was waiting on DLC/Updates/Patches. So I romanced Cullen twice before I ever touched Solas and I'm still not even to the Arbor Wilds with that playthrough yet, so I haven't been dumped. I'm dragging it out.
I have yet to ever have that vallaslin scene myself at all.

So nice! Oh, and you can read Depression in the bottom corner... somehow it fits ![]()

You have my sympathies. When you do reach that point, I'll be here, with open arms, a giant bottle of wine (or rum, whichever you prefer), a huge basket of darts that we can throw at stuff, and a good Will Ferrell movie.
Or we can just beat the living s*** out of each other until the pain in our hearts has numbed, or we bleed out...
Yes. Development and Depression. I think that sums up their relationship nicely. LOLSo nice! Oh, and you can read Depression in the bottom corner... somehow it fits

I was just thinking copious amounts of alcohol. And then maybe we'd go shopping. And eat carbs.

Zev is my #1 boo now. I used to just fool around with him and then end up with Alistair, but in the last few years or so - I'm more drawn to him than Alistair. It's more the character than anything. Lady Cousland and him go off adventuring and it just seemed so much more appealing.
That is a good question. What would Solas' drink of choice be. I have a feeling it would be something sweet. Like a good dessert wine because of his love of frilly cakes. As cerebral as he is, I have this image of him being the most delightfully prissy eater. Cakes, little finger sandwhiches, sickeningly sweet wines. I think it would be something my Lavellan would sort of mock him for.
Especially considering he doesn't like tea, which can be quite strong/bitter if not sweetened.

"Looks", eh?
I love Vivienne for that comment.

Patrick Weekes said he kind of wrote it for lady elves. I suppose it was keeping in mind that they couldn't make him a lovetoy for everyone with the budget left, but I never like seeing people discount the result of a writer's work as a "...because resources." It sort of takes away from their vision of how the character is and where they will go and cheapens the character too.
Not that I don't understand the unrequited stuff, mind you. ![]()

Solas loved Violet Trevelyan. LOVED HER. From afar.
Spoiler
Solas loved Violet Trev. LOVED HER.
What's this? Disregarding fact to fit your own view on things? Solas would be so disappointed in you right now.

Oh no, I don't mean it like that. People on here and tumblr are aggressively(oddly) anti-that pairing so I was mostly just defending my own feelings and imagination. I went into the game blind as a human and was like 'urgh' when Solas popped up being all charming. Then I was grumpy I was restarting a character for a romance option and not just enjoying the game overall. As I've said before on the forum - I fully support the romance gates. I like that the characters actually function like people and the writing reflects that.

Solas is a lying liar who lies and dumps people.
I don't care what he thinks.

People can be pretty obnoxious when you like something that isn't canon. I'm sorry you've encountered that attitude. It's totally possible to respect the canon while still liking things that aren't.
I like both things above me.
Not being able to like something really sucks, but I always want you to know I like your posts. @Ary @Scintilla
Yeah. It's interesting. Knowing what we do of Solas, and lets say that the Inquisitor was as 'canon' a human female, do you think he would feel nothing for her even if everything she had done was the same as the romance? Do you think that the attractions of a smaller frame and pointy ears would win out over essentially the same personality?
I'm not a terrible female, I just don't wear makeup and have no knowledge of it

Apparently he wouldn't feel anything romantic towards her, since he doesn't in canon.
I feel like Lavellan being an elf makes a difference, but not because of what her body looks like or how pointy her ears are. Solas is Fen'Harel; he has complicated feelings about the modern elves and I think that's why only an elf can romance him in-game, technical/financial limitations aside.
(Obviously, whatever fanfic/pairings people want to write is up to them.)

With Solas you never know, but if I had to guess? Probably. I think my Trev could have caught him though.
I'm perfectly fine with it being race gated, I just see no harm in having whatever headcannon I want, as it doesn't have anything to do with anyone else's game.
