I like to think Solas ends up being flattered she has a crush on him, especially when she comes to be someone he respects. And she reads with him all the time to make sure he's not always alone. :3

Something similar happened to me. I made Trevelyan with intent on romancing Cullen because... waited three games, you know... but then a wild Solas appeared, with his beautiful voice and intelligent thoughts... I did manage to finish the game with Cullen, but I literally raced through it...

Trevelyan: I'll be back for you in round two.
Solas: Inquisitor, I-- what?
Trevelyan: Cullen, we have to speed things along. Sorry.
Cullen: um, okay... but what about these interesting sidequests?
Trevelyan:no. **** sidequests. I need to get through this as quickly as possible.

Come on, that thing is hilarious. Never thought I'd like a level in the Fade but it's totally worth it to hear him just mocking my team. 

 

I've brought Blackwall and Sera with me for the first time. Sera is pretty much reacting as I would. Love it. Solas is constantly calling her Child through it all. Tsk. Could you be more of an old man, Solas?

And I love Nightmare's taunts to Blackwall: "There's nothing like a Grey Warden, and you are, NOTHING, like a Grey Warden."

 

His one with Dorian where he 'mistakes' him from his father gets me every time as well. Especially because of Dorian's "well that was uncalled for" response.

Solas (related) question: I got a banter between Viv and Solas that got rudely interrupted.  Solas was talking about staff cleaning (get your minds out of the gutter, people) and Viv was being scathing but I only heard the first two lines.  Can anyone fill me in on what I missed (and if this is one with a third companion joining in I also had Varric with me).

 

Solas: Do you require a mana cleansing to remove the residual energies on your staff?

 

Viv: The circle's training in energy modulation is thorough. I sincerely doubt you could add anything.

 

Solas: So you intend for your staff to carry that particular aura?

 

Viv: Is that a problem, my dear?

 

Solas: No, no. As you were.

At first I thought the Legion pronouncing Caesar as 'Kaisar' was them taking a jab at how history gets twisted. Then I see mention of the Frumentarii, which aren't exactly a well-known group. (I certainly didn't know about them.) Cue me looking a lot more closely at Roman history, and realizing just how ridiculously meticulous and intelligent the design of Caesar's Legion was, and how the modern-day Caesar in the game set about mirroring Roman history.

 

Ah, reminds me of Catholic school and our arguments about Latin pronounciation... You can say anything you like about "living Latin" and "historical accuracy" but we all know it comes down to whether or not you feel silly saying your V's like W's.

A lot of good voiceover work does seem to involve being able to feel the scene emotionally. Jennifer Hale gave an interview (I forget where) after ME3's release where she mentioned that she got so into the final Shepard/Garrus scene, she actually started tearing up and had to stop for a moment. I guess it worked, because that scene certainly made me tear up A LOT.

I downloaded the tavern songs from BioWare (which i was supposed to get with the rest of the soundtrack! Deluxe my ass)

And one of my favorite songs is Empress of Fire.

And there is that line "Empress of Fire, in the reign of the lion, eclipsed in the eye of the empire, of we Orlesians"

 

Is Empress of Fire = Andraste? Seeing she was burned at stake, it seems fitting, although kind of weird, since empress would suggests she controls fire, although she was consumed by fire.

So what is "eclipsed in the eye of the empire"? Empress of Fire or the lion? Eclipsed by what? 

What does this even meannnnnnnnnnnnn

I keep thinking that there are too many eclipses in this game.

 

Anyhow, it reminds me of something I posted some time ago.

 

 

Notice how the lion is in the middle, and the section is red and yellow, has brighter red lines (perhaps rays?) kinda.. like a sun?

So perhaps the lion is what eclipsing the sun? If so, what does the sun represent? Or perhaps these are flames, as a nudge to Andraste dying in Orlais.

As for Solas.. He has something behind him, something that emits a lot of light, it was speculated he has a halo, or perhaps this is a light emitted from the moon or the sun. If this is not his halo, then he part of an eclipse himself, in some manner.

 

Now that I look at it more, then let's say the left has a sun and a lion (lion being a servant to the sun?) and the right has a moon and Solas (as him being servant to the moon?).

 

Now for something even better (because I'm crazy like that), looking at the carpet and comparing it to Solas' fade drawing... It pretty much the same amount of layers. Has an outer "barrier", two inner rings, another barrier, and an inner circle with a focus.

 

 

So let's take Solas' card and overlap it with this fade-drawing

 

 

So there you have it, Solas IS the Black City.

And I am 100% certain that all I've written is bullcrap D:

I'm just amused by myself.

 

 

The only serious question here is why eclipses are mentioned in the game so many time?
