I thought so too actually. Still do, sometimes. But that's only if I glance at him. I've come to realize that the longer I look, the handsomer he gets. I don't really know why, just that there's something about the lines of his face & body and the combination of his features that makes him such an interesting picture.

 

Edit: Oh my god I sound like a creep  . Like one of those leering guys on the street going, "Hey girl, just appreciating."

Agh all these cats. I had a bad cat week. My dad had to put my cat to sleep on Monday. My mother adopted him for me as a present when I was 16, and he was just a little yellow baby barn cat. He grew up to be the most empathetic and sweetest cat that ever existed. He was 17 and had a good life. I miss him. He was very soft.

Ha! Exactly this. Takes ages to put on make-up that makes it look like you aren't wearing make-up. Most "natural beauties" seen walking out and about will be wearing at least some usually. I sometimes wonder if it ends up totally screwing with guys in a way. Make-up can sometimes be the girl equivalent to a guy stuffing a sock down his trousers. You know' everything comes off and the other person is like "Wow, this isn't what was advertised."

Hahahaha, it's weird. I was stuck on Solas before the game even came out but I never thought of him as particularly physically attractive. Not ugly, but nothing to swoon over either in the looks department. But then again, I didn't really swoon over anybody. Not even Cullen, the "pretty boy" of the DAI cast.

 

But the first time I fired up the game and saw him in motion... I dunno, there's just something about the way he carries himself that's intensely attractive. It's weird. The guy's got sexy posture.

Okay, that's a lie, I have a blog, but it's weird, and I'm horrible at consistency.  Plus, I went through A BUNCH of un-Solas-related feels a while ago that kind of made me put life on hold.

He's nothing at all like what you'd expect of a wandering elven apostate. I wrote a drabble about my Lavellan's first impression of him some time ago....

The first time she asks him about the Fade, she is simply curious.

His existence, after all, is a curiosity in itself. He is an elf, her only companion who is, so he should be a familiar presence, an anchor to ground her through all this confusion.

But he is taller than any elf she’s ever seen.

He isn’t Dalish, or from an alienage, or even from Tevinter. He is a mage, but not Circle or Keeper-trained. And while she would have expected the sole apostate of an organization that calls itself “The Inquisition” (another contradiction, his being here in the first place) to act all defiant or maybe subservient, the supple arch of his back and the directness of his gaze project nothing but confidence.

 

tldr: He's unassuming, but full of contradictions, making for a very intriguing combination.

I know people find him odd looking but I think he's actually one of the more attractive DA characters. A. Jawline. His profile is really nice.  B. The way he holds himself. 

 

The scene on the balcony where Lavellan and him are facing eachother before he TRIES to leave - perfect(though  a lot of that was camera angles but who cares!).  It goes to his whole air of confidence.  It just works for him.

I get a lot of freckles in summer, though winter always fades them away to very little. I like my freckles though. Embrace them! When my 5 year old niece asked me why I have freckles, I explained to her that it was the human equivalent to leopard spots. It's our own rocking camouflage!

I am squarely in the "obvious make-up" crowd. I am sure that guys don't think my vampire, sex demon red shade of lipstick is natural. I also don't care.

 

However, thinking back to the "bad female" thing--you are a bad female for makeupping too much and a bad female for eschewing it all together.

 

I don't think makeup is false advertising. I don't think the average woman can (or even wants to) apply make-up in such a way that it drastically alters her appearance in a way that could be classed "false advertising."

 

Back to thread: I do approve of Abelas's lip gloss--but maybe is born with it . . . or maybe . . .

I don't usually get too attracted to game models. So generally, I look for characters that seem like they'd give the most interesting story, or have very nice voices. 

 

That said. There were moments in this game more than the others that really read as 'human' to me, and not just animated sock puppets. Particularly Solas's swagger when he lights that torch after the destruction of haven. Thems are some fiine animations.

Agree with you 100%. I found him interesting from the promo stuff, before I bought the game.

I was sold the moment I met him in game, and instantly decided to romance him. The confidence he exudes is definitely an attraction factor, as is mysterious nature. The fact that he slowly opens up and allows Lavellan to see glimpses of his real self is also heart-warming, because I am thinking  he has not done such a thing in a very long time (except Flemeth probably), so it must not be easy for him. There's a certain sensibility in him that shines through sometimes because of this.

Kudos to Bioware for creating such a compelling character.

Lol consider that a good thing Swag has a lot of definitions. This generation butchered swagger and made it "swag", lol. I can't stand hearing that word... It's a weird thing with me, lol. Same with "cray" and "yolo".

 

Anyway, it's true though. Compare Solas to blackwall and dorian and you can see the difference that I think attracts people.

 

First, Blackwall is attractive (not to everyone of course) in the way of gruff stonefaced reserved badass, but the consequence of his reservation is that he seems stiff and unconfident sometimes when someone like him should carry himself with the utmost confidence.

 

Look at Dorian and Solas. Dorian is very comfortable in his own skin and knows he's pretty as hell, and an excellent mage. He carries himself with confidence and it shows in all of his movement and posture. And Solas has this even more. He knows much more than other people do, he's powerful, even in his weakened state. Even with his heavy burden, he's much more sure of himself than others are. He carries himself like a man with power, to the point that when I found out he was a god, I wasn't even surprised. He indeed has swagger. He's an awkward looking guy sometimes, but his facial expressions and his posture shows that he is sure of himself. That sort of thing is what I think makes his movements so entertaining to watch.
