...Excuse me I am going to completely fangirl BECAUSE I LOVE YOUR ART AND YOUR ANIMATIONS GIVE ME LIFE. *flails*

Okay, I'm done. XD Welcome to the thread! <3

I'm going to puke rainbows. XD this **** is adorable

O////O *drops*

I've always been attracted to those with odd features, and I have no idea why. Solas, to me, is extremely handsome. His cheekbones and jawline...I want to nom and kiss.

WHEN SHE DID THAT I NEARLY SCREAMED. They are just so...UGH...it's so disgustingly beautiful. Subtle things like that always make me sooo happy, and I love that BioWare pays attention to body language - especially in the Solas romance. He's already so closed off, and Lavellan mimicking him is showing him that she sees him through the walls and she cares.

Now I'm going to puke rainbows. XD

You're adorable.

Also, I'll never tire of looking at screenshots of this scene.

It's just as good from other angles too (I wish PS4 had flycam).

Spoiler

I have such a weakness for headbumps.   Ever since Garrus.

Also, people talking about the veilfire gif made me go dig it up.

That walk always struck me as odd. It feels like more of a...lope. Rather canine.

Also, is anyone here like me in that they get pushed away from obvious love interests? In dragon age, for guys I don't think there was really an obvious choice, though Leliana was a lot easier to be with and she seems personality and looks wise to be more "traditional" so to speak.

In DA 2, I think Isabella was the more expected choice, and here, Josephine personally seemed more the expected choice as well. Didn't like any of them for romances.

Anyone just bored with the typical LIs? Like Cullen, he personally seems a lot more safe than the other two choices. Which for me translates to boring... I know a lot of people are tired of weird romances where something like Morrigan's ritual happens lol, but that's also not very entertaining.

And beyond that, I think we've just been saturated from the media with their same old portrayals of beauty that when we see something new, it's a lot more exciting. Granted, it took an in game view to see it first, but still. Variety is always good. I'd personally be rather disappointed if all our love interests looked like Miranda lawson for instance. Solas, Cassandra, they're a breath of fresh air I think.

Hmm, for me it was Liara. It may be just me, but it felt like Bioware seemed to want you to romance her. Especially in ME3.

Agh all these cats. I had a bad cat week. My dad had to put my cat to sleep on Monday. My mother adopted him for me as a present when I was 16, and he was just a little yellow baby barn cat. He grew up to be the most empathetic and sweetest cat that ever existed. He was 17 and had a good life. I miss him. He was very soft.

Awww what a cutie he was! so sorry for your loss.  I'm glad that he had a good long life. *hugs*

<snip>

Agreed.  I don't fault them for having it, people like them and they are sweet in their way.  I will recognize and aknowledge a hot piece.  Cullen's romance was really sweet but it was missing that something that Solas had.  I had NO intention on romancing Solas and he just kind of came out of no-where. But isn't that how all the good ones are  ;) ?  I'm glad BW is doing a better job with giving us more well-rounded LI and creating meaningful and magnetic characters.   Cassandra and Solas are attractive though - even physically - just not like what would typically view as "attractive".

SIDE NOTE:  I hate when people complain about Cassandra because she's not conventionally attractive. "We had Isabela and I want to bang a hot pixel babe. Cassandra looks like a dude".  I'm like 'well you're the worst and Cassandra's magnificent and beautiful. so you don't deserve her." I geniunely do NOT understand the complaints about her...but I'm blinded by my affection for her character.

it's that way he walks toward that torch and lits up the veilfire when he tells you about the orb...
Dayuuumn!

Finally managed to get my eyes off those hips for a while to notice that HE DOESN'T LEAVE FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW. Yep, no doubt at all he's using magic to keep those toesies warm now.

Meh, it's all good ;) I wondered about the same thing. Even if my dog could do that, I don't think I'd let him. My world would be utterly shaken if he slipped and died because I wanted to take him rock climbing of all things.

Lord yes. My dog's happy enough just chasing sticks

Re: Solas and pre-game impressions...

I knew zip about DA games; I had last played KoTOR and that was it.  I was just in a gaming slump following finally giving up on WoW and D3 after my sister's death, and I knew work would be slowing due to my going PRN, so I was looking for something to do.

Of all the characters in whom to be interested?  It was Varrik. I saw the video of his and I wanted to romance him. I was sorely disappointed but played anyway. I chose an elf because I couldn't get my Qunari to look like I wanted.

Then, as I have mentioned before, the animation of Solas' face in Haven just floored me and the rest is "HatUmbra has no life" history.

It seemed that way with her stalker thing, but lol no one can call her conventional  Same argument applies though. People sometimes resist strong advances or planned attempts to connect.

Miranda was the obvious one for me. She one upped Liara and already saw me naked. REALLY naked. I was a paste when she saw me...

Awkward doesn't begin to describe it.

In Liara's defense, I think she and Solas actually suffer from the same problem in some of their conversations.  A lot of same "friendly relationship" dialogue gets used for both romance and friendship.  It's fine if you romance them, but it can definitely come off weird if you just wanted to be bros and all of a sudden Liara's talking about mind melds, or Solas turns up in your dream.

They definitely did. It was kind of embarrassingly obvious, actually.

There's nobody like that in DAI that I could tell, though. I guess Cassandra kind of stands out purely because she has a LOT more cutscenes than the other companions. Cullen was kind of an obvious choice because they made him attractive with few real personal flaws and then had multiple NPCs reiterate the fact that he was attractive. Multiple times. Eventually I just found it amusing. Like, I get it. Cullen is hot.

I took that to be more of an injoke with the fanbase. So it became a recurring joke to poke fun at how handsome he was.

I'm also not into makeup and accessories, doesn't mean it's hard to find a present.

If she's totally into manga and horror fantasy what more do you want? I mean, come on, the market is full of it. Get her some rare manga she surely does not have, for example. Or a Vampire Knight box set. Or something funny like http://www.amazon.co...ewolf notebook?Surely you can secretly check out her room/apartment to see what she already has?

Yeah that would be a good idea xD

It's true. In ME1, I was trying to be a decent co-worker and make her feel welcome. Next thing I know, she's pressuring me to have sex with her while we were dying.

That walk... it's like he's prowling over the snow. And the fact he leaves no footprints? At first I thought the animators were just lazy, then I watched it against and realized Lavellan left footprints as she joins him by the veil fire. I think this is the first scene where we're clearly shown Solas as being different. All the little clues are there.

Agreed sooo much. I usually say people like what they like, and shouldn't have to explain why they don't like this or that, but I don't mind being a hypocrite when it comes to Cass. I honestly think people are just too damn sheltered or something when they say stuff like this. There's absolutely nothing manly about her. A strong jaw and short hair is not something reserved for men, and it isn't even uncommon to see... her head and cheekbones make it almost necessary she has that look, and it works really well for her model. She's cute as hell. Like Vivienne said, she just needs to smile more

Not everyone has to be in love with her, but when they call her a tranny and ****, that's when I'm like, "If there ever was a wrong opinion, this is that opinion."

Oh I know that's what it was! I just imagine that someone unfamiliar with him and the fanbase was probably like "sheesh, alright already."

I just found it funny, personally. They really milked it even more with that one video with Cass and Varric where he walked by shirtless.

On the topic of Cass, I actually don't find her to be all that unconventionally attractive. I never got why people were so weird about her. It's not like she lacks for feminine facial features (especially her eyes, which they highlighted with quite a bit of makeup) and a large jaw alone doesn't make one look "manly".

Random but whoever made Solas' model needs to get an award. It is literally perfect for the character. Almost completely unassuming and yet there's this something about it, in the slant of his eyes or in his cheekbones or something  that also says: trickster. It's really pretty amazing.

His model does look incredibly wolf like in some shots. They did a really nice job of having that come across in the way he tilts his head and walks.
