I am always annoyed by the Cassandra hate, because she's such a great character. And it is a little depressing, being a woman myself, to hear some of the comments directed towards her and Josephine. The majority of the hate towards Josie is that she 'doesn't show you her ******', which is just appalling.

[Edit; haha. The forum censor gave that word more letters than it actually has. I'm sure people know what I mean.]

It's probably because she's a lot more relevant to the story than josephine is. I just mean looks wise. I'm sure Cass is the developer's baby this time around.

And I think you're probably right. Sadly, there are some guys who are intimidated by independent women like that. Josephine is too, but Cass takes it to another step, in that she tells you what she wants to do regardless of your character, like Morrigan basically, and you never get the sense that she waits on your every whim or that her world revolves around you. She's the boss lady. She's an authorative figure. Not all men can handle women like that.

And yet the only complaint people had about Morrigan was that she had a nasty personality, not that she was unattractive.

Hmm. Maybe it's because Morrigan uses her sexuality? So it's a much more conventionally female form of power, compared to Cassandra's stoicism and swordsmanship.

My photographer friend took some pictures of me yesterday. In one "candid" photo I am looking off into mid-distance scrunching my nose (I was supposed to "look natural").

First thought: I have the same nose scrunch wrinkles as a certain bald elf!

Second thought: I am an insane person!

The end.

No, no. Morrigan IS mean. You trying to be nice to her, then she mocks you for being a fool.

I love Solas' nose, it gives him personality. Bioware spoiled me with men with beautiful noses :P I don't like Cullen's though... he doesn't have a Bioware-man nose imo. It's too straight, maybe?

The rape of Lucrece is such a knotty topic to disentangle. I am not sure about it's parallels to Tevinter.

The fact that the origin story for the Roman republic was created from the ashes of a woman's body is interesting. Brutus publicly displays and publishes her body in the forum--he creates a very specific (an politically motivated) narrative around her death. It becomes THE SYMBOL for the fallen monarchy and a call for a republic--a symbol predicated on ideas of feminine purity and duty.

Shakespeare's "The Rape of Lucrece" has an interesting scene of the display of her body to the Roman public.

In terms of how institutions (both sacred and profane) get created and the stories we tell --you might draw parallels with the way that narratives get drawn up around the Inquisitor and the origin of the Inquisition. See also Cassandra's legend.

Haha I have not studied this work before! This is great!

There's those recurring themes of "pride" and "choice" again!

Disney because there's no 'overt' sex in it. At least that's the complaints I've seen.

Yes! He looked especially young during the last romance scene.

.......will it ever stop hurting?

It will never stop hurting. :(

I was looking at his eyes the whole time. They look so sad... :( I rarely ever see his eyes light up. But that particular scene..ugh his eyes were more sorrowful.

Yes, I couldn't stop staring at his eyes in the final romance scene. I especially love looking at his eyes during the vallaslin removal bit.

And of course also during this bit.  :crying:

The feels...

<snip>

I noticed that too. There are times when he looks super young. Usually he's got this sort of ageless quality about him.

But those freckles make him look quite boyish sometimes.

Looks like Bioware got the 'ageless' part of Solas right! ;)

That could be. Morrigan is assertive, but she's not afraid to be sexy, so she's not as threatening as Cassandra can be by a long shot.

And I'll be very honest, it's hard to be intimidated by anyone dressed like that. Cassandra gives no fucks at all about making you horny, lol. I love her armor design.

I don't have anything against Morrigan's clothing though. It works for a witch. I'm just glad that they made Cass' armor practical and fitting for her role.

Agh all these cats. I had a bad cat week. My dad had to put my cat to sleep on Monday. My mother adopted him for me as a present when I was 16, and he was just a little yellow baby barn cat. He grew up to be the most empathetic and sweetest cat that ever existed. He was 17 and had a good life. I miss him. He was very soft.

It was the duel that got me. Honestly, I would give Josephine away to the guy. He's attractive and has manners. Her parents did a pretty good job.

I'll let you know. *hugs*

I just have these moments where I see things like that- things that sort of give him this image of smoldery sexy confidence and it's hard to describe, this sort of turned-on excitement sort of bubbles up inside me and it's physically hard for me to keep from giggling out loud with how much this character does something to me.

I can't even.

Right? It's just...how ****** dare you pixel man, you have no right.

Yeah, definitely the way he scrunches his nose.

Been thinking about the conversation people had about Solas and his people not being the Dalish...

Has anyone considered that he agrees with that because he's not truly an elf? He might be elven, an elven god, because they were the first around, and the only ones to interact with culturally, so it's them whose culture in ancient times he adopted, along with the other gods, or the gods were the ones that gave them their culture and they adopted his. But that doesn't necessarily mean he's an elf. "Elven", but not racially anything elf.

I know people hate this idea because it would suggest the Solas they know and love, appearance wise anyway, isn't the real Solas. But, the idea's there all the same.

How could one ever claim something like him anyway. It'd be like some yokels claiming they own the sun because they were the first to make some BS story about them. This is of course reliant on the idea that Solas is indeed something more than what he seems to be. "Bodies are such limiting things." -Flemythal.

Oh and... makeup, lol. I have nothing to add about that beyond I think women who don't wear makeup or barely wear it are much more attractive :P But to each their own, lol. Natural to me is sexy.

I admit, I would hate that. The races are obviously all connected, much more than anyone realizes probably, but the elves got so little in previous games except to be jokes and sideline color. We finally get some elf-centric content and it turns out to be not really elven? I'd not be happy. That's probably why I don't like that conversation with Solas to begin with, at least when he has it with Trevelyan.

Also, is anyone here like me in that they get pushed away from obvious love interests? In dragon age, for guys I don't think there was really an obvious choice, though Leliana was a lot easier to be with and she seems personality and looks wise to be more "traditional" so to speak.

Yes, I usually run for the exit when I sense the developers "intend" me to romance someone. Although Alistair was an exception because that damn rose... at first I thought he gave that to every female Warden, I didn't realize it was romance specific. Anyway, Kaidan, Jacob, Thane- all had girl bait written on them, hence they did nothing for me. Garrus did nothing but calibrate for two games and he earned all my lust.

It's probably because she's a lot more relevant to the story than josephine is. I just mean looks wise. I'm sure Cass is the developer's baby this time around.

I also feel perfectly comfortable judging people who dis Cassandra. I understand if people don't like the Andrastianism- this time there's no choice on that in the female LIs- but Cass is still amazing.

Well... Geographically speaking, Korcari Wilds is f*cking cold. But the practicality of clothing goes out of the window when it comes to mages.

I thought it was disney personally because it was so.... well, disney  Josephine is very very girly, and she even looks like a real life disney princess wih her outfit. She's got a duel over her that doesn't end in bloodshed, and the noble even goes away once he realizes she's in love... Make a qunari inquisitor and you look like beauty and the beast, LOL.

Well, granted, we should probably say disney in the stereotype, since all the disney movies I've seen as a kid actually had some dark elements to it. Hunchback and the Notre dame for one. Hellfire!
