I think its far more likely Morrigan is a 'sibling', considering Mythal was considered the mother of the gods. Fen'Harel might not have been a 'biological' child, but chances are she was still a mother figure.

That would explain the antagonistic bickering, same as me and my brother.

Sorry, grammar people. My brother and I.

Yeah, that's actually one of the reasons I thought about it. They react to one another in a very bratty sibling manner.

Then there's also the fact that each is getting an 'inheritance' from Mythal. And they both have similar roles in the story. I wouldn't be surprised if Fen'Harel was her favored son, and Morrigan her favored daughter.

People were talking about backgrounds earlier, so I thought I'd drop mine. I'm not a lavellan obviously, though I promise I'll make one!

But I still like Solas a lot, and he fits in very well with my character's story due to his background:

Spoiler

He always had a scholarly interest in the elves due to being bored with his life as a noble, and he tried getting close to the dalish clan lavellan, but at most could only establish a trade agreement with one hunter for lyrium that wasn't his. So when Solas comes in and drops him with this big trunk load of elven knowledge that even the dalish don't know, his inner nerd sort of sealed the bromance with him and Solas. He feeds his craving for knowledge, saved his life and dropped a castle on his lap when all seemed hopeless. Solas is my Merlin.

And now I'm always having him take the dip into the well, for curiousity, distrust in Morrigan's motives, and a desire to use it to help the Dalish and learn more. I honestly don't feel as though Morrigan would help the elves, I think she's more interested in the well for her own selfish curiousities more than anything. I decided finally that I'd make Cass Divine, so if she does end up breaking up with you, it'll give my Trev a chance to go and help the elven people like he said he would, and also maybe find his past love, since they were separated by Templars.

With everything that's happened to him, I'd imagine that he thinks his interest in elves was destined by the maker. He is andrastian, but to him the existance of elven gods only brings him closer to the truth about the maker, so he feels obligated to pursue his interest.

Character input from non-romancers is just as good! I love reading it, and it always offers a different perspective from what might be the norm in character support threads. Dorian/Cassandra aren't my Lavellan's love interests, but I still see them as having an extremely important role in who she is at the end of the game. Just as important as Solas, even.

Lol if only the Cass thread thought that way.. I wish people who didn't romance her but loved her would come to the thread, but it's not always the most accepting environment, lets say.

Hence why I'm here talking about Solas instead of my favorite love interest. LOL usually :P

I have the biggest girl-crush on Cass. :D  I've been kinda avoiding her character thread though, because I'm doing a playthrough with her romance next and want to see the romance scenes in-game first.

Also, it's not just elves, but spirits and demons concerning Solas' value as an advisor. Actually, that in particular is where Solas shines in usefullness obviously. He feels like your character's main advisor to me, along with Cass for authoritative matters. But when it comes to dealing with rifts and demons, Solas is pretty much indespensible. I see people saying they think Solas is a jerk and this and that, well you should probably listen to what the guy is telling you, considering when it comes to spirits, 9 times out of 10 the guy knows something you don't, if not 10/10. Some people are just too arrogant to accept someone knows more than you. Listen and learn, and you will grow.

Cass is my BFF in all my playthroughs, She's the only warrior I use.

Always get giddy when she is excited about my human female saving the world.

They're way too adorable for someone who can beat Blackwall and the Iron Bull in a spar     My favorite female in the series. She's probably the best warrior around that isn't a protagonist, judging from how good the game makes it seem she is. Even blackwall said he doesn't fight with the ferocity she does.

That is really unfortunate. I guess we tend to be a bit spoiled in Solas thread. Everyone is usually chill.

I think it is great that even non-romancers can have things to talk about here! I don't even mind debating with people who dislike the character, so long as it isn't an obvious attempt at baiting.

Guys, little fanfic question. What do you guys prefer to read: A story with very accurate lore or a story that takes liberties with characters and history while still being believable?

I'm a prickler for lore, even If I don't know it all. But that probably comes from Rpin' in WoW and being trolled if you didn't follow lore to a T.

Lol you all do a good job of ignoring those I've noticed. Thank god, did not want this turning into one of those other threads outside of here. Don't get me wrong, I am a human supporter, and I do have my beef with the dalish. I also am a little annoyed that so much seems to be credited to the elves, but that's just the way it is.

What's the point in hating on a fictional race for being more interesting. May as well enjoy it and the quality. And anyway, the elves were long overdue some love from the developers, so it's all good with me.

Depends how much. If you mean adding to the lore, getting creative with what we'd call headcanons or fan theories, not changing established lore, then that works with me just fine. I personally am not a fan of "what if" stories that alter history.

It depends on what you mean by accurate lore. I do like stories that keep relatively to the overall world building that bioware has created. But I don't tend to like novelizations of the game, particularly ones that use dialogue from the game exactly as it is in the game. There are exceptions to the rule of course- sometimes people can offer some great character insights. But I like to read new things, new scenarios. Or scenes that don't exist in the game, that might be reacting to the quests without actually having to portray them.

I guess what I mean is- I would rather read someone's complete reimagining of a quest ingame than a novelization of it. Sometimes fanfic writers are a little afraid to break off the 'railroad' that the game presents you with.

But throwing lore to the wind can be fun too. I have read some really creative alternate universe stories. In that situation, so long as you can make the world that you are building believable and reasonably follow the rules you created within it, then its all good!

Honestly, I love your character so much!! <3

I've read both of your fics like a thirsty man in a desert, lol.

I just love his confident side and his wit. I can definitely see why him and Solas have such a close relationship. You should really write more about him <3

His background is also very detailed, love it! It really rounds your character into the man he is in Inquisition.

I love how the first flirt option is basically the Inquisitor watching her destroy a practice dummy and going "HAWT". XD
