I've read both of your fics like a thirsty man in a desert, lol.
I just love his confident side and his wit. I can definitely see why him and Solas have such a close relationship. You should really write more about him
His background is also very detailed, love it! It really rounds your character into the man he is in Inquisition.
 Thank you so much, and love the sketch I mean it, I really appreciate the praise.
I definitely will be writing more for him. I wrote some Cass X Trev stuff already and there's one more story for that I have to write. I'll be writing the scene where he and Elene are split and he's dragged to the conclave by the templars, and some other stuff too.

I speaketh the truth, 'tis most delightful
Awesome, be sure to post the links so we can all read more Conan goodness!
I'm doing my canon playthroughs now, and my Lav is obivously going for Solas. But my trev.. I romanced Cullen quickly on the x-box and it was alright, but.. It was alright. Not sure If I should try out Blackwall or not, I don't find him particulary grand to look at, and I don't particularly like his character in general, but from what I've seen of the romance he seems like he'd find my aggressive/stoic warrior trev pretty well?
I take that conversation option EVERY time, regardless of my intention (or ability) to actually facilitate a romance with her. IT'S THAT GOOD.
I always flirt with Cass as a ladyinquisitor because it'd almost always the friendliest option. It rarely comes off romantic and more bff Anyway, from a girl

Haven't romanced him yet either, but I surely will, because glorious beard. And because he has this awesome exchange with Sera, which sold me
I have no idea..I don't have a tumblr account. Maybe look on the artist's profile.
Yep it was there, thank you Lol I've been reblogging all this lavellan elfy stuff today, and normally I just post viking esque stuff and what not. I bet they're wondering what the **** is wrong with me, and if someone poisoned my mead with elven witchcraft or something, lol.
Impracticality didn't stop Norsemen from having long hair and such
Many Greeks and Macedonians wore long hair and beards as well.
They were heartbroken when the clean-shaven Alexander walked down the line and ordered them to shave their beards to prevent the enemy from grabbing them.
"I thought that's what the giant pikes were for... "
The Romans traditionally went clean-shaven for practicality, but Emperor Hadrian brought it back in fashion when he proved that you can seduce men and strengthen the empire while being hairier than a bear.
Back to Vikings, it's also worth noting that Englishwomen didn't mind having Vikings in the neighborhood, because the Vikings were fastidiously clean and kind of obsessed with combing their hair. (They had special hair kit bags they'd carry on raids. ) When they weren't running in fear or nailing their skins to church doors, the Englishmen mocked the Norse for being all 'womanly' and 'smelling pleasant'.
I like Blackwall! I wish I could love him, but I think he has a worthwhile romance. Definitely some added drama with his whole reveal. Having a glorious beard is never a bad thing.

One of my favorite stories was the guy that said the vikings were sinful for their obsession with cleanliness meant to steal their women
Blackwall's breakdown in the prison is heartbreaking enough if you are his buddy. As his lover...Damn.
MaidenM Greatly Approves
I somehow triggered his reveal quest even though I never actually talked to him. Just dumped alot of the Grey Warden Artifacts on him. I felt like my Inky would've just been like "oh okay w/e, can I get back to doing important stuff now."
Agreed, he's actually a great character. As the game progressed, I liked him more and more, and the reveal and scene in the prison were indeed heartbreaking. Love his sense of humor too.
Bah, who am I kidding, I love all the goddamn characters in this game, so well written.

It's hard to tell.
From a technical and writing standpoint, I watched Blackwall's complete romance on Youtube. Superficially, it's very similar to Solas.
Spoiler
Man lies to you about who he truly is, gives away only vague half-truths about his past, is an "insecure love interest" who protests that you two shouldn't get together, he's not good enough for you (well, Solas doesn't say that, but still), this can only end badly, but he loves you so much he just can't help it and kisses you passionately when you give him half a chance. Blackwall even has a scene where he's about to tell you the truth about his past and true identity, but chickens out at the last second, just like Solas.
While watching the hour long video, I just kept thinking, "Wow, structurally this is very similar to Solas. The only difference between the two is Blackwall beds the Inquisitor before he leaves (BAD!) and the Inquisitor actually learns who he is and can decide whether to accept or reject him. Where was that, Solas?!"
From an emotional standpoint, like you I don't find him particularly grand to look at (I'm repulsed by facial hair, actually) and don't particularly like his character in general. I think the passion, drama, and drive of his romance hinges on the player feeling emotionally invested in Blackwall. The scenes are well-written, well-acted, well-animated; well-paced, well-set up, and pay off very well. They're very dramatic and hinge on raw human emotion (more so than Solas). However, all of that means little if the player is sitting there looking bored like the Inquisitor on the throne. If you don't like or care much about Blackwall, I get the feeling won't feel too invested in his reveal, as my Lavellan who befriended him wasn't. (I mean, she was upset, but not shattered, and I was like, "Oh, that explains the holes in his story. I guess if I let him rot I'll lose the best tank in the game, so I'd better get him back.")
But, then again, we have some players here who've said they don't particularly like Solas and/or elves, but who love his romance because it's just so well-made. So, I don't know.

My friend romanced Blackwall and she did. not. like. She had serious issues with him at the end.
To the point I almost didn't want to romance him. I haven't yet, but I still think I will eventually.
Guys, little fanfic question. What do you guys prefer to read: A story with very accurate lore or a story that takes liberties with characters and history while still being believable?
As a reader, I will always appreciate lore accuracy, but I'm pretty tolerant of any liberties as long as the overall story is well-written. The only thing that does consistently get my goat is egregious OOC (kink meme prompts don't count because...well...kink meme).
I'm way more strict about lore as a writer. It's why I'm hesitant to write post-campaign stuff for DA:I.
Thankfully still on the smut facebook group or I would cry for lack of birdy.
Lol, well then make sure to tell Birdy that I say hi!
Oh and just an update on my Solavellan story. I recently got sick so I haven't been writing too much for Chapter 2, but it should be up sometime next weekend!
