Mine is having a problem with a faulty lens, it simply won't read game discs anymore. I've tried all the possible hacks..worked for a small amount of time, but finally decided to let it go. And rather than replace it (which costs a lot), I guess I'm going to have to bare with it until I can afford it or get a new system (or upgrade my PC, I have no idea at the moment, lol). We'll see.

About Solas builds: I usually make him an ice + rift specialist since Lavellan is a lightning + KE mage, but honestly I'm failing to find a reason not to make every mage a lightning mage. Fire does more damage, but lightning has both crowd control and damage. Chain Lightning and Static Cage are two of the best spells in the game, and Energy Barrage is just insane. The only thing the lightning tree lacks is mana boost/regen spells like Flashpoint, Clean Burn and Winter Stillness. Flashpoint/ Clean Burn are the better combo there. It does have an ability that builds mana from your basic attacks, though.

I usually give him the left side of the Spirit tree and ignore the rest.

It works on lower difficulties just fine but for me on nightmare, I prefer to have spells with more staying power, and with rift mage for Solas, I've already got crowd control. Next, I want something that'll put the hurting on them. His rift spell combos so beautifully with the fire mine spell, and I can spam that pretty fast too. And it's more useful on single enemies with tough defenses.

 

Dorian for me is almost a must that he be a fire mage because it syncs so well with his fear abilities. I do miss the chain pull lightning cage combo though. Good fun.

I got upset when people critisized Cass for being "manly" and equating that to being ugly. I didn't have a problem with people saying "I don't find her attractive" cause attractive is different from just looks. I kind of took it personally because I have a very similar body type as her. I have extremely muscular shoulders like all the women in my family, am for a woman very very strong, and have had on occation short hair. Some of my male coworkers sometimes come and get me if they have a problem that requires some physical strength and have dubbed me Texan upperarms (as a term of endearment). I used to feel uncomfortable when I was younger and felt very unfemine even to the point of pretending I was weaker than the men around me. Now I am really compfortable and proud of my body. Any you know what? I eventually found out that there are plenty of men who are very strongly attracted to physically strong women like me, my husband being one of them. Everyone has different tastes.

I hate that some people called Cass the d-word for two reasons. First: that shouldnt be a insult. Second: inferring something about someones sexuality based on their body leads to very incorrect information about a person and sexuality itself.

Anyways, I am on my phone so I can't post any nice Solas pictures but I will leave a somewhat relevant paraphrase 'I hope you can see past the pointy ears'.

 

Try not to take it personally. It isn't right, but a lot of the dudes saying this sort of thing about Cass are just reacting because somewhere down the line they got the silly idea that this was a dating sim they could control and that Bioware OWES them someone they consider "porkable". Josephine says **** you to the ****** or GTFO rule, and Cass doesn't look like the only women they've ever seen, which happen to be from XXX films and television, and not much else. So they react by shitting on a perfectly fine character... a completely stunning character with an awesome personality and background, because they, like a lot of gamers male and female to be fair, are entitled whiners. That is why they sit there like they're so clever insulting her and calling her Tranny or Dike or whatever. (I think these will get censored, but you get the idea.)

 

But anyway, like I said recognize this for what it is. Babies crying because they didn't get their way, and because luckily Bioware doesn't cater to Junior highschooler sensibilities.

True, I don't play on higher difficulties but I don't even see the advantage of Pull of the Abyss over an upgraded Static Cage. Pull of the Abyss effect doesn't last very long and it only weakens, does no damage. For your mana cost, why not use upgraded Static Cage?

 

I'll have to go ask the stat nerds, but I also wonder if you get crit chance for every single hit on Energy Barrage or if it's just per cast. Because if the former, that would be really insane. I always try to give my mages crit chance equipment since the damage is so low compared to past games (very frustrating).

Guys, little fanfic question. What do you guys prefer to read: A story with very accurate lore or a story that takes liberties with characters and history while still being believable?

I prefer consistent with the lore since there is so much in DAI and so much fanfic that I sometimes can't remember if something was actually fact or fiction. Then again my favorite ff so far is a smutty piece about Fen'Harel time travelling to the present and Lavellan getting frisky with him and Solas together. Hot!

ROFL, thank you and to answer your question, it's because it pulls them a lot closer together, and also weakens them a ton, so you Combine that with the fire mine spell, it will **** them up a lot more than static cage.

Also, pull of the abyss is important for warriors, because when combined with bull charge, you can get Full guard very quickly, and also do a lot of damage. Combine that with fire mine, and crowds die very quickly.

Do daggers have the highest dps in the game? I always felt like cole's equipment outdid everyone always really early in the game. I'd have him at 300 dps and Bull would still be around 150 and poor Solas at 91 or whatever. 

 

I love murdering conversations. Especially when I'm hyped up on my rockstar and want to talk. lol.

I dunno but archers get pretty insane DPS, too. I think my archer could get up in the 4000 dmg on a single hit with upgraded Full Draw and crit chance equipment.

I guess I wasn't counting that because I'm playing an Archer right now and I never have problems getting high level equipment with whatever character I'm playing (because I likely don't craft for my companions very often, except the mages). But the base DPS on Cole's daggers are still higher than my base DPS on my bow. I don't bring Cole very many places (too squishy) so the point is moot anyway. lol.
