I've been trying to get inspiration for what actual sword fighting would be like so my battle scenes in fics are more realistic (though not completely 'cause, magics) and I found this. It's really quite interesting.

I guess I wasn't counting that because I'm playing an Archer right now and I never have problems getting high level equipment with whatever character I'm playing (because I likely don't craft for my companions very often, except the mages). But the base DPS on Cole's daggers are still higher than my base DPS on my bow. I don't bring Cole very many places (too squishy) so the point is moot anyway. lol.

I think crafting can really change the game. Cole is pretty durable for me, but he gets the best of the best equipment wise, even moreso than Solas because I think he benefits from it more. Though I don't play on hard or nightmare, so I can't speak to that.

Do people use the crowd combos much? I honestly haven't tried them, but I see that lightning bolt and winter's grasp are both detonators so I probably should pay more attention.

It really is a pain to come back this thread after two days absens. Stupid cold.

This is what the last scene of Romance with Solas felt like it for me...

>NSFW<

Spoiler

That's horrible! :crying:

So, good news on the sales of dragon age Inquisition!

Yay! Congratulations BioWare, you did it. You got your act together after ME3 and proved to your fans that you still have it. I'm so happy I could cry...

The ending we wanted

Someone needs to make one with Solas modded in instead.

My thoughts exactly!

DUDES.

I just found a song, entitled "Solace", that fits Solavellan so well like what is this magic

https://soundcloud.c...ramorgan/solace

Lyrics:

Spoiler

Thank you. Love it!

Cyra Morgan is great. She also has a song called Time that is an amazing Solavellan song.

https://soundcloud.c...an/time/s-feU76

Spoiler

It's perfect for Lavellan remembering what happened at the Halamshiral Ball.

Thank you too!

That's exactly what happened to me yesterday and I'm afraid will happen also today (and tomorrow, and so on and on ;))

That's what happens to me now.  :(  Have like 30 pages left to get through....

You give cole some fade touched obsidian and just watch him every now and then just to make sure he didn't bite off more than he could chew, and he's usually fine. He hits so fast that I think he benefits the most out of anyone from that mastercraft. I sometimes switch to axes because they hit faster than swords and builds up guard a lot quicker.

Not to mention, there's an axe schematic you can get with a snake on the hilt, and you know I love that  Badass viking Nord axe.

As for combos, certainly. Best reason to have two mages in the party. Vivienne may as well be another warrior but that can cast spells, so I bring her along with dorian or solas and tear dragons down.

Blackwall and my inquisitor on dragons with "To the death" is also a very sweet combo of pain.

True, I don't play on higher difficulties but I don't even see the advantage of Pull of the Abyss over an upgraded Static Cage. Pull of the Abyss effect doesn't last very long and it only weakens, does no damage. For your mana cost, why not use upgraded Static Cage?

I'll have to go ask the stat nerds, but I also wonder if you get crit chance for every single hit on Energy Barrage or if it's just per cast. Because if the former, that would be really insane. I always try to give my mages crit chance equipment since the damage is so low compared to past games (very frustrating).

I use similar combinations as the colonel (I only play nightmare, so I have no comparison to lower difficulty levels). Pull of The Abyss does damage, I even find it does quite some fancy damage depending on the enemy type. It alone will for example kill wraiths (a few of them together). Of course, as he mentioned, pulling enemies together to attack them with AoE spells/weapons is also good tactics. It is the only thing that can slow down a desire demon and keep it in one place for a bit, which I find important as soon as you have like 3 desire demons and 3 despair demons in one place. Moreover it is the only AoE magic that does damage to the more difficult enemy types (Templar Horrors, Desire Demons, Templar Stalkers - at least that's the ones I find hardest and they all do not react to electricity at all).

I use static cage a lot in the lower levels but later I almost completely abandon it. As soon as Solas is ready for the rift spells I will take him everywhere. It's the only class that gives you high powered spells that no (?) DAI enemy is immune against.

I always make Cole a "Coat Of Not Dying" with guard on hit asap. His damage is insane and I just can't bench him. I don't play on higher difficulties either and I don't tend to use tac cam, I just make my boys (and Cass when I use her) as indestructible as possible and steamroll.

Oh my jeezy creezy that's epic. I mean...just...wow. I've done archery a few times before, back when I was in Edinburgh they have a few clubs, but it was with the modern bows and all stationary. That's just a whole new level.

Dayum. This is why I love archers. I always prefer to play them in any game I can, both my elf Inquisitors are archers (Solas Bromancer and Sol-mancer).

That's why I like the forums, I learn stuff. :)

I'm currently playing a rift mage and finding it boring compared to lightning, and I hadn't noticed any damage numbers at all but the combat happens so quickly I must just not have noticed.

I have an archer but I'm just so attached to mages in DA:I..now in GW2? I love my rangers... It's almost the opposite for me there lol. I used to do archery when I was little too, can't watch video though, at work.

:D

This is too funny :P .

I love that scene and his expression. I think that was my favorite moment in entire game.  And that was also the moment I realized he really is Fen'Harel (I got spoiled on this thread sadly, before the game even came out. I saw Solas's name and Fen'Harel in one post, before I had a chance to look away. So wasn't sure entirely, but still...)

In Skyrim I started a mage character but ended up making them some archer/mage hyrbid because I couldn't do without my bow. I have yet to try a mage in DAI because I'm a little attached to my archers. I just let Solas and Dorian do all the mage-y stuff, they seem to have it down.

I've just run through this part again recently and I have to say... It still really annoys me it isn't possible to save the Spirit of Wisdom. It really should be possible even if it was super hard :(

You're not on harder difficulties, so I wouldn't worry about using the strategy anyway if it's not as fun. Lightning magic is the most entertaining in the game when it works, I agree. Nothing beats pulling people out of or into lightning cage with chain pull, lol.

Besides pulling those ***** ass despair demons into your quizzy rift thingy and watching them get insta killed.

GET OVER HERE!

Yeah, I really can't play anything but mages anymore. I tried to go back to my archer Trevelyan and had to switch to Solas all the time and control him because I find the rogue gameplay so annoying.

Well. Sounds like another support for lyrium being the central problem of everything. Old gods and elvhen gods.

edit: Oh yeah, to trigger them meeting, just do wicked games then the warden quest thing. They'll run into each other. edit2: oh. UUuugh...

Does anyone know if Loghain has a similar type of dialogue RE Kieran? I've taken a DA:I break but will eventually come back for my next playthrough!

Daaaamn! That's impressive! This makes me love my Lavellan archer even more!

Edit: You know you've got Dragon Age on the brain when you hear the narrator say "Dalish archer" instead of "Danish archer". xD

Aah! I have a ranger in GW2 as well! :D I never played an archer in the DA series until DA:I (I've played warriors, dual-wielding rogues, and mages). I've gotten so used to playing an archer who's able to move around while shooting that playing as my mage male Lavellan felt a bit slow since you can't run while attacking.

In Oblivion and Skyrim though, that's where I enjoy playing an archer the most. I was an archer/warrior hybrid in Oblivion and an archer/mage hybrid in Skyrim. Sniping from afar is just awesome. ;)

I haven't played in a long time though bc my guild had so much drama that I quit. No guild, no fun.

Ranger was my favourite profession in the original GW too, I love pet classes...so ofc I miss the ranger spec from DA, probably why mage has been my go to class since DA2...In origins I always went ranger :(
