You know what annoys the everloving **** out of me?

 

When I answer the phone at work "Good morning/afternoon! Thank you for calling (my company). How may I direct your call?" and someone legit cuts me right off during that greeting.

 

It is common courtesy to let me finish saying hello when I answer the phone!!!!!! Jerks! 

 

"Good afternoon! Thank you for.." "Give me Joe Blow." "...calling (my company). How may I direct your call?" 

 

I always finish what I was saying just to ****** them off for pissing me off. Jerks.

 

I would make it extra long after they try to interrupt.

Is it Manga Studio by any chance?? Because it has that but for some reason after I last updated it, the 3D modeling doesn't work anymore and it makes me SO upset because it was so usefull....

 

Yep. I've got  Manga Studio 5 I was going to get Photoshop but decided to get instead because it was less than half the price. No regrets

 

What? It borked on you?! That sucks. Is it the full version? If I lost the ability to use the 3D, I would freak..then probably call customer service, but not before freaking out. lol

have to say i don't really understand the appeal of Abelas lol

 

He has a great voice! Personally I see him as what I once expected Solas to be. The whole ancient elf thing. 

 

I like him and hope he has a happy future, but he just comes off as a less interesting Solas to me. The dedication to duty, the grumpiness, the ancientness, the haughtiness and the mystery (kind of. We pretty much know what he is and what he was doing, unlike Solas). Way too similar, like a Solas-lite.

 

I hope we get to see him again at some point, because an ancient elf perspective will probably be an interesting one down the line. Especially one who once pledged his life to an elven god, if Solas really does end up awaking the gods again. I don't want him as a companion but it'd be awesome to see Abelas fleshed out more. There are playthroughs where he's dead, though, so I don't expect anything major. Unless BioWare decides they want him to stay around, then they could probably just say it was "special ancient elf magic" that resurrected him.

You apply logic to this and I understand it but...I've been compromised and I love him?

 

In all seriousness:  I actually would be interested to get his take on the Dalish. Solas' sassitude comes from a place of privilege.  He's a god/aristocrat - 'eewww look at the dirty slave markings', or at least that's what it kind of boils down to.  Abelas either was given into service or at least voluntarily sworn to service - so his take on the Dalish as taking vallaslin as a mark of pride would be interesting to understand and hear.  I feel he would be somewhat insulted by it because of what his service has cost him and meant to him. 

 

The death thing does not phase me. They brought Leliana back in a massive way and she was dead for a lot of people.  Abelas they could hand wave a way like - 'look. ****** stabbed me with a tiny knife.  have you seen my glorious body? my glorious armor?'

Never feel bad about using art reference! In college, we actually had to include references in our final design packets. Not including them was bad. Sometimes I would draw things without a reference, and need to find a reference just to make it into the design packet. 

 

There are some people who can just draw completely from memory. That is a unique talent. Expecting everyone to be able to do that is like asking why people need glasses to drive when their eyes work just fine.

 

I always shoot reference of hands. Damn things.

I didn't get that from Solas at all. He just abhors slavery and any form of controlling free will so of course he hates marks that were associated with it and once caused people pain. And I think the vallaslin have little to do with his problems with the Dalish. Their view on them is an example of the main thing he dislikes about them, but hardly the only thing he's hung up on or even close.

 

I get the rest of what you're saying, though. It's not that I don't get why people love him so much, but it's usually love based on an idea of the character in your head. Which is totally fine, I've done it before too! I know what it's like to latch onto minor characters or characters you know nothing about. Heck, I did it for months in this very thread back when all we had about Solas was a picture and some little tweeted hints. 

 

I also mostly want to know his opinion on whatever Solas is going to do, since he's an elf that knew that time. But that really depends on what Solas is planning, which we don't know. I imagine it's going to be about bringing back something from the past so I'm curious to see how Abelas would react. I imagine he would be supportive? He seems completely detached from the modern world too.
