OK so here's a question, which of these doll heads do you think most resembles the shape of Solas' head?

I really hope that is Corypheus.. D: Too creepy to think about something else!

This picture tells us, that the looming figure is more important and powerful. But as far as I remember magisters, who entered Black City, were equal.

...or I just read too much into iconography, which is likely.

EDIT: about their number. Let's count: The Architect, Cory, plus those three mentioned in the unusual darkspawn codex entry. Which makes five, correct.

I am so going to try those :) Thanks for the tip :)

Btw guys.. what is happening with the thread title? XD It keeps changing xD or am I having visions?

If you do consider manga studio, I'd recommend Frenden's brushes. He does photoshop too. Lizasaurous uses it and recommended me the Ink preset pack. so I replaced that from kyle's ink set.

No 2 or No 5/6 maybe? Not a smiling one and not one with a short chin. With 3/4 the eyes are far too big.

The Pale-as-a-Corpse one from the third set. the first set has too large of eyes. Solas's eyes are pretty small. If you don't believe he's that pale, consider it again when you realize that the screenshots of him in haven is due to the setting taking place during sunset/sunrise so has an orange hue.

It really does sound like a forgotten one. The changing of his form into a high dragon... a spectral one though... the whispering from the orb into your mind, the sound of "drums", which sounds like his song....

Sounds rather similar to an old god.

If this was a forgotten one, the dwarves found it.

And I still think the forgotten ones are the old dwarven deities that have been corrupted.

No... Arishok Sten, invader and conquerer of human lands. He should lead the Qunari invason that a lot of people want.

Hell, why not both in one game? Badass overload. There's always a "natural" and magical threat to thedas in these games.

I thought about the same thing. I actually think the Qunari have lots of badass evil potential.

Kalpernia too, I wish her story was more dig in in DA:I.

On a side note I can I add I was so disappointed to find out in DA:I what happens if your world stage allows Arishok to live in DA2 (honestly: I appreciate I couldn't play DA2 - tried 9 times and each time failed, just couldn't immerse in the story. And FemHawke's voice was driving me crazy. Maybe I'll give this game one more chance after DA:I), as a big Qunari fan I remember shaping my tapestry for around an hour to get him saved and:

Spoiler

I was like: what the hell? Arishok misa clumsy!

I studied Japanese, so I have some familiarity with languages that are nothing like English and with trying to translate what they basically mean (and the invented Elven language reminds me a lot of Japanese!). What I think Solas is saying, assuming he is asking a sort of rhetorical question, is something along the lines of (according to your word-for-word translation):

"Have I become one of these dead elven?"

It's like he's saying, "Oh, is that what I am? Dead? Are you stepping on me, then?" It's sarcastic, but he says it in a language he knows Sera won't understand because he's basically admitting to who he really is!

Anyway, this is just my opinion and could be wildly off-base, lol! ^_^  But, this seems like something Solas could say to her and word-for-word translations just don't work with this invented Elven language anymore than they do with Japanese (and many other very far away from English languages).

I know one of the Elvhen languages comes originally from Finnish and some of the stuff remind me of Finnish a little.. now Japanese is easy for me too XD  ( I am from Finland )

What happens?

So, I was noticing in Here Lies the Abyss that Corypheus extends the orb out towards the Divine, and then it starts to suck out her life essence or whatever. I hope that's not how it was originally used, like maybe how Fen'Harel got his power in the first place. :?

LOL well looks like my crudeness and barbarian mindset came in handy. I never pass up a good fight ;) Arishok was too badass for me not to take down in honorable combat.

Which is why he mourns the destruction of the orb, and says he'll never be able to recover what was lost? Because with the orb intact he could at least use it to atone?

Quick, go look at this portrait of smiling Cole and FORGET.

You should be able to build pointy ears easily. Maybe use some hot-melt adhesive or similar.

*swoon*

Joking aside though, what you said makes sense. But, we don't know. That said, if his orb trapped souls, it would fit with DA 2's warm orb as well.

It was just a blighted dragon, not an actual archdemon.  But I do wonder why he didn't use darkspawn...  Why bother with all the demony stuff when he could command darkspawn?

Again sorry if this was discussed from every angle and I'm repeating someone else's arguments, but:

I think Cory uses some different type of Blight. Don't know how to explain it well (will you help me with a chart, Avejajed  ?) but I'll try: I think there are 2 types of Blight and the difference is on their point of initial reference which results in their impact.

1) Coming straight from the corrupted Old Gods. We know little of it's origins, but this is the one tainting people into darkspawn, is carried by red lyrium, has it's own eternal "song" etc. Let's say a mystical disease, spreading (coming back to my analogy) like a mold/fungus, with Archdemon being the heart/soul/brain of all affected creatures. Let's call it Big Blight.

2) The one which Corypheus is using which in raw material is the same, but referencing to a different source which is Corypheus and his magic. I think Cory could somehow extrapolate some of the initial "Blight's mold" (like a researcher trying to neutralize a poison with another poison, if you understand my comparison) and create a mini-blight of his own. This is why he has power of changing bodies, he's able to produce a "song" the Grey Wardens hear, but the difference with the Big Blight is that he's being this mini-blight "archdemon". Cory's mini-blight though (as he's not a god) has limited influence, thus his dragon is a "tainted dragon" and not the freaking Archdemon, he's not commanding darkspawn, but needs to seek other allies or servants etc.

Does this make sense?

Yeah, I dunno.  Maybe being ripped to bits in the Fade means he can't regenerate because there isn't a host.  But it's probably along the lines of "dead until the writers decide they want to do something with him again". :P

But I think his ability to move into other bodies and self regenerate was disabled once his dragon was killed? That was the whole idea behind killing the dragon which was the One Ring (;)), after all?

Does this make sense?

I am not sure I understand....

So, first I'll say what I think/know and then try to word my questions:

An archdemon is a dragon that harbors the sould of an old god. The dragon can die, the soul does not. If the dragon is slain, the soul will hop to another body. However, for the OGS soul to be able to "live" inside a vessel (dragon or whatever) that body needs to be tainted by the Blight. I assume they use dragons because they are strong and stuff.

I very much compare this to Lord Voldemort's approach (only without the Blight).

The OGS emits the Song - for reasons unknown, but I strongly assume it means to call all its "slaves" to assemble. At least that's why I think it is called "The Calling". Gather my workers around me to assemble and army or something along these lines.

That corrupted dragon of Corypheus is a tainted dragon but it does not carry an OGS. Corypheus himself is a powerful magister, who happens to also be tainted. He does not seem to respond to the Calling like the dumber foot soldiers do, maybe because he is very powerful himself and his inner defenses work better. But, still, he is also corrupted, only he still managed to keep more of his original self. Therefore he does what a good Darkspawn does only he is not aware of this himself and believes he is actually doing all of this of his own accord. And so his own plans are mixed/interwoven with whatever the Calling does to tainted creatures. Since he cannot control Darkspawn, due to only being one of them (as you mentioned), he must find other ways of getting his army together.

So... this is what I think... somehow, I have not actually thought all of it through in detail.

Now, what exactly do you mean when you say that there's two Blights? That Corypheus created a sort of branch? A copycat of the Blight? I am not sure what to think of that because he seemed honestly not to understand what he actually is (when Hawke met him in DA2). He still thought himself the powerful magister. I assume he is not aware that he is tainted.

I guess this should help Maria a lot.

I am not sure I could do that, a Barbie doll is pretty small after all, but with a firm and steady hand you can surely modify the head. As a child I used to change doll faces by heating a needle and using it to deform the plastic. Sure, not the best approach but I had nothing like hot-melt adhesive. So my results were mediocre but if done by a more talented person....
