That's actually exactly what I think would happen if they follow the immortality plot line. That ALL elves will regain their immortality (and maybe their magic too) if Solas rips something open or does something crazy to restore the past. It won't just be the Inquisitor.

Oh gosh Sera. I'm just picturing Sera if this happens. She would freak.

I can just picture Sera setting things on fire with her hand and trying to shake her hand to "put it out". Solas is sniggering at her behind her back watching her flail around.

Yeah, I am totally fine with that outcome. Because then it wouldn't be just limited to a romantic angle- there would be some serious consequences and changes to the world because of it. Imagine city elves suddenly having immortality! That would make for a lot of drama.

That'll be easy. Kill the elves. Then there will be no one left to be immortal. They may have long lives but they can still die by external means. What are the city elves going to fight with? Brooms and barrel bows?

I don’t post often, but I suspect that many of us who "lurk" love coming home to this thread!

Question for the thread: In your Thedas who do you consider to be more heartbroken by the way things turned out, Solas or Lavellan?

I would say they are feeling the pain equally. Clearly the two are in love. They both feel the pain of separation equally. While Solas feels the added pain of knowing “why” the breakup must occur at a given point, Lavellan feels the additional torment of not knowing.

Well they'd have a few years before someone notices. Then a few more before someone outside the elves to notice. So they might have time to prepare.

Well let me ask you this. What is your opinion on Anders? I personally think Anders changed for the worse, however you could also assume that maybe Anders was heading that way anyway and eventually he would've become this broken un-happy person we meet in Kirkwall, without Justice's influence. Even if possessed Solas is one and the same with Fen'Harel now, at some point in the past they were two different entities with their own personalities' and thoughts. To me that's very important.

Anders corrupted Justice to Vengeance, so couldn't something like that have happened to Solas? What if Fen'Harel chose Solas because he wanted to restore's the Elvhen culture to what it was and Fen'Harel used that as an opportunity to change things? However, Solas carries so much sadness and regret I wonder just what he has had to do to in the past.

I would prefer Solas to be Fen'Harel but it's fascinating to think of the other options if he wasn't.

I think that Anders is the way he is now because he was already broken, and not a good match for the spirit of justice. Justice is such a subjective thing to embody anyway.

But a spirit is much different from what I think Fen'harel is. Spirits are obssessive with emotions, while Fen'harel if separate from the elf is just like a person, so his melding would maybe be less... disfunctional.

That said, sure, I do think that the personalities would gain things they didn't have before. Look at flemeth. She speaks of Mythal as a separate thing when necessary to clarify matters, but beyond that, her desire for vengeance is Flemeth's desire for vengeance. The blending of a mortal and god willingly seems to be much more natural than a mortal and a spirit. Spirits and mortals are way too different for that to ever work if you ask me. Willing or not.

Good plan. Because it would take a while to supply swords from melted silverware and scrap metal.

Huh, that's not bad  I was expecting it to be way off for him. With Orlais being so central to this, it sounds rather appropriate.

I agree. I wouldn't be mad or anything if it turned out to be a split soul type deal, but I think it is a lot more interesting if he's just Fen'Harel.

I feel like them not being connected would be an easy 'get out of jail free card' for Solas, where we could ignore any previous evils he might have done because he was either under the influence of wolf god spirit, or wasn't his doing entirely. It also makes a somewhat sticky situation if they were ever separated. I know people like the idea because it gives the potential to have a 'happy ending' with Solas, but... what if the person you fell in love with was Fen'Harel, not dreamer elf? Getting a body that looks like your lover is not much of a consolation prize.

Why would they "not be connected"? You take a piece out of whatever you touch. You cannot harbor another soul (god or not) and change back to whatever you were before. And also Anders was not replaced or a helpless captive. His anger had always been there, it just intensified. Justice chose him because Anders was a matching host, I am sure. Why assume that Fen'Harel and Solas were all so different to begin with? I assume if I were Fen'Harel wandering the Fade I would not just choose anybody, I would choose the best match. Solas, assuming he is the vessel, is not disconnected from whatever he does, it's still his own actions. I think Flemeth pretty much shows that. She is not somebody else only because Mythal is in her, she's just become "more".

I find it very sad that people say Solas (or his story) were less interesting if not an elf ensouled by a god. Why is that?

I don't know about the romance part. Yes, maybe it seems cooler to say "A god loves me" than "Some elf loves me". I am not a Solasmancer, so this is an emotion that eludes me. But if I were I would not care what he is. Because I would not have known who he is (Lavellan: not at all, player: until the ending scene), so I would not have fallen for a god but simply for an interesting person.

I think we should clarify things so people know what camp I'm in and so people don't get confused. It seems we have three sides.

1. Solas was always Fen'harel.

2. Solas was never Fen'harel and he's just letting him hitch a ride.

3. Solas wasn't always Fen'harel, but he is now and they may as well be the same person.

I'm that last one. I also think this blend happened very long ago, and that Solas' experiences that he shared are indeed his own. As in the elf body.

But you wouldn't have fallen for an interesting person. You'd have fallen for two people. If one of them splits off again, then what? He's not the same person anymore.

Obviously, the elven gods can transmit pieces of themselves in vessel form- or at least, Flemeth can. But I'm not yet convinced that means they body hop as a normal matter of course. Flemeth could be an exception because of what happened to Mythal. We need to learn more to be able to say for sure.

I'll jump in on the immortality discussion.  It's possible that it will be left up to player choice.  Kind of like the end of Baldur's Gate 2.  It's possible that immortality would only affect those who drank from the well - Morrigan mentions being bound to her mother for all eternity she drinks, Flemeth mentions being bound to her for all eternity if the Inquisitor drinks.  And yeah the *might* mean something like your soul is bound but I'm not sure what good a disembodied soul is going to be unless souls and spirits are more closely related than we know.

At any rate.  I think it's a possibility.  Do I want my character to be immortal?  Eh, I don't know.  Even having romanced Solas and assuming he is, himself, immortal - I don't know.

Regardless, BioWare may have to find a way to neutralize the Inquisitor.  They're the most powerful PC to date because of that Anchor.  I mean, you don't just give someone the ability to open a portal to the Fade at will and then forget about them.

Yep. Of these 3, the first and the third are the ones I'd be most happy with. The second one, not really :/

I share that opinion, only difference is I don't believe Fen'Harel replaces Solas, I rather assume a merge as seen with Flemeth and Mythal.

But I also think the "merge" happened long ago because we learn from Leliana that Solas' village is long gone. Whatever experiences Solas has collected (as Fen'Harel's incarnation ) they span a few centuries.

Would also make Solas less of a liar when he refers to the gods as "they".

That last part, that is very true. Like I said before, I don't think Solas ever lies, only gives half truths. In this case it'd be very very literal.

Yeah Flemeth is kind of confusing when talking about Mythal. Sometimes Flemeth separates herself from her but then will switch as if she's Mythal. I don't know it's weird. Maybe you're right in that blending a human and immortal being is different to that of a spirit. Either way I think the implications would be fascinating.

I don't think Lavellan need anymore BS though with what she already has to deal with. Not that your ex-lover being an Elvhen God, aka "The Boogeyman" would make thing easier for her lol
