A Cole/Solas confrontation might kill my heart.

Could you choose between the life of Cole or Solas if for some reason you had to? Lets say, that what Solas was doing wasn't evil but people didn't want the change, and Cole for some reason saw it fit to oppose him. Could you kill Cole yourself to save Solas?

Cole is usually right, even if he's off. So if he stood against Solas, I'd side with him. For Cole to draw a line in the sand he probably would have a very good reason for doing so.

Yes.

It would be a bit like shooting Legion or having Tali stab him in one of the torched ME3 playthroughs that I am never, ever visiting again.

For a moment, I'm fully in character and gun him down, obeying the 'cold calculus of war'. Shepard can feel sorry for Legion later, right now, Rannoch needs to be saved, so that the Flotilla will fight alongside the rest of the galaxy to save them all. One lovable synthetic's life is nothing compared to that weight on the scales.

The next, I'm myself again, hysterically sobbing and throwing the controller through the window and declaring war on Canada and getting the dogs really excited and barking, all of which vexes the cats.

If the change Solas was trying to bring about turned out badly, there would be words.

I know. That's what would be so heartbreaking.  Oh god.  I don't even want to think about what a horrible confrontation that would be.  There would have to be an option of me curling up into a little ball and ignoring it.

Can I just say that this would be my worst nightmare as concerns a choice in this game? I remember someone asked whether we could step over the bodies of our companions to side with Solas, and because that number included Cole...no way. Much as I love Solas, I wouldn't be able to hurt Cole to help him. And after that particular banter between the two of them (Cole: "I'll try not to die,  Solas: "Please, do that.") I don't think Solas would ultimately want us to either.

I would save Cole. Cole must be protected at all costs.

Seriously, I could title my play through: "Dragon Age Inquisition: Make Cole Happy"

That's the thing. I don't think Solas would ever really forgive you if you were willing to throw away your principles and the lives of others for him.  It would be an incredibly damaged relationship if he stayed...and I just don't think he would.

I think it's funny how he says that as if it wouldn't be so bad. Which I guess for him it might not.

I agree. And Cole is very attached to Solas too, and he seems to think that Solas was in the right about whatever it was he did in the past that Solas feels guilty about. I imagine it would take something serious for Cole to turn against him. So if Cole got to the point where he wanted to oppose Solas, I would think that Solas really is far gone enough to side against him.

Which is probably why he left Lavellan behind.

Well, your guys' Lavellan, anyhow.  :P

Mine was probably a little too ruthless for him.   Her inspiration was, "What if Javik had pointy ears and was a Dalish Keeper?"  B)

Absolutely. We've seen that selfish behaviors result in heavy disapproval from Solas, especially when such actions hurt others or are morally reprehensible without reason. It would be difficult for me to see him being all right with or respecting an Inquisitor who would throw away the lives of others (especially the exceptional members of the inner circle like Cole, Cassandra, and the rest) for a personal reason. It would have to be something huge, something for the greater good, and even though...I don't know.

Have a little bit of an in progress of my dread wolf drawing. There will be a background, but not planning on inking it. Probably spooky smoke and spirit things.

I'm trying to get the six-eyed look to fit the drawing, but so far I haven't liked the designs I came up with. I'll try again tomorrow, but this is the normal looking wolf version:

I love that he's still wearing the wolf-tooth necklace. I half expected the Dread Wolf to have an elf-jawbone necklace.

(Um, is it bad that I actually find that idea hilarious? )

I made Cole more human.  I don't think there's a right/wrong answer in the game - it's up to the player to determine what feels right/wrong to them.  In my mage playthrough I made him more spirit and I dunno...it felt off to me. He's happy, certainly, but it felt off.  So in my Lavellan playthrough - she's a rogue - I just did what felt right and made him more human.  Regardless, he's a "person" either way.  You're just deciding to let him feel more complex emotions(including pain, sorrow, despair which is why he is more sad) or let him return to more like he was before.

I absolutely died of "cuteness" at the end party - if you take him to battle Corypheus - and he resists being "bound".  He's so proud of himself  talking about how he knew who he was.  I wanted to hug him.

This. Cole pretty much saved the celebratory party for my Lavellan. Helped pull her back from the pit caused by Solas's absence. Man I love Cole.

My Human! Cole playthrough hasn't gotten to the end yet. I've seen his reaction at the party, but what does he say to Cornflakes in the actual battle?

Spirit!Cole gave me chills and one of my favorite moments in all of Dragon Age. I actually stood up and cheered after a moment of shocked delight.

CORYPHEUS: I will bind you, demon, as I have bound so many of your kind before!

COLE: No. I am unbound, and you are undone.

So I felt we didn't expand the on the broodmother reproductive process yesterday so I create an artistic rendering of the mating ritual. I based it on toads.

So I finished the game last night and I still can't believe that Solas is the Dread Wolf. I wonder what are his plans now?

I'm a bit ashamed of myself. I have never played any other origin story than female Cousland marrying Alistair and being king.

So I never knew anything about the other stories. I'm playing a female city elf for the first time.

So Cole is awesome no matter what in this scene.

Flabbadence...No.

No.

They share a smoke afterward. Before being eaten by the winners of the grub deathmatches.
