Side-note, I'm reminded of the Void in Wheel of Time. Namely, a technique for maintaining serenity in dangerous situations like deadly combat or being a character in Wheel of Time. Specifically, the character picturing a fire in a Void, and feeding all of the fears and worries into the fire, until there's nothing left but the Void and icy calm.

Main-note, what the devil is the Void? It's obviously important. It's apparently the source of the Blight. It may have been home to the Forgotten Ones. I'd like to send a firmly worded letter to the writers.

I've only ever played DA:O once too, as a Cousland. I'm pretty new to the fandom actually, since my brother downloaded Origins on a whim last summer vacation, which happened just a few months ago.

My friend that asked me to torment him as much as possible with DA that I mentioned like five hundred pages ago  asked for help with choosing who to support, Harrowmount or Bhelen.

I said, "Go play the Dwarf Commoner Origin."

Afterward, he was somewhat confused, and upset at the general social injustice in Orzammar.

"Okay, now go play Dwarf Noble."

Cue the Bhelen hatred, the regret for going against the sweethearted Rica's lover, and the disheartening strengthening of the social injustice in the epilogue.

I always buy two games because Bioware refuses to give me good hair. Its annoying

So, I was looking over the sketch mural that many think is Solas in dragon wolf form. Has anyone considered that is it is Solas in dragon form, that the reason it lacks wings is because he is male? Sense male dragons can not fly and what not?

Lol, aww! Thank you, I'm quite surprised Conan isn't here making a comment about Halinia vs.his IQ.

 

It was weird seeing her without her vallaslin, which some of us here could probably say for all our elves. After all we spent so much time with their vallaslin and then to remove it, well at first I thought Halinia looked extremely plain...but I kind of like this version of her.

 

Were you guys thrown off by the different appearance of your Lavellan when she had her vallaslin removed?

I didn't have it removed, since that fit with my Lavellan's backstory better. But I imagine it would have been pretty shocking, because she has the half-faced Elgar'nan one. I can't even imagine her face without it

Haha, I took Solas with me to Crestwood to take care of the rift - which, I always do anyway, but in the dwarven ruins I got a different dialogue from him. Instead of Cole saying "where are we going?" Solas goes: "These ruins are endless. How much farther to the surface?" I just about lol'd, he sounded just a bit frustrated and antsy. It's like he was saying: "I don't like the underground GET ME THE **** OUT." XD

Lore question by the way:

 

Did blood magic already exist during the time of Arlathan?

 

When you ask Solas about blood magic, he says he doesn't use it because it dampens a mage's connection to the Fade. And I'm assuming the Veil was much thinner during the time of Arlathan, so cutting that connection off just seems unnecessary and counter intuitive to  elven magic.

 

I don't know, maybe the appearance of blood magic even ties into the taint and the betrayal Flemeth talks about.

My Lavellan started out as a cold and distant character, but when she grew closer to Solas...he made those walls come down and she started to become warm and happy. However, you guys know how that romance ends. So, Halinia is even more distant than she was ever before and let's just say a reunion between her and Solas is not going to have her jumping into his arms.

 

Yeah, it was pretty odd. I was around a 100 hours in when that happened, so it was quite the change.

I'm just getting more and more convinced the Black City's deep underground, and that's where he locked the other gods. Hell, I wouldn't want to be stuck with darkspawn and my vengeful ancient enemies where the light doesn't shine either.
