This is an interesting thought. But if it's true I wonder why Solas did not try to help his friend? Could she not have been "transformed back" into her previous self in that case?
I think that was originally the goal, when Quizzy decides to break the summoning circle, but the spirit is already too devastated once we have done it. After all... she regains her true form, but just to beg Solas to bring her to death. I think she does not have enough strength to keep her previous self, after all the suffering the mages brought on her, she's broken.

I'm late to the vallaslin discussion (damn you sleep! *shakes fist*) but I'll throw my half a cent in anyway.
I always take it off and I do it for the most OOC reason .. I don't like the way it looks. I put it on and usually use the the forehead+cheek Mythal design and I make it as dark as possible because it's culturally significant to the character. I actually disliked that you could make a Dalish elf in DAO *without* the vallaslin. But I personally dislike it. So when Solas was like, Hey I can take that off, I was going really? Yes! I mean uh, I don't know uh I've had these for awhile hmm oh okay take it off (yes!).
Ah, a song without sound, I see. Yeah, that's just what I had in mind.
I forgot to add I'm just a lyricist, not skilled with the actual musical side to it. Though I'm a decent singer for a non professional amateur. Supposedly.

Comparing Cole, Wisdom, and Justice

I don't think Cole was ever a demon. True, he was a serial killer for a time, but he was still in a way helping the only way he knew how, so he was still fulfilling his purpose as a Spirit of Compassion. I think the reason why the Litany was able to bind him wasn't because he was a demon, but because everyone around him, including his only friend Rhys, had started thinking of him as one, and as Solas says, spirits can turn into demons if people begin to perceive them as such. And that's pretty much what happens to Cole, and why his personal quest is necessary. He needs to reassure himself of his identity, either as a human or a spirit. Otherwise, he's unbound, his identity flimsy and easy enough to manipulate for someone with enough power to do so. But he never really becomes a demon.
Justice... At first I wondered whether he really did turn into a demon or not, but now I have to agree he did become Vengeance. He did blow up the Kirkwall Chantry after all, and while it can be argued it was in a way a strategic move, mostly it's just a desperate one borne out of hate and impatience, which is exactly what Vengeance is. And Anders says himself that they can't be separated now, partly because they don't want to be. That means Justice now identifies as Vengeance, even if he would probably still call himself Justice, because Vengeance is Justice in his eyes now.
Wisdom crossed the line into demonhood as well, turning into Pride, and again I think once you cross that line, you can never go back. Humans can grow from their mistakes, but a spirit's supposed to remain pure, true to their purpose, and the second they aren't any longer, they can never reclaim what they once were, because they're now wholly changed. And rather than keep on being corrupted, Wisdom chooses to die.

GOD I hate those Kirkwall mages.
I used to view it as Anders corrupting Justice with his hatred for Templars, but the more I replay Awakening and DA2, the more I feel like it's Justice being corrupted by being in the physical world and not the Fade, and dragging Anders down with him. Even when he's just wandering, Justice shows shades of what he'll become, while Anders is his sardonic, bitter self.
It's the spirit lacking a sense of time that makes Anders take more desperate measures faster, and refuse any compromise. In the Rival path, Vengeance outright seizing control and blacking Anders out to blow up the Chantry paints a really horrifying picture of Anders having basically become the abomination he had been fighting so hard to prevent.
Cole having to settle down on a personality so he couldn't be defined by someone trying to bind him makes perfect sense.
I felt bad for Wisdom. I can't imagine the brutality of losing one of your only friends in the world, especially if your friendship is older than most civilizations.

What if this isn't the first time Solas has gone to sleep and then woken up. I think of this mostly because if Solas has only been asleep for a thousand years and it's been more than a thousand years since the elves were enslaved. I really don't see Solas putting up with a bunch of humans waltzing in and rounding up the elves and making them all slaves. Whether Tevinter was responsible for the destruction of Arlathan or not we can be pretty certain that Tevinter did round up a good chunk of the elves and enslave them.
I can't find a date because we don't really know when Arlathan was destroyed but sometime between -1195 Ancient (Tevinter Imperium founded) and -395 Ancient (First Blight begins) - the elves were enslaved. If we go with the premise that Solas would have done something about it if he'd been around then I think it's safe to assume that he wasn't. He was either asleep or otherwise very occupied.
What if Solas was the one behind Andraste. Not Andraste herself but pulling the strings as it were. Then, the elves were free, had a new homeland. Problem solved, go to sleep (or back to sleep).
This is a bit simplistic but I try not to put a huge amount of details into theories as there's just too much we don't know. It just occurred to me when I read on this thread that the devs/writers say Solas has only been asleep for a thousand years and given his beliefs on personal freedom I just don't see him standing back and doing nothing while the Tevinter Imperium rounded up (almost) all of the elves and enslaved them. And if this theory has been brought up before then cool!

Ahh .. nice. But I don't know, weak or not I just don't see him sitting on the sidelines unless he was completely unconscious or restrained somehow.
