Ahh .. nice.  But I don't know, weak or not I just don't see him sitting on the sidelines unless he was completely unconscious or restrained somehow.

That could be exactly how it was? He was weak enough waking up recently to think giving Corphyfish his orb was a great plan. Regardless of his intentions or however that encounter happened. Plus he doesn't really seem too concerned with the blight of the Dalish in modern times. To be honest, If he HAD to go asleep right after the whole sealing-the-gods away scenario; i'm going to assume he didn't have much power at the time and he had to sleep for a thousand years, just to recuperate even abit.

Than stop talking and make a real song of that! There's surely some melody you can adopt for it.

Lol I guess, but it's supposed to be a freestyle heat of the moment thing, no music ;) That's why I mentioned a cappella, lol.

If someone thinks they can sync up a rap beat to it and thinks they can perform it, I'll give them permission to do so. We can talk about how the tempo for it is supposed to be and so on in a PM if someone was actually serious about doing so.

I think Solas would have been more annoyed about the Dales being roflstomped if he had a hand in creating it.

I used to view it as Anders corrupting Justice with his hatred for Templars, but the more I replay Awakening and DA2, the more I feel like it's Justice being corrupted by being in the physical world and not the Fade, and dragging Anders down with him. Even when he's just wandering, Justice shows shades of what he'll become, while Anders is his sardonic, bitter self.

It's the spirit lacking a sense of time that makes Anders take more desperate measures faster, and refuse any compromise. In the Rival path, Vengeance outright seizing control and blacking Anders out to blow up the Chantry paints a really horrifying picture of Anders having basically become the abomination he had been fighting so hard to prevent.

Cole having to settle down on a personality so he couldn't be defined by someone trying to bind him makes perfect sense.

I felt bad for Wisdom. I can't imagine the brutality of losing one of your only friends in the world, especially if your friendship is older than most civilizations. :(

I'm still going with Anders and Justice corrupting each other equally, with a nice bit of Taint thrown into the mix. They both show shades of what they'll become in Awakening. Justice has this one track mind, as spirits should, and he does rile Anders up, questioning him why he keeps running away instead of helping mages. Anders, in turn, really hates templars. Heck, the first scene we ever see him, he's setting templars aflame, and while he's a joker throughout Awakenings, it doesn't take much digging for that hate to emerge. So they're pretty much both to blame.

And Wisdom's friendship with Solas, gah. The first time I played through All New, Faded for Her, I was only a little bit sad. Mostly, I was just shocked at Solas. Because wow, he was really angry, angrier than with the Wardens even. And I think it was only then that I started really thinking of spirits as people (Cole's an exception though. Always loved Cole, even from Asunder). But then I reached the ending, and I learned Solas was actually Fen'Harel, and now I can't go through his personal quest without wanting to thrash the walls because OH MY GOD, they must have been friends for so very long, one of the few friends he has left, and to have all that suddenly taken away like that because of some ignorant human mages just fucks. me. up. She must have felt so much pain, and Solas so much guilt, because he must have felt as though he's betrayed her somehow. If only he had gotten there sooner, maybe if he had pushed the Inquisitor to get there faster...

I tried once to get some people together to sing a song in elvish (it's not written yet) to gift to the devs but alas, nobody wanted to sing with me. Or write it. Lol.

And speaking of Blackwall, there's a good point for team optimism. When Blackwall's secret comes out, remember what Solas says?

"I was wrong, you and I are nothing alike at all."

It's very much what he means by that, of course, if he means he would never let anyone take a fall for him yes, if it means he would allow someone to take a fall for him in order to achieve his objective, then no.

He could also mean that he would never pretend to be anything other than what he actually is... Solas bends the truth but he never outright lies...

As usual with Solas, it all depends on interpretation and context and we are only seeing a tiny portion of the mosaic.

I think that it could also mean that while both men betrayed those closest to them, ran away and changed their names, Solas did so because the other Elven Gods were out of control and causing harm to the People by their actions, whereas Blackwall did so for money and let his men take the fall for him.

Likewise, while Solas might not have come clean to anyone about who he is or what he did, he at least never pretended to be a good man like Blackwall had for so many years, since he never saw his past actions as being "good", just something that was necessary.

(Not to throw hate on Blackwall, since he did legitimately become a good man in the end, but his initial betrayal was far more self-serving than Solas')

It's been more than a thousand years since he sealed the gods away.  We're not exactly sure when he did that (if he did that though all evidence we have suggests he did).  But it was probably done sometime between -3100 Ancient (Humans explore Thedas) and -1195 Ancient (Tevinter Imperium founded).  I use those dates as references because if we go by the lore/codex available in game (which can be shaky but it's all we have) then the elven gods were still around when elves first met humans but by the time Tevinter popped up and rolled in to enslave the elves the elven gods were gone.

If it's accurate that Solas has only been asleep for a thousand years AND that he's woken up relatively recently (within the past few decades) then he didn't go to sleep right after he closed away the gods because it's been a lot longer than a thousand years.

If anyone on the forums was going to do anything like that, they'd certainly be in this thread, lol. Lots of talented people here. Like the one user (sorry I forgot your name!) That makes those tribute videos.

You mean that's not normal?

I would show you a pic but on my phone everything ends up a much larger size than you guys need on here and when I edit the image smaller on my phone it takes out all the detail.

Or maybe not. What's this look like on a laptop? Is it an appropriate size?

Eh.. Yeah the dates might get screwed up. But I still don't think he had a hand in the Elves freeing themselves/rebellion or whatever It was. Doesn't he say that the city the elves remade was only a echo of Arlathan? And he refers to them as children or something? I just remember a comment where he wasn't too into them attempting to re-make their empire, but that could've just been because he thinks he is the only person who can save the elves, or return them to how they were.

Now that I think about it, Solas says alot of incriminating off-handed comments, like sheesh.

Yeah he called Halamshiral (which had been the capital of the Elven Dales) a fumbling attempt to recreate Arlathan.  But then if you take him to Elgar'nan's Bastion in the Emerald Graves he'll say, My people built a life here .. it must have been something to see.  And there's just this sense of wonder and regret in his voice.  Our boy Solas has such conflicting feelings about modern elves.  Even the elves of the Elven Dales weren't "ancient elves" to him even if they're really old by current standards.  I mean, that was what?  700 years ago or so?  The Exalted March against the Dales was in the Glory Age I think.

IS THAT A TIMELINE QUESTION I DETECT?

QUICK, TO THE HISTORY NERDMOBILE!

Arlathan is founded as the base date.

4500 years later, the Neromenians lead the charge as humans migrate into Thedas.

4750. The Quickening. The elves withdraw from human contact. This might be made up.

4800: Old Gods whisper to Neromenian Dreamers.

5185: The Alamarri leave the rest of the tribes behind and move to Ferelden, fleeing a 'shadow goddess' that Solas mentions as being a lonely spirit.

5785: The Avvar break-off. Believed to be the point at which The Saga of Tyrdda Bright-Axe takes place.

6005: Thalsian uses blood magic, fueling Neromenian power.

6405: Tevinter Imperium founded.

6619: War between Arlathan and the Tevinter Imperium.

6625: Arlathan is sunk into the earth by the Imperium, according to legend, and the elves are enslaved.

7440: (1000 years before Inquisition) The Cult of the Maker spreads in the South. Archon Hessarian converts and reveals Maferath's treachery. Andraste's rise and fall occurred within the past twenty years. It is around this time (7465) that Andraste's Ashes disappear.

Elessara, the Fall of the Dales took place 7709-7719, in the Glory Age as you say. :)

Yeah I see you're using the elven calendar.  I tend to use the Chantry one as it breaks things up a bit and I find referencing ages to be a bit easier for myself.  And it was the first one I was introduced to in DAO.

So he has pretty much only been asleep since the time of Andraste.

Edit:  Thanks for that timeline!  I couldn't find a decent one on the DA Wiki or the DA website.
