That's the one. I just thought the fact that Viv picks up on Solas seeing himself as a villian was interesting.
That banter triggered at the most ironic time for me. All mage party - one Tevinter, two apostates and Viv. I think she's a little outnumbered when it comes to ideas about the Circle in that group.

Well yeah or the fact that Blackwall betrayed for money not due to principles... Solas is hot on principles, which somewhat contradicts his practical nature.
As was said above, he is a well-rounded character.
I don't think his practicality necessarily contradicts with his being principled, since he's only practical because he believes in his principles so much he will do anything for them.
Taven calls it Din'an Hanin so they must have figured it out as some point - if that was even the original Elvhen name.

Guys, I've got a question, dunno if it was discussed before. Do you think that the spirit of Wisdom knows about Solas/Fen'harel? Judging from the dialogue with Cole, it seems like the spirit knew that Solas was "special" but not exactly what he was.. Or am I wrong?
Wisdom knew. How else could it have known Solas could guide it into death? Hence my angst.

The Mythal=Andraste and Solas=Shartan theory can still work. Whose to say he wasn't using the Orb to cause the great destruction Cathaire was talking about?
He probably took a nap after handling the gods, and then woke up sporadically and did stuff and then had to sleep some more. Or we could just be theorizing over a throwaway line where a dev didn't feel like writing out the specific number of years, and 'a thousand' just sounded cool.

Off topic so I won't belabor, but Loghain isn't entirely cold. He's a patriot, and a rebel. His anger is driven from watching his mother's rape and murder and seeing that atrocity played out over and over again, like the old farmer that Orlesians beat to death for no reason. He had good reasons to mistrust the Wardens and Orlais both, and Flemeth manipulated both him and Maric such that he discounted the Blight's danger to escape thinking he could betray Maric. And he was tender both towards Rowan and his wife, and still shows a lot of love for Anora if you recruit and talk to him. Many of his actions after Ostagar are motivated by overprotectiveness for Anora.I just never warmed to the guy, people said read "The Stolen Throne" well I read the stolen throne and still loathed him... Probably because the game never goes out of its way to render him sympathetically, he comes over as a SOB and a cold SOB at that...

I despair of ever catching up to this thread, but reposing this video to say:
1) The French voice actors rock!
2) I don't understand French, but I've watched that scene so many times now in English that translation is unnecessary.
3) Holy crap! The amount of dialog in DA:I is staggering. I cannot fathom how much work it must take to coordinate the voice recording for a single language let alone multiple languages. On the off chance any such people involved in that process find themselves reading this thread: y'all are amazing!

Another problem with Loghain is that he pretty much becomes what he hates. He becomes a tyrant who tries to force the people of Ferelden to bow to him. His soldiers do some pretty horrible things to the people who oppose Loghain if you listen to some of the random convos from the people in DAO. I know he's doing it out of a sense of overprotectiveness - not only of Anora but also Ferelden in general - and a deep mistrust of Orlais and the Grey Wardens - but yeah. It's rather sad actually.
I might have a things for Angry!Solas as well.

This is probably why the most heartbreaking thing Solas can potentially do in the DLC is manipulate whoever drank from the well. That would be the point Solas becomes what he hates.
