I think, and this is the only pet theory of mine I am absolutely sure of (for now, anyway, until I get proven otherwise lol) is that there is something out there that we know nothing about.

Something old, something powerful, something way worse than blights, archdemons, old gods, darkspawn magisters...worse than all of it.

And it's coming.

A Labour government?

It'd be pretty great.

But picture Solas, Fenris and Zevran all forced into the same room. I'm sure that'd be a party.  I just realized that we've gotten a male elf of a different class in each game.

Thought I'd drop a link in here of a fan fiction I wrote because it was directly inspired by a comment in this thread.

Let me just say you guys are awesome, and because of said awesomeness, I have been lurking here a long time . ..  with much creepy lurkerness. It's nice to see other tinfoil hat theories like mine (omg I'm not alone  ) and that so many people share my obsession with Solas. Creators bless you all.

Okay as I can't just quote and post a reaction gif I've been trying to pin down the elven sentinels powers/abilities. In the Arbor Wilds they seem rogueish and their ability to disappear is similar to Cole's, the melee attacker's I've seen in videos use real swords rather than a spirit blade so I'm just confused what's happening there, what's the lore?

They are just warriors. According to solas all elves knew magic. I would imagine as guardians they trained in physical combat as well. Probably with all manner of weapons including magic.

We also have to remember thedas isn't the world. Meaning the devs have hinted there are other races and other beings that exist on that planet. Thedas is just one continent.

I don't really have any counter theories, but I guess I'm not a fan of 'everything is elves'.  Old Gods, Andraste, whatever it was that created the Qunari... according to most of the theories I see around here everything was elves or Solas on his own (if it does turn out to be 'everything was elves' then I stand corrected).

At the moment the one thing I am sure of (as much as I can be sure of anything since everything is theories at the moment) is that Solas is Fen'Harel, not possessed by Fen'Harel and that body hopping wasn't a common thing.  I think Mythal can could do it because she died and now all that's left of her is a tiny part of her spirit/soul/whatever.

Oh I agree, I personally do not like 'everything is elves' either. Hence why I was using distancing language - "consensus" "lots of people seem to believe" etc.

In my head the Elvhen Pantheon is certainly not the origins. We must still unravel the mysteries of the pyramids which lie across the sea!

Indeed. Solas seemingly not knowing exactly what the gods really are and neither he or flemeth downright refusing the concept of the maker leaves windows open for a lot of things.

Like, our dark overlord AZATHOTH...

I adore Egyptian mythology. I would love if some of that found its way into the lore.

I doubt we will ever find out what the maker is, or if it exists. But if it is John Cleese I wont complain.

If the Arcane Warrior spec in DA:O (and the Spellweaver sword, which is supposed to be an ancient Arcane Warrior weapon) are any indication, ancient Arcane Warriors used physical swords.  Perhaps they could use spirit blades, but that seems to be more associated with the modernized Knight Enchanter.  Also Arcane Warriors and Knight Enchanters can phase partially into the Fade (Fenris was pretty much an unknowing Arcane Warrior), and in the case of the Knight Enchanter, that ability makes them appear briefly invisible.

But in the case of the Sentinels in the Arbor Wilds, I think most of them that seem rogue-y actually are rogues, if only because of battle system limitations.

Have we yet touched on the idea that even when Solas said he experienced things "in the fade," it may not have been an outright lie, but more of a half truth, since he was speaking of (as Cole says) "a time before, when everything sang the same." Which I take to mean a time when the fade and the real world were, more or less, intertwined? So he really did experience it in the fade, but also in reality, since theyhad not yet been separated...

Work with me here. I'm trying to rationalize his words because, after having my heart broken multiple times by dubious behavior, I ****** hate liars.

And by "I" I mean my Lavellan.

But really I mean me.

Well, I think he uses "in the Fade" when talking about both things he's actually seen in the Fade, as in, he saw it while he was sleeping/dreaming, and things he's personally experienced. But either way, those stories that he tells are true. He has experienced them. It's just the way he's experienced them that he obscures, and I don't really hold that against him. He obviously loves sharing these stories with someone, and also hates that he has to lie even a little about how he came across them.

I am of a similar mind. It's true the Elvehn were part of Thedas before any of the races if I'm not mistaken but I take ALL theories in here with a grain of salt. I'm not a huge fan of everything is Elvhen or everything has to do with Solas either. Sometimes I wonder if we're seeing what we want to see or if the clues were there to be put together by the theorycrafters around here. Until we play a DLC or the next game or any other DA Universe material that confirms one way or another, I don't really believe in any of these theories yet.

I'm a skeptical, however that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the awesome theories people come up with. As long as they don't get confused and start calling them facts, I'm totes cool with it.

So how come I never noticed the giant Solas at the final battle, where the orb is hovering?  :o

Yes I know Solas is about to go down as I'm staring at the scenery, lol.

I wonder if this is the spot where the Divine was being suspended for the sacrifice? Oh man. I don't like the sound of that.

One thing I also noticed is that Solas tells Abelas "there is a place for you." That sounds oddly specific.

The end of the game feels so much different on a Cullen romance. You feel like you actually accomplished something and are celebrating, instead of feeling like your heart is that blackened orb shattered into tiny pieces while you sadwalk back to your quarters alone. *sigh* Poor Lavellan. What have I done to her.

More art stuff! Still working on the background, but thought I'd post these. The final wolf will likely be black, but I included a white variant should anyone want it.

Still unsure about the six eyed look. I'm not sure if I am just being stubborn because I like normal wolf eyes, or because the designs I've come up with look silly. Probably a bit of both.

Yeah, the Temple of Sacred Ashes was originally an ancient elven temple, Mythal's from the looks of it.  Dun dun duuuunn...

I knew it was an elven temple but I'd never seen the mosaic before, or noticed that that's where the orb is suspended.

Blackwall took his fake Grey Warden ball and went home, Cass is chilling waiting to become Divine. But her epilogue didn't sound good in my game- the Chantry is warring with itself. What did I do wrong?

If you're talking about the mural on the ground, that's Mythal's mural. :) Solas is always represented by the pleasantly fuzzy Dread Wolf.

Nothing, there's always some conflict with her. If you had a good relationship with her, then it's quelled rather quickly through negotiations.

And yea I forgot you mentioned that, lol. Blackwall really takes his roleplaying seriously, lol. Sigh, you big knucklehead.

Oh, my approval probably wasn't high enough with her since I didn't get that. I was kind of rushing. I only do everything on Lavellan's game.

If you mean why the Sentinels aren't all mages, Merrill mentions that the ancient elves lost their immortality along with some of the mages losing their magic; presumably, they would have had to adapt.

Some of them are definitely a bit eerie. Of course, it helps that a lot of the time they are in creepy ruins.

If you match it up with the different mosaics, it's the same as Mythal's.

Very alien looking. :alien:

Really cool and creepy, haha.  It also implies more of that otherworldly eeriness, which might be fitting since the ancient elves could travel between worlds, and might not even be native to Thedas at all.  (All the Lovecraftian hints, hm.) But I'm still leaning towards them being some sort of manifested spirits originally, with a half spirit/half physical nature similar to Cole.
