The Titans held up the sky like Atlas, but when they were gone, the dwarves got squished and ran crying into the underground?
Sounds legit.
Every time I hear Titans get brought up in lore, I think of the Warcraft universe's titans, and their relationship with the dwarves. We know so little about the DA Titans that my brain just slots in the next thing and drags the poor dwarves along for the ride.

Maybe it's because I should be asleep becuae it's 336 right now, but this makes a lot of sense to me right now
I mean... I guess. Righ? I dunno, I'm going back to bed.
That's because squished dwarves are totes legit and freaking hilarious. LMAO, where's your Dwarven pride now, pipsqueaks?

Huh. What was that codex entry about destroying the Pillars of the Earth and letting the world blossom as a rose with their passing?

In one of Solas's dialogues about his journeys in the Fade, I got a new one today.
He was talking about encountering a spirit that had once ruled all the lands, but when he asked for its name, the spirit paused and looked sad, and said, "They have forgotten me. There is no name for what I was."
Does anyone have the full transcript?

No but wait
"In this place we prepare to hunt the pillars of the Earth. Their workers scurry, witless, soulless. This death will be a mercy. We will make the earth blossom with their passing."
For one moment there is a vivid image of two overlapping spheres; unknown flowers bloom inside their centers. Then it fades.
If we're assuming that the workers being referred to here are the dwarves, then someone has it out for them. Maybe this has something to do with why darkspawn are primarily occupied with the Deep Roads? Maybe the Old Gods are commanding them deeper and deeper from underground so they can wear the Stone down?

Okay, in Norse Mythology Ymir is the primeval being whose body makes up the world. His name is thought to be derived from the word Ymr (Sound). Hint the song that keeps calling to everyone in DAI.
In norse mythology we also have Dwarves of hibernation and peoples of law.
The Peoples of law are the first to give order to a chaotic world. They all came from the first universal being, the primeval Sound (Ymir), born by the Wave (or the nine waves)=Nine elven gods. But they were different from the first beings because they emerged from the caged dream-speech that contained the memories of the previous world.

You know what? Rewatching this, I think these conversation are what solidified my love for Solas. I mean, Fade tongue was great, but these stories, the rhythm of them, and the lonely beautiful snapshots they conjured, were just pure poetry. I was extremely sad when they finally ran out.
Edit: sorry, wrong story

Here it is:
“I found an ancient spirit who had once been undisputed king of almost every land I had discovered.
Like Pride or Rage, it was the Fade’s reflection of a feeling. When I asked which one it was, the spirit faltered.
'They've forgotten,' said the spirit. 'There remains no word for what I was.'”

Lol I still think the workers are darkspawn and the pillars the old gods
But if we assume dwarves, the entity you fight in DA 2 that sounds like an old god/forgotten one and fucked the dwarves up comes to mind.
But then, that thing doesn't sound like its in the business of making anything blossom.
Im making a contribution!

What's up with the dwarf leaving the rock? Was he exiled and dropping off a rock as a memento, or did he get out, drop off the rock, and then head inside?
I worry about my dwarves.
Was the Spirit King of all the lands that Solas had discovered in the Fade? Because that'd be a pretty impressive spirit. Perhaps it ruled the Fade in the early days of the Creators? Bah.
I WANT MORE INFORMATION, BIOWARE.

Same here, actually. The stories really do a credit to Solas as a character. They were vague, as one might expect from Fade visions, but so poetic and beautifully read by Gareth David-Lloyd to boot. In terms of the romance, I think that I would have enjoyed something like this for a "Do you have a moment?" option, being taken aside for stories and book reading and what-have-you.

I'd be down for Malvernis being related to the Forgotten Ones. A bizarre creature of pestilence that does damage to the Stone itself, buried in the Surface. Maybe it's the Coryflora to their Dumat. ![]()

What are these memories of the previous world though? And dream-speech. The Fade?
The memories and dream-speech are references to the cosmic realm, which is called something along the lines of Misty World. So, I would say it is the fade. If you are really interested you should read the younger and older eddas and Voluspa. Many many similarities.

Yeah, darkspawn and Old Gods probably fit that need-to-be-destroyed niche better, especially since the ones who wrote the ancient text were the elves.
Thank you.

I took the convo to mean the dwarf was exiled to the surface, and him leaving that piece of rock a symbolic act of his leaving the Stone.
And yes that spirit king is super interesting. Ruled the lands? How? And how can the word for what it was be forgotten now?!

Lol new headcanon, the old gods actually brought the taint to unleash the darkspawn on the dwarves to destroy the pillars and save the world by bringing back the fade, but the pansy ass dwarves tattled and got the other races involved, so the darkspawn had to defend themselves.
Misunderstood darkspawn.
The DWARVES ARE THE ENEMY.

Oh I agree, I personally do not like 'everything is elves' either. Hence why I was using distancing language - "consensus" "lots of people seem to believe" etc.
In my head the Elvhen Pantheon is certainly not the origins. We must still unravel the mysteries of the pyramids which lie across the sea!
What does lie across the sea? What did the Qunari have to run from? (and why is Bull so sure that the Kossith wont be like the Qunari? What was that creepy prophecy in DAO all about? Why is the ruin in the Dalish origin human and elven and why is that eluvian apparently Tevinter in origin? Is that a retcon or where humans making and using eluvians at some point?
So many lore questions!

Legend suggests the Forgotten Ones were many, but even the names of most of them have been largely lost to time, making their title exceedingly appropriate. Some fragments of lore do remain, however, as do intimations of their intentions
http://dragonage.wik...nes#cite_note-6
Well that could really help out the Old Gods=Forgotten Ones theories. There were just three of them whose names survived the centuries.
As for Duncan's comment on the Eluvian, I think we have an explanation for that one. Namely, that the Vints commandeered Eluvians, but could only use them for long-distance communication. Duncan, not being an ancient elf expert, but still being pretty cool, knows of them as they were used by the Vints.
The ruin, though. Ugh. *flails*

I don't believe that. It's another conceit of the ideology. They need a secret police to enforce their system, so it's not self sustaining. The fact that they have to fight Tal Vashoth in Seheron shows that.I believe this even ties in with Bull's argument in favor of the Qun after Halamshiral. If the whole Triumvirate was wiped out, the Qun would go on unchanged.
I didn't like Michel either, but otherwise I agree. Gaspard at least admits he's a putz and doesn't make any apologies for it.I let Gaspard rule. Only one in the book besides Michel and Felassan I liked. Kill the rest, I say.
