I just caught up with all the pages.. damn!

About the hat.. has everyone ever wondered what is that part on Solas' nose? I really don't get it. I mean. It's not part of the hat cause it's not connected to it. It's not a mask cause what kind of a mask would that be? 
So what.. did he just go and glue a piece of metal to the side of his nose, for what reason in particular? 
It's a stupid question, I know, but it bothers me The first time I thought it was a graphic glitch XD

I can really appreciate Sera as a character but I'll never romance her. I can't forgive her for literally telling one of her possible love interests to give up everything they believe in just to make her feel better. Even Solas doesn't do that, and he'd probably rather you cut ties from the Dalish. That tells me she's far from being ready for a relationship that involves accepting the other for everything, even if you may not like it. I can't foresee that going anywhere but trouble for anyone she romances.

 

I think she was very well done, though. Realistic and incredibly nutty. She wasn't made to please, and I like her for it! I actually really love her and Solas' relationship and people who say they just hate each other are missing a lot.

It is a glitch. It's the nose piece of the helmet clipping through his nose.

My Lavellan had a lot in common with Dorian personality wise. Both of them are a bit snarky and prone to acting a bit over the top. He grew up being groomed to eventually take on his family's heritage, and so did she. They have very different opinions as far as wealth and social customs go, but at the heart of it they are very similar to one another. I think Dorian is an only child? Not entirely sure on that part, but my Lavellan also was.

 

That said- I don't know if they would have got on so well had it not been for Redcliffe. Just dropping both of them together, they'd probably try to out ego one another. But Redcliffe was really a game changer for my girl. And Dorian is the only person who had that shared experience. Dorian probably knew that Lavellan was in love with Solas before Solas knew just from how she reacted in the alternate-world.

 

So, from then on they were buddies. She might not like everything that he does, but they'll always have that connection. Kind of a, 'you were with me at the end of the world, and I won't forget that'. 

 

This is the way I played my Dorian/Lavellan relationship, too (including the Solavellan angle).

I was thinking that. I think it's hella bugged in all honesty. The sides clipped a bit, but the nose-bit is really clippy. Maybe I need a screenshot to look at it for longer than a second. x)

 

Honestly though, it ruined the dance scene for me. ;_; And I was looking forward to it.

 

Stupid hat. Thank God talented artists can make it look okay.

I went for Adaar, and I'm loving it.  There are some weird moments in the romance where all of a sudden Dorian stands on a box (or a pile of books in my headcanon) so their heads can be level when they kiss.  But something about the exiled Altus and the mercenary Vashoth mage is just all the adorables.  Adaar towers over everyone but Iron Bull, and seeing them side-by-side in combat is just too cute, even if I have to spend half my time rescuing Dorian's squishy ass 

 

I kept thinking my elf was really tall thanks to the crazy height changes of the Dorian romance  I think it was only at the final scene on the balcony where Dorian ducks his head down onto his shoulder where I finally realised that Lavellan is shorter than him. He so often had the look of a lanky teenager about him.

 

I rolled as an elf for the Dorian romance because they're the only good looking quizzies I can make. Heh. I am not a fan of playing as humans (I'm a total sucker for playing as the outcast/outsider so I get bored of all-the-privilege human runs) and I make hideous dwarves. Haven't tried to make a male Qunari yet. I kinda wanted to finish my Female one before I tried that, but she's been side-lined while I re-run my female elf. Maybe once some more patches happen I'll go be qunari.

 

 

Solas is currently in my bad books for knocking me off a small ledge to my death in the Emerald Graves. GEE, THANKS. GOOD LUCK CLOSING THE BREACH WITHOUT ME.

He probably did it out of spite for being made to wear totally white armour. Damn, should have named it Special Snowflake.

So, many thousands of pages ago, I said I was working on a post-game Lavellan cosplay for the annual medieval faire and lots of folks here wanted me to post pictures when I finally did it.

 

That happened yesterday, so here is my real life Lavellan story.

I received word that Leliana was given a potential lead in my search for Solas: apparently, an elven mage had been spotted near the little village of Hoggetown. As if that were not reason enough to go investigate, Hoggetown was also being plagued by one of the few, remaining Fade Rifts that had failed to seal after the Breach was contained.

 

First, I stopped to take a quick elfie selfie.

 

 

Once at the outskirts of Hoggetown, I looked around for some evidence of guardsmen.

 

 

There was no warm reception here. Instead, I was greeted by several demons; as luck would have it (or perhaps the Anchor drew me there subconsciously), I'd stumbled upon the town's Rift before the town itself!

 

 

Once the demons were dealt with, I made short work of closing the Rift.

 

 

 

The townsfolk were grateful and invited me to a great feast, as well as an afternoon of jousting tournaments, games of arms such as axe-throwing and archery, and a tour of the marketplace. Although one vendor seemed put-out and suspicious that an elf had entered his shop, he quickly changed his tuned when he realized who I was. In apology, he bestowed upon me a circlet that he kindly placed upon my head. 

 

I highly recommend the smoked turkey legs, by the way.

 

 

Although I prefer duel-wielding daggers, the Hoggetown folk talked me into trying a few of their games of contests. Any good rogue should be able to handle a one-handed axe and a bow, right?

 

 

 

 

 

Ummm, well, maybe I better not use the respec amulet any time soon and just stick to what I know best... 

 

I finally managed to track down the elven mage, only to learn she was an apostate simply passing through.

 

Rift closed and influence spread, so that mission was accomplished. But still no sign of Solas's trail. I kept a brave face on for the townsfolk as I mounted up to return to Skyhold.

 

 

But my soul is still heavy with his absence. I keep a reminder of him close to me at all times, just underneath my armor. Forever and always, I will remain...

 

... Fen'Harel's Heart. 

 

 

(By the way, I Tweeted that photo of my wolf pendant to Patrick Weekes with the caption "Fen'Harel's Heart" in rot13, and he favorited it. That made me squeal with fangirlish glee. )

I still adore the dance scene. Just the way he says, "Come! Before the band stops playing, dance with me!" He's so excited.   It's also the first time we see him initiate physical contact, which feels like a big thing.

I also loved how he sought Lavellan out to see how she was feeling. It was such a great moment. And then his laugh if you choose the option where you're all, "I'm pretty damn good! Just taking a break after stepping all over the Orlesian court like a badass". Paraphrased, of course.

I, too, LOVED the friendship paths with Cassandra (my Goddess) and Dorian. When Dorian says, "I believe in you." I wanted to hug the crap out of him. (Sidenote: I wish there were more options to hug . . . I mean resources were spent allowing you to punch Dorian and Solas--I want to hug them and squeeze them and love them and pat them and call them George).

 

With Sera, my first play through I was so sad/pissed after the "What did you do to your face? / Dalish are idjits!" conversation. But I now appreciate her character more. I really think that we are not getting all of the pieces with Sera. There seems to be something missing. I don't subscribe to the Sera/Elven Goddess theory, but I do think that the theory allows us to think about more deeply about her character. The writers have to be very economical in what they include, and questions about her training stuck out. Or questions of Sera's concern with the existential Void/Nothingness. I want to know more, and I'm not sure we are getting all the pieces.

The training bit - if you're good friends with you finally have a chance to ask about her past. She actually was trained by another Red Jenny that took her under his wing. She had a knack for archery, certainly, but he did train her.  I think her issues with the Void are no different than a lot of real people's issues of faith and the meaning of life and what happens after we die.  She's terrified.  If Corypheus is real and the Maker is real then the end fo the world is real.  Or at least some aspect of it. She doesn't like being confronted with those things because they aren't an enemy she can fight. They are just truths that she has to accept and she doesn't like that. 

 

On hugging -yes. I wanted to hug cassandra, cullen, Dorian, Cole, Sera, Solas - though I think if you hugged Solas he would just breakdown and cry or something.  Dude just wants for affection so hard.   I wanted to HUG EVERYBODY. You get to hug Varric but only if you kill his friend.

Any therapist in Thedas would quickly go nuts themselves.  The profession's self-employing IRL, just imagine the problems therapists would have to deal with there.  No wonder why they don't exist.

Everything about Solas at Halamshiral is just the best.  Tipsy Solas is the best Solas, which makes me laugh because my Lavellan's 100% a teetotaler.  She felt bad bringing him at first.  Then he's all happy and sexy and drunk, and she has a great time playing the Game.  It was a pleasant surprise to make up for all the awful surprises in DA:I.

The Paragon/Renegade interrupt system in ME could be a bit clunky, but it gave us hug interrupts and punch interrupts.  I need both for DA:I, in spades.  At least I got the chance to hug Varric after Hawke died.  I have never felt so awful in a Dragon Age game, not even after Solas dumped Lavellan, because this piece of tragedy was 100% my fault.

I know! It was such a lovely scene! My Levallen (her name's Ilaria, I can't kee calling her "my Levallen forever xP) almost turned him down, she was so exhausted from the politics that she's really not good at and could agree with Sera on a thousand levels on points of it at her least reasonable... But he was so enthusiastic when he asked, she couldn't say no. x)

 

And yet, all that aside, I just couldn't take it seriously. ;_; I'd headcannoned that after the ball is when Ilaria and Solas doink for the first time, but I'm even laughing thinking about it now.

I like to think if you're friends with her, after Duc Bastien dies, she gives into the hug a bit. She doesn't cry but she just accepts and returns it.  If not she just makes a face as if you farted on her or something.

That is 100% best Solas.  I headcanon that Halamshiral was like a party where you are the ONLY SOBER ONE THERE.  My Lavellan was having fun at first and was taken aback and then loving how happy Solas seemed.  She was looking forward to the rest of the night with him    But then the evening turned out to be such a massive ****-show that she was just like 'god this sucks, i just want to be home'.

I find the song to be meh, but it was popping up in my head when I started working on my Solavellan fic. I listen really only to Evanescence, Breaking Benjamin, Amaranthe, Within Temptation, Skillet, and Thirty Seconds to Mars. What if Urn of Sacred Ashes at the Temple actually contained Mythal's ashes? Real Mythal, as in elf? It does seem to be her temple. after all, considering her mural on the ground and this funny cult, worshiping dragons. I realise, nothing supports this theory, but why not entertain it?
