I... am not sure I understand. How does "what is real in Thedas might be different from what is real here" relate to "reality depends largely on our ability to perceive"? Even in a world with magic humans are still human. If their brain is (made) incapable of perceiving things (e.g., demons around them) they will not know that these things exist. Or did you mean that the humans in Thedas are all different from us humans, i.e., their brains work all different? Because I assume even a Thedasian still has a brain like we do, including cognitive filters and such.
I just wonder why (in case the veil was created deliberately by mages) there are no accounts of the previous state. No letters, no books, no sort of written or oral lore. I find that odd. Because for mages to have created the breach, at least some of the races (elves/humans/Qunari) must have existed. Why did no one ever tell his children "Hey, you know, when I was still young, there were demons running all over this place"?
Actually, there are hints at what the pre-veil world might have been like in the Andrastean Chant. (Given significant weight, if you believe that much of the Chant's early content was provided by Mythal/Solas and reflects a sanitized but not entirely untruthful representation of historic fact.) Threnodies 5 is particularly interesting.
The world before the veil would have been one of instant gratification and constant change. What mages struggle to do in modern Thedas (change the world around them according to their will) was as simple as breathing then, and took about as much effort. Critically, however, it was about as meaningful as well. Nothing was static, nothing permanent- nothing of substance could be achieved or built in an "Eden" that molded itself to every passing thought of the sentient beings within it.
Thus the raising of the veil. The physical world and the beings within were split into oppositional halves: Physical and Fade, Body and Soul, Will and Possibility. A world they could change, but only with effort- one in which change and choice was thus made meaningful.

I'm so glad I took nursing chemistry last semester. Otherwise some of these puns might be lost on me.... I'm not trying to be funny, that's really true.
Also, I realized that I started paying way too much attention to this forum and I'm mid conversation with Solas. He and my Lavellan have been staring at each other for probably about 20 minutes now. I don't think either one minds... but someone might notice...
This scene, right?

That's the Dorian kiss scene. Made me so annoyed! I wanted to see some smooching, not face pressing.

Doing another playthrough and I just met Solas and varric and its killing me. Why Solas why.
Doing another playthrough and I just met Solas and varric and its killing me. Why Solas why.
I've been thinking about this for some time. I paraphrased his inner monologue. It goes something like...
"Okay, tonight's the night. I'm going to tell her, and it's going to be fine. I love her and she pretty much rocks my world, so if this is going to work, it's best for her to hear it from me. Right? Of course I'm right. I'm ****** Solas. So... here goes--
"Wait. I can't tell her... I've overlooked the enormous possibility that she isn't going to understand. Or even worse, maybe she will understand and come to hate me. I can't tell her. But damn it, I told her I was going to tell her something, but what? Damn it, think, Solas... Think! There she is, looking at me so expectantly, so beautiful and her face...
"Yes, that's it, her face! The valaslin. I can tell her about that Whew... crisis averted.
"She really is extraordinary. I could just... stay right here forever... and why not? Nothing is stopping me, right? (LOLshe let me touch her butt
"I love her so much...
"****. I can't stay. I've already come so far, and I still have so far to go. To give up now, I would only fail myself. Besides, what would she think of me if I didn't follow through? Look at her, all she has accomplished. No. I will see this through, but then I must continue on my path. Alone. I wouldn't want to put her in even more danger. Not needlessly. That's the way it must be. I love her so much. This is going to be one of the most difficult things I've ever had to do, but I will endure. For both our sakes..."
At least, that's what I gathered.

The way Solas emphasizes 'there is a place for you, lethallin,' definitely makes me think that Solas is well aware of where to find other Ancient Elvhen, even if he hasn't spoken to them in a long time. Perhaps they mingled in the Fade.
I'm intensely curious about Felassan's "tribe" in light of Solas and this bit of conversation with Abelas. My memory is infamously bad, but I'd swear I remember Felassan reacting with a somewhat amused/horrified "Oh noooo... you really wouldn't" when Briala expressed an interest in meeting his people, who were heavily hinted at being not your run-of-the-mill Dalish.
Considering his later comment about how his People were duty bound to show up and fix things every time the Shems threw the world out of balance, it's damned suspicious at the very least. An small underground pocket of ancient elves, dedicated to watching the world and restoring Balance from the shadows? Yeah. That sounds like someone we know.

Climb up the ladders outside the entrance area and go across all of the bridges, if I remember correctly it should be up at the end of the bridges- on a rocky cliff wall.
Because I need to contribute something other than really bad chemistry jokes.

If at first you don't succeed, try two more times so your failure is statistically significant! Omg, that's my favvvvvorite!!!
Edit: I mean...Solas. Solas. Solas...Sol..ution?
Does that make Lavellan the precipitate? Y'know.. because she's no longer with Solas.

Is brother Genitivi still...alive? I remember being able to kill him in Origins but never doing it. He might've gotten blown up at the conclave, but I hope he's still around.
I've been wondering the same thing. I've been trying to find info on what happened to him by the time DA:I happens but so far, nothing. Not even on the Dragon Age wiki. I hope he's still alive and well though, assuming you let him live that is. ![]()

I will admit to being if not exactly a Holmes purist, someone who prefers her Holmes with more deduction and British snark, and less...dinosaurs.
