Lol and Mass effect was even more obvious about it. Sigh... I miss Sovereign. Dat voice tho.

Yeah, I think that was the weakness of the Star Kid reveal at the end. The Reapers went from inconceivable beings of power and destruction to, "We had a war with AI and this was the only way. Trust me. I did... calculations."

Spoiler

It's like showing the alien/ monster. They're far more frightening when they're something you can't see clearly, can't fathom. The second you see them in the camera you're like.. well that's dumb.

He does look good in white :/ I was a bit sad when the Keeper Robe turns Orange with Dragon webbing :/ WHY couldn't it be white?
I mean ok you can use other materials, but the dragon ones are the best :P

Btw, I tried removing Solas' armor before the Fade kiss and that way he uses his normal skyhold outfit. But nah, I prefer it with the armor on..
That way she can do this:

Cosmic horror is only scary while there's an unknown element to it.  ME3 answered all those unknowns and completely stripped them of any power they had to induce fear.  Which is kind of sad, because Leviathan in terms of ambiance and visuals was an excellent piece of cosmic horror.  It's just...dat plot.  WTF.

Makes me question my decision to have not murdered the **** out of Florianne, but in a way, beating her at the Game might be sweeter vengeance.

The Game is the Orlesians' creation, a product of their culture and way of thinking about politics.  They deliberately use it to trap others and swallow them alive (for example, the sword given to Teagan at the beginning of TME), even take pleasure in it.

No matter what Inquisitor you play, you're an outsider.  The Orlesians look down their noses at you, even a noble.  Someone they consider beneath them destroying them with their own Game must be deeply humiliating, and that makes me happy inside

And now back to work, which involves my shooting down every one of @PatrickWeekes's pun suggestions. "What about--" "No." "We could--" "No."

  1. .@camharr ""IT'S NOT VANILLA ICE" may not have been the best justification of my career.

Now, I don't want to jump to conclusions, but the senior editor of Bioware and Weekes are back to work?

DLC?! *flails internally*

Well, I'm in my new playthrough, got to crestwood..

And to that.. Horrible horrible place in which heartbreaking commences.

And I noticed a few things.

This is obviously an elven ruin, you can tell by the fact that there is a statue of Falon'Din near the entrance

Spoiler for size

Spoiler

As well as these

Spoiler for size

Spoiler

And.. The trophy from the wyvern?

Spoiler

A staff called Fade-Knocker which casts a veilstrike which is an ability that the rift mage has?... The staff's description is meaningless, but funny "magic exists to serve man, and some are best served with a knock upside the head". I wish the description would've hinted at the origin of the staff.

Anyhow, the fact Solas bothers taking you there, plus the veil being thin in the area (perhaps suggesting it is old or that the place has seen a lot of bloodshade) makes me feel this place is more significant than it first looks.

Did anyone wonder if Solas drew some of these murals? He draws, he is highly artistic and expresses events through drawings.

And this pure speculation but there are two MASSIVE statues of harts in the middle

Spoiler

Another place I've seen it is in the Exalted Plains, at the entrance of the elven graveyard.

Did anyone see these at other places? My current playthrough hasn't advanced enough but I'll keep an eye out, but I speculate these are placed at sacred places.

Lastly, near the entrance to the cave there is a camp with templars/vints with a letter that tells the templars/vints to copy all the text they find in the cave. I think that perhaps Corypheus starts his search for the well of sorrows there, or perhaps learn of it from that cave.

So I conclude:

I suspect this cave is an important elven ruin, perhaps even sacred. It could have a relation to Fen'Harel (Fade-Knocker staff and him taking Lavellan), and I think Solas may have painted these murals, depicting past events or perhaps what led him to do what he did (lock the gods away). There may be more things in the cave, but it's too dark, and perhaps there are more area that are unavailable (otherwise it's weird Corypheus will send his minions there and that they'll have a camp set up).

Also

Fen'Harel statue in front of the cave, looking towards the road leading to the cave.

I'm not sure how many chances we get to see both Falon'Din and Fen'Harel statues in the same area, but this is one place.

The Crestwood keep's also full of owls.

The place used to be a fortress, maybe? And that would be one of the reasons why the Veil's thin there, having seen a lot of war.

I like some voices in games, like Gideon Emery has a great voice but Gareth David Lloyd..his Solas is just very soothing and ethereal. He did a great job. Its very....good.

I can't play Skyrim without following the Imperial soldiers around because Gideon Emery...his voice is, damn. Both Gideon and Gareth are each good in different, unique ways. Is it possible to marry voices?

I want to like both these things but I can't.

Leviathan was great: Why it wasn't included in the main game will forever confuse me.  It kind of saved the game for me TBH. I liked ME3 if you look at it's small stories on a microscopic level; Legion, EDI, Tuchanka - fantastic.  On a larger scale I was like...ugh...I threw myself into that green light and was just sighed "Thanks for the memories, Bioware".

The Game:  Josephine says it herself - the game became too insular and the Orlesians paid the price for it. Even if only Florianne and Gaspard or whomever you chose to die or exile really lost, they technically all did.  EVERYBODY will know of their humilation at the hands of the "rebel" organization that is the Inquisition.  A misfit band of outsiders who came to court and showed everybody up.  My Lavellan thought their callousness was despicable and she hated them.  As a player - I thought it was hilarious.

Mine turned to mush reading it because it's true, also I'm at work...alone, with nothing to do, that helps...

I'm not one for Gideon Emery's voice though, does nothing for me. Not sure what it is with Solas but I think Ave nails it. It's otherworldly, the rhythm helps too...

Yeah...I would play that and then be like I need to play DA2 and be annoyed at Fenris.

The only way you could get me back to Kirkwall is to have it reduced to fire and brimestone.

Pretty sure that's what Ander's tried to do.

So I actually had the opportunity to meet Gideon Emery at BlizzCon two years ago.  He voices the male Crusader in Diablo 3's expansion, and I definitely rolled one so I could click on things and hear him talk   He was seriously the adorablest, this really sweet and slightly jet-lagged British dude.  And ugh, that voice.  He joked about how he always gets cranky, snarky roles even though he's not a cranky person.  But he does seem to enjoy the snark

I love Skyrim. I am the worst at playing it ...or the best. I don't like the TES lore and couldn't even begin to tell you what was going on but I managed to spend 200 hours wandering around and wishing Brynjolf would love me. (Yes I know there is a marriage mod)

Oh boy...

Do you know how excited I was when news started going around Tumblr that Emery did voice work for Inquisition? I was like, "Oh my god. Fenris. I'm going to see Fenris again, rendered in glorious Frostbite." But no it was ****** Samson damnit.

*sigh*

Though Samson's a pretty cool dude too. But that was such a tease. After Adamant I was like, wait what? That's it for Hawke? Where's my Fenris cameo?

Yeah, I feel weird fangirling over Samson... He's terrible...  But Gideon Emery. :P

I also felt bad because my Hawke tried to help Samson, so when he showed up with Corypheus I had an "oh nooooo whyy" moment and also an "oh yeeeaahhh" moment cuz Gideon Emery.  Then proceeded to have mixed feelings the entire way through.  That one tranquil was heartbreaking.  My Lavellan had pity on him at the final judgment.

You can sometimes hear Gideon in Samson but only if you're listening really hard for it. Otherwise I don't think most would have even noticed it was the same person.

He's pretty versatile.  However, his natural speaking voice or some small variant of it is what he winds up using for a lot of roles.  I often find myself playing a game and thinking, "Hey, that's Fenris!"
