Hello, thread. Long time no see (totally my fault). I have some fairly coherent thoughts today.

Edit: Spoilers abound in this post, if anyone still cares about that.

Reasons why I think that whatever Solas plans to do will probably only benefit the "true" elvhen:

- He seems to have been set up as a sympathetic (and hopefully redeemable) antagonist, so whatever he decides to do would have to be fairly objectively bad in the eyes of any inquisitor; not just the non-elven ones.

- I'm not a fan of the "I made this mess so it's mine alone to clean up" trope. For starters, I don't think Solas would be that dumb. I think it's likely that he left Lavellan in part because he thinks that she will find his actions objectionable and try to stop him from reaching his goals. Perhaps he is also afraid that he might let her.

- What he plans will likely affect the whole world. My favourite theory (with plenty of ingame foreshadowing to draw upon) is that he means to unite the physical world with the fade. Beings that have lived in such a world (immortal elvhen) would be able to adapt without trouble. For everyone else, the world would likely become a terrifying and dangerous (though fantastical and beautiful) place.

- In the long run, everyone may benefit. That seems like a trade off Solas might be willing to make. Sacrificing a rather large portion of the current inhabitants of Thedas for a good chance at a happier, fuller existence for everyone may well be worth it in the eyes of an immortal being. He plans for the long haul.

I have the oddest hunch that the harts above might actually be halla, so Ghil's domain.  Remember, the Dalish carve their horns into the shapes we're familiar with- their natural state might be more like these.  (Theory hunch: the carved horns originally functioned to channel and focus fade energy like a mage's staff does, so their ancient elvhen riders didn't have to waste a hand wielding one in battle.)

If that's the case, though, I can't believe Solas has the balls to bring Lavellan here for their big romantic interlude/breakup.

Really, Solas?  Given what we know about the Bear and the Halla maiden, this is where you bring us?  Are you serious?

I think that since the veil in thin there, and that since the place is an important place (which I assume) Solas has been to in the past, that Solas brought Lavellan there to show her ancient memories.

If he would've just said 'yo, babe. I'm de Dread Wolf" do you think she would've believed him? (even if he phrased it differently).

He wanted to tell her the truth (that's been confirmed by Weeeeeeeeeekes), I think he has been planning to tell her the truth for a while and came up with a plan to show her relevant memories so she would believe him.

There is a reason he says 'the veil is thin here, can you feel it tingling your skin?'.

Plus the drawings, plus the Fade-Knocker, plus statues of Fen'Harel and Falon'Din on the road to the ruins.

I've pretty much convinced myself he took her there to show her ancient memories.

They also came at night, it could be it's more romantic but it could also be because he wanted it to be easier to fall asleep.

Anyhow, I feel compelled staring at these drawings now, I must.. Understand.. Their meanings!

I think he just brought her there because it was pretty and the devs could light it real romantic-like. Assholes.

There are prettier places in Emerald Graves (though they probably wanted a place that was 100% unlocked by player) :P

Skyhold at night is really pretty too.

They've hidden many messages and hints in the game, it makes sense to me it's one of many. It's generally true these ruins have significance since Cory ordered his Lieutenant to search them. There is a letter near the ruins that tells the templars/vints to copy all of the text they find in the ruins. It's an important place that was reduced to a wyvern's nest. Plus, Solas' comment on the veil in the area makes it obvious it's not just a place he's taken her to.

Cullen takes romanced Inqi to a lake (I just peeked, it looks like Crestwood as well), and in there you can't find suspicious stuff.

But it could also be because that place is romantic,

TBH I'm just desperate for clues.

I'm proud of myself that I can see the guy from that show that helped ruined my childhood channel and laugh at it rather than frothing in rage and throwing my computer through a window. :P

But yeah, I'm on board with the 'Solas was going to show Lavellan proof' train.

Good thing I just stared at a pretty map until it gave me ideas, then.

I figure laconic chapters, because it fits with Corypheus's style. This is largely an experiment in style, and a way of giving poor Coryflora some tender love and care.

So my thought was, in no particular order:

1) Escaping Vimmark in the Larius Meatmobile.

2) High-tailing it to Emerius only to realize the Imperium isn't there.

3) Heading to the old places of power in Tevinter in the guise of a Grey Warden. Research. Would meeting Calpernia be here?

4) At some point, gathering the Venatori.

5) Bianca giving away the secret of red lyrium at Bartrand's Folly.

6) Recruiting Sampson.

7) Laying the groundwork for the infiltration of the Templars.

8) Investigating elven ruins. Getting the Orb. (Somehow.  )

Anymore anyone can think of?

In regards to meeting Calpernia - when you meet her 'owner' (Magister Erasthenes) he says that Cory came to his door (I'm guessing in Minrathous because he says he was a scholar there) and takes Calpernia. How he knows of Calpernia I have no idea.

I wonder if he shows up at the door in Magister form.... would he have to duck down!? Now I just have that image in my mind.. "Hello! Do you have a moment talk about the dawn of a new Thedas?"

I would have assumed that he'd show up as a GW at Erasthenes door. But Erasthenes makes it sound like it was Cory himself, believing he was after the old God relics that he had. Unlike Bianca who actually talks about meeting Larius/Janeka.

..But he must have been in a guise. That dude is huge and not in any way subtle. I know Tevinter is crazy, but surely they would not have ignored Cory just walking around their Capital City...right?

Man I want to go to Minrathous.

@RoyalRey: Dem cheekbones.   :o  B) (That's a warm-up?! What the devil are you working up to, then? A fresco to outdo Solas? :P )

So I have a bit of a confession to make.

My name is Caddius, and I'm a lapsed writer.

AA*: Hi, Caddius.

But when we were discussing whether we could still respect Solas if he gave up his thousand-year goal for a relationship, Rebby and Liz's comments got me thinking and churning.

So, about a week ago, I started digging through my old emergency Masterfile of all of my notes and rough drafts. There's a lot. It's mildly organized. Thanks, Rebby and Liz. Thanks a lot for inspiring me.  <_<

<snip the rest to save my emoticons>

Welcome to Hell! *joking*

All of your ideas..color me intrigued. Though, if you do the Cory one, there needs to be a scene of him rolling up his stockings. :D

Ack! I was about to put down a few suggestions and just realized there is a trove of things we don't know about and someone can write!

Just...do whatever you think you could write a lot about. Go nuts! I must see!

About the drug thingy...

I actually don't drink much alcohol (my bf is in AA so I abstain for his comfort)

If I have a drug, it is caffeine. I know, I know. *Solas Dissaproves*

They were elven ruins...with animal bones all over the place.  If it was important beyond that - *shrug*.  Honestly, we know why he took her there - to tell her the truth. He failed and bailed.

Cullen's is HELLA suspicious, he takes you to a dock on a lake which was the site of a massacre for the whole dam town of Crestwood.

I decided the reason they didn't invite Solas to play wicked grace is that they knew they'd lose all of their belongings.

Cullen really did fail with picking a location but in suspicious I meant it holds no meaning to the LI XD

At least.. I think..

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Cullen takes you to a dock south east of Crestwood, called like Tree Trout Farm Lake or something like that?

Everyone would lose all their money and clothes to Solas playing Wicked Grace.

That would have made for a much more interesting game and walk of shame.

Sigh, this just makes me wish even more that we got Witcher and Red Dead style mini games... I'd love this game 6ever if we could do that with all the characters.

And you couldn't beat Cole because he reads your mind, lol.

So I may have woke up to catch this and then fallen back asleep before joining the chat. I hope your testing went well?

Yep! turns out i can still make it public! The con is hangout air has a time limit of 8 hours so i'd have to turn it off at some point. OR I could test to see if I could make the broadcast occur later in the chat since nothing really happens until later in the night. The youtube video tells me that I accidentally ended the chat halfway. So I need to be more careful next time. Hmm.. and the link will change every week so I'd need to find a custom url redirecter where I could link someone the chat but can customize it to change the url of the shortened url.

I want to try again later this week before I post the final event link on friday. also i'm connsidering changing the time to 6pm or 5pm est because I'm late to my own hangout anyway.

Oh that's super cool then. I think I tried to join sometime around like 3am PST, the link still worked then but obviously no one was there haha. The time change would be a bit nicer for me too.. I think I'm always like a hour or two late as well.

yeah around 3am-ish (EST) or 11pm for you. everyone was tired so we ended. Also the yawning became a chain.
