Here's an interesting thought. You know how Cole will start talking about a memory or a thought from one of your companions? We obviously can't have such an exchange with the PC since everyone's story and background will be different. So... if Cole were to bring up a thought or memory from your character, what would the banter look like?

 

"So many feelings, thoughtful fretting, like the eye of the storm, she goes there for peace, helplessly hoping that he'll find her, the feelings are wrong, worrying worrying, but oh so serene, what does it mean?"

 

Edit: Obviously this is post game, I guess Cole keeps an eye on her while she's frolicking about the Emerald Graves.

Gonna be honest, I really hope that locking the romance in after Solas breaks up with you means that something more will come. I hope it isn't some weird programming thing that forces a romance to be locked in at some point because it has to be saved in the Keep or whatever.

 

I don't want to join any team here or express an opinion about what's to come but I am pretty sure (to put it mildly) that there's no programming reasons for locking the romance at that point.

 

 

If we hadn't had that? It's not something I've thought about, but a lot of people freaked out and now only see him as evil incarnate..

 

Well, you know, there's a lot of different people with a lot of different tastes and different ways to look at the world and judge and stuff. I mean, I took a look at the Blackwall thread and there's actually... like really (!) people who not only like but are all crazy in love over him. If I can accept that I can accept about everything.

Flames sleep across him. Just smothered enough by the cloth to steel her thoughts. Noise batters her brain. It wants to make her afraid. “Are you with the Chantry or..?”

Quick but sweet. Like the spoon hitting the glass. She turns. Eyes bright. Growing. She still feels it. The warmth lingers on her wrist. Soft rose moves across his rising face. “Was that a serious question?”

She swallows it down, bursting. It wants to know him. It wants.

Erm, so, guys, since the breakup happens when you talk to Solas after the Temple... what happens if you don't talk to him? x) Does it force the cutscene on you or...? Vain hope.

 

You won't "complete" the romance if you don't do that final scene so it won't trigger his romance dialogue after defeating Coryfish. 

 

 

 

On a completely unrelated note I have just gotten two teeth pulled. There were no drugs and I'm so disappointed. ^{My mouth and face are on fire}

Dunno about gravity lol and I know it's a joke, but jokes aside, if dwarves are resistant to magic, I assume the sun's rays are like magic, so it'd be cool if in game they were actually almost immune to sun damage, lol.

 

Sun damage? What ability tree is that in? How do I upgrade it? Is it available for warriors, too? Does it work against Templar Shadows? How could this pass me by? Damnit.

Oooh, I love banter!  Hmmm...Cole only sees painful or fearful memories, so let's grab one from before the Conclave.  And we'll toss in a bit of Solas for relevance.

 

Cole: She hears screaming before she sees.  Templar, mage, something that once was a mage but isn't.  Fire and force wither the forest, send her scattering with the animals for safety.  Training takes over, hand over her mouth to stifle a scream.

Lavellan: Cole...

Cole: It isn't over quickly.  It lingers, and it's her arrow that ends the templar's suffering.  Feet fly, heart pounds, carrying her back to the safety that isn't safe now.

Solas: Is that why your clan sent you to the Conclave?

Lavellan: I...yes.  My Keeper did her best to keep us away from the fighting.  It didn't last.

Cole: You kept them safe.  You helped, even if it didn't feel like helping.

Lavellan: No, it didn't.  But thanks anyway, Cole.

I used to have a theory that because of the spirit/physical duality of the ancient elves, they would adapt/alter themselves unknowingly to whatever beings they encountered, similar to the way a spirit takes on the traits they observe in people.  And this was the reason elves coming in contact with humans would lose their immortality (becoming more human) and perhaps the Qunari were elves that lived so closely with dragons they took on dragon-like traits.  I haven't discarded all of that theory in regards to elven duality, but since DA:I has suggested that Qunari might be more of an intentional breeding project gone awry, I've been thinking that theories like yours are more likely where the Qunari are concerned.

 

 

I'm totally onboard with the spirit/physical duality of ancient elves.  I tend to be quiet on the whole "Does Fen'Harel body hop?" bandwagon, but I personally think that Solas/Fen'Harel and all the original elvhen "gods" were the physical manifestations of spirits - not unlike Cole.  (Tangent...I think Cole is Dirthamen >.>) Fen'Harel is the manifestation of Free Will, Mythal would have been vengeance or protection, etc.  They're MORE than that though because like Cole they have a physical side now, and that side can grow and develop in ways the Spirit cannot.  Does any of that make sense?  I frequently confuse myself with these odd thoughts...

I wish there was a start from last creation or 'template'. I wanted my first CC on my cannon and I got close...but not quite right. Thankfully I have grown to love her more.

Or a new game + feature.  Start a new game based on a previous save.

Lysaris did get a MOSTLY happy childhood. Her mother died in childbirth with her brother and her father was really distant, but her relationship with her brother was rock solid and she had the whole rest of the clan to take care of her. She was definitely NOT an unhappy child, she just had some issues with her own father in particular. They didn't carry across into her other relationships the way some Daddy issues tend to. What I really needed was a reason why she would choose to weild a sword that is bigger than she is. So I chose MO: impress father. It didn't, and that goes without saying, but it did bring her and her brother closer in kind of a round about way. I don't think I'm capable of writing 'generic' Lavellan either, so you're in good company.

 

The comment about unhappy backstory wasn't directed specifically at you.  Sorry if that wasn't clear  It was Shepard who turned me off the whole angsty backstory thing.  I didn't follow Mass Effect as closely as some BioWare games, so I didn't play it until a few months after it came out.  I just picked the default Earthborn/Sole Survivor backstory.

 

Then I got to thinking about what kind of person such a background would actually produce, and I was definitely creeped out.  I wound up really liking my Shepard and sticking with her, but she had mental walls and trust issues that could rival Solas's

They gave me anti-biotics. But I was looking forward to some sort of magic gas to take me to Narnia...all I got was 6 needles in my face...And the worst part is I gotta go back in two days to get more taken out.

A year ago I had to remove my 2 wisdom teeth.. I wasn't having that, too scared and too scared of gum injections.. so I went under total anesthesia XD such a relief to wake up and know that it's already done XD

It's simple, lure your enemies to the beach, convince them you just want to make sand castles and play in the water half naked, then watch as they writhe in horrible horrible pain.

 

Side note, I must be dwarven as I've never had a sunburn no matter how long I was outside, lol.

My first playthrough I went Travelyan and started off romancing Blackwall. That was pretty dull so when I finished his revelations quest, I dumped him and Cullen comforted me through the rest of that game. He was sweet, but a bit boring. My Trav got along super well with Solas (I played a mage) and I thought he was a great character, then I saw the stinger and I was stunned. How had I missed that? Were there clues? Was I too busy smooching DA Ken on the ramparts to see what was right in front of me? I HAD to know more about Solas. So I rolled up a mage Lavellan for the sole purpose of getting to know him better and I fell hard. Even knowing what was coming didn't dampen the depth of my heartache. Best Bioware romance ever. My favorite Bioware companion of all time. I could never hate Solas. Angry, hurt, disappointed? You bet!

 

Now I'm on my 3rd playthough because....feels. *crawls into the pillow fort*

 

I have this problem with both Dorian and Solas. Gah. In my first run I went with Solas, then my second to make it more different I rolled a male and romanced Dorian. Then it all went downhill. My third run was meant to be a Cullen romance so I rolled a human to avoid Solas, got to Skyhold, and then was bored of being human and really really disliked the Cullen romance. Playthrough ditched and I moved over to a Nightmare Mode Male Lavellan I had saved. Was going to try romancing one of the ladies or maybe IB. Dorian smiled, instantly fell into the Dorian romance again. Created another playthrough with a female Adaar for IB. Completed Champions of the Just and had just arrived in the Fallow Mire when I decided I wanted to do a perfect run of my canon world state, so I made another female Lavellan who is romancing Solas (my current run.)

 

THERE ARE 8 ROMANCES. 8. YET I HAVE ACHIEVED AT ROMANCING LESS CHARACTERS THAN IN THE PREVIOUS GAMES WHERE THERE WERE ONLY FOUR. I don't include Seb because he's DLC.

 

It doesn't help that outside my FemLavellan I much prefer rolling as the male Inquisitor. That at least keeps me away from Solas, but not Dorian.

One day, one day I'll see the Cass/Josie/IB romances first hand. Maybe Sera. Not Cullen's though, and not Blackwall either (he's growing on me after bringing him everywhere, but not as a romance.)

 

Haha XD My Lavellan is weird, she is constantly shouting "Solas needs help!!", then I look at Solas and he's completely fine, with almost full health and his pretty barrier on, and I'm like "SHUT UP, he doesn't! >.>".

I wonder what has she been smoking? It's like as soon as someone even touches him she goes like "NNnnnnnNnOOoo Leeave him be!"

 

My Lavellan does this for Dorian, Solas and Cole. All. The. Time. 

And every time they are completely fine because I've massively overlevelled.

Augh, why do people keep having Solas say "ma vhenan." I can't trust a fic's characterization when they make such a basic mistake--Solas literally calls Lavellan "vhenan" at least three times*, plus more if you pester him constantly (when he's in the "hello"/"my heart"/"vhenan" cycle of greetings). He never once calls her "ma vhenan."

 

* Less depending on certain dialogue choices**, but he still never calls her "ma vhenan."

1) "Ar lath ma, vhenan." (second romance scene)

2) "Don't concern yourself, vhenan. She is... apart from herself." (Sera banter, if you choose the angry response to her)

3) "Please, vhenan." (last romance scene, if Lavellan chooses the sad option)

 

I don't know if there are any other times, but I keep seeing the "ma vhenan" mistake everywhere and I don't know why. @_@

You would think that yea. Guess it depends on how good that magic resistance is... What is the sun anyway in dragon age lore? Or is it just.. there.

 

And lol even without siri, I think the spelling check dumbs me down, lol. Every now and then I have to reset firefox for one reason or another and the spelling check goes away for a few days, and it really screws me up for the first day. I make stupid ass spelling mistakes I never should, lol.

And secondly... I always forget this was a last minute romance. It's really well done so I don't think of it like that. I mean yea it would have been awesome if there was more... but it also really works well as is.

 

I am really hoping that more Solas content gets added in patches or DLC.  I love his romance but it just needs more.  (Although Solas being my first and so far only romance (I keep playing my Lavellan...) means that my Cullen/Trevalyan romance is going to confuse me with the amount of content.  And the happy ending.  And the lack of sadness.)

I just don't get tired of saying it: romanced Solas has 30% more screen time than romanced Cullen.
