Yes, that is rather a dodgy question to ask a juvenile isn't it??? Of course we don't know that Cole is under age...

But re-reading it I think Solas is attempting to explore his own attraction to the Inquisitor, perhaps he's wondering the effects that "coming through the veil" [which again is full of sexual references] has on sexuality?

It's late! That's my excuse. But really, musing on the theories as to why/how Solas gave Corypheus the orb, all I could think up was the helpful mental image of Solas-as-Dread-Wolf-no-really-as-a-wolf (or maybe a dog) bounding up to Cory with the orb in his mouth like a ball, and dropping it at the feet of the blighted magister while cocking his head to one side and wagging his tail expectantly.

Corypheus: MAGISTERS DO NOT PLAY FETCH. (examines orb) I AM KEEPING THIS, HOWEVER.

Fen'Harel: ...whimper?

I mean, really.

Flemeth/Mythal: Dread Wolf! You should not have given him your orb.

Fen'Harel: Whiiiine.

It all clearly comes down to a matter of power. He thought Cory could unlock the power of FETCH. He can't do it alone! Poor Solas / Dread Wolf.

...please tell me someone else has considered this possibility. #TheTruthIsOutThere

I think Oxie already figured out how the ancient elves at Skyhold did their plumbing.  Maybe the humans who built modern Skyhold after them tried to follow their example, but instead of the Fade, they used the walls?

You know what fact about medieval military life (and armies in general) left out?

Food, water, and waste. On a massive, mind-boggling scale. And all the disgusting diseases that begin to spread when you have a giant gathering of soldiers and camp-followers, all without proper hyigene.

:( As a germaphobe I'd rather face Greek fire than the filth.

(That's a lie no one prefers to face Greek fire.)

I wonder if the Qunari have the Greek fire equivalent... ^_^

Latrine and laundry detail.... So important, and, as you say, overlooked in games.

Read some stuff about the Iraq war and the troops assigned to  funerary duties pretty hair-raising and stressful, but, again, an incredibly essential part of any modern army.

Gaatlok questions drove me to the wikia's Qunari page, and I never knew these before:

  • All the races in Thedas are said to live approximately the same length of natural life, but Qunari have developed advanced medicine and sanitation, which allows them to extend their life span to some degree.[33]
  • No Qunari has ever joined the Grey Wardens. There are, however, rumours of several Tal-Vashoth taking the Joining in recent decades.[34]
  • The Qunari claim that they do not dream as humans and elves do. This claim seems to be valid as they are rarely encountered in the Fade.[35]

http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Qunari

That last one especially is interesting. Could that be one of the reasons why the Saarebas in DA2 had such a different style of magic?

And what does this mean for the Qunari-were-once-elves or Qunari-were-experiments theories?

I really hope we get to see Par Vollen and Seheron in DA4 >_<

I think Solas is asking in an academic way (since the banter doesn't depend on playing Lavellan). I can't remember the full banter but it's one of Cole and Solas' fade/reading talks.  Cole and his way of looking at the world are fascinating to Solas.  He's a spirit, but he also made himself human.  Solas is wondering if that affected Cole in regards to romance (at least Solas is just asking.  Bull sets Cole up with prostitute.)

Yes but the fact that Solas isn't romancing or hasn't been romanced by Lavellen doesn't mean that he isn't sexual attracted to her or that he doesn't have sexual impulses... I would dispute that any question, especially one like that, could be merely "academic".

I can't find it on the net, but Sera and Blackwall have this banter where he says he knew a noble once that had a servant dedicated to potty duty. Can't remember the details though, just that it was funny

Most of Cole and Solas' banters are pretty academic (and weird).  It's part of the reason why the other party members find these talks uncomfortable (except Dorian) - they're discussing really bizarre stuff like they're going over a shopping list.  They're discussing attraction, Cole doesn't understand it, Solas is curious about Cole's views.

Yep, I think Solas's just curious about what Cole is, so he's quizzing him about things like attraction and whether he needs to eat and stuff like that. He does project during Cole's personal quest, but not all of his banters had to be about projecting, just plain curiosity

The basement of Suledin Keep is very...void-y.  I wonder if that's why Corypheus knew the red lyrium would grow better there, and why there's few spirits.

I can't remember, but was Suledin keep built by elves or humans?

He's probably looking back here, wondering if he should have told her the truth instead. Maybe she wouldn't have rejected him. Maybe he didn't have to be alone.

I heard there was something up with Fen'Harel in the game and that Solas was somehow involved. Honestly it's what convinced me to buy the game, as I was on the fence about that prior to release. Then the romance telegraphed so much that it was going to be a Morrigan type ending where the relationship was doomed. I still didn't know what was up. Started to get an inkling during the mountaintop scene that Solas was involved in the Breach, but I figured he was an ancient elf. The post-credits scene had me agape as much as anyone.

Honestly the big surprise for me was not that Solas was not what he seemed, but that I liked his character so much, and that elven lore took such a central stage in the later game. I had not expected that and I think it's fair to say it not only won me over to DAI, but won me back to DA in general.

Oh right. And the hot springs are there because supposedly that's where Elgar'nan buried the Sun.

The ancient elves really were everywhere, weren't they? No wonder Solas and Felassan were so torn up over what they've become.

I haven’t finished the game yet, although I have been spoiled, slow start because of computer issues. The 1st thing I thought when I met Solas was that Bioware were recreating Anders, this is because of the dialogue between him and Cassandra in my early parties, Cassandra is very suspicious of him, if I recall correctly she asked him where he comes from why he’s staying, where he is going. Let’s not forget that Cassandra is an interrogator by profession. And she very clearly thinks something is not quite right with this dude. But it’s not only is that of course, how does Solas know that your mark will close the fade breach? Highly suspicious.

When I spoke to him and haven expected him to be sympathetic towards me as a Dalish elf, to my surprise he wasn’t, he spoke of my people as being ignorant and wilfully so but in such a moderate reasonable tone that I found myself thoroughly enjoying that conversation with him although we did not reach an agreement at the end. I think the that it was shortly after that that I began to get a bit bored with him, for while it was all about Dorian even though I knew Dorian was gay. So Solas was put on the backburner.

That lasted until the destruction of Haven and the discovery of Skyhold and then the Fade kiss happened and I was hooked. So then I cruised the net a little bit looking him up and I discovered The Big Reveal… So, I haven't had the courage to move towards the end yet, I have been telling myself, it was because I was waiting for the PlayStation patch… But that might not really be the case. I will have to do something about this in the next few days.

Solas is AWESOME. BioWare, is, once again, AWESOME.

I never personally just spoiled myself.. what happened was that I was on youtube and I read some comments and SOMEONE HAPPENED TO MENTION IT WITHOUT HIDING IT and I was like: WAT!? Ö_Ö

But I am glad they did.. because.. I don't think I would've romanced him otherwise.. but because I got to know who he is and it ALL MADE SENSE I did.

Ok but joking aside, I'm 90% sure Flemeth's the real main character (aside from Thedas) of DA
