Hi, is this still the Solas thread?
You know, in a way, the Inquisitor is a lot like that pawn. You start out as a nobody, but are moved into a position where you affect the entire world, through the machinations of powerful beings. And Solas is willing to sacrifice more important pieces (Flemeth?) in order to get that pawn to the end.
Yeah. I wonder if he would sacrafice you for his goal. I debate this back and forth - would he kill the Inquisitor(even a romanced one) to complete his goal? Sometimes, I say 'yes'. If he was willing to sacrafice Flemeth - probably one of his last dearest friends who knew EXACTLY what he was then I think he would -- even a romanced Lavellan. To say that you have a magical healing vagina that erases his dedication to his cause is negating who he is a bit. Do I think he would try to do everything NOT to get to that point...certainly.
Then again, maybe he couldn't. Maybe he doesn't even realize yet how important his time with the Inquisition was. That he could trust a group again and it wasn't all going to go to 'hell'. That they would care about his well-being and want to help him. Maybe that realization would stay his hand.

Nonononono... I was just getting hopeful again. I don't wanna start on this spiral again because I am pretty sure he would hate himself for doing it but he would totally sacrifice anyone and anything to do whatever it is he thinks is "right".

Oh definitely. He would be devastated with a romanced/bff Inquisitor and he would probably welcome death. Which would be this over-wrought dark ending...everybody is dead. I would kind of enjoy it in my own twisted way. I do not want this to happen as the ONLY option. If IT was an option, I would be ok with it. Just to see how it plays out.
I agree. Bioware provided so many insights and hints at Solas' character, this is clearly a very intentionally constructed scene used to demonstrate that every move matters and even a pawn can change everything. *sob*
Yep! I actually think that unless you take Solas around and listen to his banters, you never really know him. Every time I hear someone mouthing off about "I hate Solas" and "he's such an irredeemable jerk with no good qualities whatsoever why do you even like him" it's always coupled with "I've never taken him out of Skyhold ever". Just talking to Solas never gives you even close to the full picture! They reveal so much about him in his party banter and I thought that was really awesome.
You guys, stop having these bad thoughts ![]()

SOLAS AND LAVELLAN 5-EVER!

I don't think it will play out that way. That's too dark for Bioware.

Looking through that thread is great oh my god. I remember exactly how I felt when we first got the Solas reveal and I was not happy about it. Heck, I still wish that Solas was just an ancient elf. Too much heartbreak in the future if he's the Dread Wolf. ![]()
Edit: Oh yeah, top Solas!
Do you ever get the feeling that someone is watching you?

Yeah. Like Abelas. *sigh* Just when I think I'm out those thighs pull me right back in:

I'm curious, what graphics level do you guys play at? Some of you post some shots that look way better than mine. Do you all have awesome gigs that can run everything at ultra?
or is that the ps4/xbox graphic?
On a somewhat related matter.. this just happened to me:
I reached out for my pocket to grab my lip balm. When I took it out, my thumb was covering the last letter "e".
Yeah. Like Abelas. *sigh* Just when I think I'm out those thighs pull me right back in:
This reminds me that my friend has decided she ships Solas and Abelas together. ![]()
This reminds me that my friend has decided she ships Solas and Abelas together.
Rabbit has a picture she's working of them making out. I love it more than I thought I would. I ship Abelas/Love. Grumpy Abelas finding love is my current favorite. I love that he has a fandom even though he was in the game for like 10 min. I hope he comes back.
Do we know that he sacrificed Flemeth? It seemed to me as if that was as much Flemeth's own will as it was Solas'.
I do think he'd sacrifice her for the greatest good (not the greater good, I think it would have to be more than that) but he'd never forgive himself and slowly succumb to darkness. It makes for great lore to think that the one way for him to really become like the Dread Wolf of Legends is to sacrifice his love® for his people.

If the Cullen fandom is any indication, if you're loud enough Abelas may just become a key character.
All in good fun, Cullen fans! I always admired your tenacity and I'm glad it paid off in such a big way! I now think he's great too!
Woooh got younger Solas haircut now ^^
Hi, is this still the Solas thread?
Yep sorry, got carried away there
. Was scrounging through some Filipino myths that could possibly relate to Dalish lore and Solas, and one thing led to another. I tend to get waylaid in conversations easily ![]()
As for my search, I'm not turning up anything relevant so far. I tried looking at trickster tales, and no go. We have a very different type compared to Fen'Harel. Ours tend to be subversive, sometimes smart sometimes dumb people from the lower classes, trying to trick the rich and powerful into trading places with them, which I suppose fits with the modern forever-oppressed Filipino metanarrative. Fen'Harel in Dalish legend is still a lot closer to Loki, in that he's part of the pantheon of gods, so he's in no way lower class, and he's presented as this mischievous figure who tends to do things just for kicks, or because he doesn't like traits like kindness or benevolence.
I'll try looking at myths next, though I still doubt I'll end up finding anything ![]()

She knew he was going to do it regardless so she accepted it. Flemeth's body was old so instead of just dying, her life can serve one final purpose...powering up the Dread Wolf. Mythal/Flemeth can get their justice with Solas...I imagine whatever he is going to do is tied up in what happened to Mythal.

Heh, yeah, you weren't the biggest fan of the whole "dread wolf" thing.
I was...I dunno. I was more positive about it than I remember myself being, but my big worry was that he was lying about everything. And because I'd fallen for Solas the Strange Fade Nerd and not Solas the Dread Wolf I was feeling really conflicted. So, in the end, I don't mind how it turned out. Solas ended up being a way more complex character than I thought he'd be. And the fact that he obviously loves Lavellan very much, and tries to tell her the truth whenever he can, is enough for me.
And I finally got to the spot where this was posted in the thread!

I love how it still applies to Solas, even though we didn't think he was the Dread Wolf at the time. ![]()
Omg!That picture is so eerily awesome.@ jellobell
