For Valentine's Day. xD

I read a book review of The World of Thedas (I don't have the book for myself) and the reviewer said it stated that the Elven gods were locked away in the Black City. Maybe I just didn't get the memo, but do we already know for sure that's where Fen'harel locked them away in the Fade? I guess I thought the specific location in the Fade where they were sealed was being kept ambiguous on purpose.
I apologize for being clueless if I should have known this already by now. ![]()

Well that is what the legend says, but who knows how much you can rely on those legends? "For all your 'knowledge', Lady Morrigan, you cannot resist giving legend the weight of history" --Solas
Here's the paragraph from WoT (page 143 for those who have it):
"Old elven beliefs call it 'the Beyond', a holy place once home to their gods. What little of elven lore has survived speaks of Fen'Harel, a trickster god who schemed to take the Beyond for himself, imprisoning his brethren in the Eternal City at its heart. The elves believe their gods remain trapped in the prison to this day, as Fen'Harel, the Dread Wolf, gleefully patrols the Beyond to feast upon the souls of the dead."
I'm a fool to keep applying real world logic when any unexplained situation is pointed towards magic.
Or to apply real word logic to a video game of any kind lol

"We are vilified by legend. They spit on our deeds and claim we brought darkness into the world. We discovered the darkness. We claimed it as our own, let it permeate our being."
So the magisters consumed elven god dark goo? ![]()
Just read this fantastic Solavellan Dishonored AU:
http://archiveofouro...g/works/3294380
It's a little OOC, with Solas acting more like the Fen'Harel of Dalsih legends, but the prose and accurate Dunwall atmosphere more than makes up for it. Also, if you liked Maleficar's "Empress" you'll probably like this too.

LOL elven god dark goo
I have no idea. It begs the questions: What is the taint? Are the elven gods really locked away in the Black City?

We don't know for certain. But it is implied in a few places that the elven gods are corrupted and possibly within the Black City.
As for 'what is the taint'- I imagine that's the real question of Dragon Age. Who started it, and what is the end purpose? Is it just like a disease Thedas has, or is it moving with some sort of goal?

I just hope the taint isn't something elven in origin. Wouldn't make sense with the song of the old gods. I want something more unfamiliar, something the old gods may indirectly be connected to, but that we've yet to see for ourselves. If it's another case of "I'm not saying it was elves, but it was elves." Then it will get rather dull.

Had to.

I don't think it will turn out to be created by elves... but I do think there's a good chance they were the original targets of the taint and possibly encouraged the spread once their gods got ahold of it.
But who knows. It could still be. On reddit it was theorized that the elves might have utilized it to either try and remove the humans [being immortal, the elves could wait to reclaim 'tainted' land], or the elven gods might have tried to create the 'song' to hold onto power.
Personally, I am hoping it might be dwarven in origin, or something completely otherworldly. Dwarven because they control the void [theoretically], and because they haven't really made a lot of contribution to the ancient world. We've barely explored what is up with ancient dwarves. It is time for someone else to share the burden of screwing up Thedas!
what. but it's not. distance between skyhold and the location takes weeks to- well, ok.
xD Can you imagine?
"Inquisitor, where are you going?"
"To a date".
.. 3 weeks later...
"Welcome back inquisitor.. how was your date?"
*after spending a week and a half in solitude traveling back to Skyhold* "Great..."
Most awkward walk home ever.
How DO you get the Pride of Arlathan, anyway? I've been searching forever but can't find out how to get it. =/
Sorry if this has been answered already, but IIRC you get it from saving your clan in the war table missions. You get a Hart anyway, and I believe it is that one.

Which reminds me, what the **** exactly is the Void? It sounds like another realm you can only get to underground, and not just a layer of earth.

No idea! All we know is that it seems to be connected to the ground, and that dwarves may have had contact with it. Although even the Anvil of the Void comes from the time of the first blight, rather than before. According to legend, Andruil hunted within it and became corrupted by 'something'. Fen'Harel was able to transverse it, presumably undisturbed.
Maybe some sort of alternate fade? We hardly know anything about the Forgotten Ones, too. Which seems odd if they are going to end up being important.
Colonel. I approve of your signature change xD

And Fen'harel wandering it makes sense if the legends of him being kin to both camps is true. He did make that painting of Thedas (pretty sure it's thedas but some people say the fade). And it looks like he made the void layer where I assume the arch demons are, though the eyes kinda throw me off as those could be related to him as well.
Random speculation again, so I'm not going to say "what if", but it'd be cool if the whole world was still actually connected to the fade in a way, and the void, was really the top layer of the fade, the "beyond" that we assumed souls went when people died, past the fade. So if you go down far enough, you could enter the fade.
Colonel. I approve of your signature change xD
XD lol, thank you
All of you indeed need Andraste ![]()
I had a musing with not much founding that perhaps the void might be a world just for spirits and demons. And the fade is sort of a meeting point between both groups. Where they exist together. The void would be like the origin point for spirits.
If it is like the fade, that might explain why Fen'Harel is able to transverse it safely. He'd be able to do it for the same reasons that he can walk safe in the fade. But Andruil, who went to the void looking for monsters, found them.

Are you actually Andrastian? Or are you saying it to be ironic aha
Edit: I meant do you prefer choosing the Chantry beliefs over others...not that you actually believe it...

I want to know what these things are! We need DLC with Solas...not just for the smoochies...but I think he's the key to getting that information. Can the Herald entire the Void possibly with the Anchor??? So many questions.
If Solas intends on bringing down the Veil, I hope it's not a cataclysmic event. I hope there's actual value in doing that, though it may cause a lot of problems. Is bringing down the Veil, Dragon Age's version of the Singularity?
The Void is where the Forgotten Ones lived, according to Andruil's new codex. I don't think spirits/demons go there, which is why I think it's where the Black City is located in the real world, because spirits and demons don't go to the Black City, even in the Fade. It may be in the center of the planet, but I don't think it's dwarven, because I think it's more of a separate realm of reality than simply "underground". That place "beyond the Fade" that Justice says spirits believe exists, but have never seen.
The Old Gods are connected to the taint, and they are heavily hinted to be either the Forgotten Ones or the Creators, so we're likely looking at elves either way. Perhaps they didn't create the taint, but whoever the Old Gods are, they are the masters of the Blight. If they didn't create it, but merely weaponized it, I think the Blight may be inherent to Thedas' cosmology, maybe a force of magic entropy. (Which might explain why nothing from the Fade, such as spirits, exist there, and why it would be such a terrible weapon to a race like the ancient elves who were magical in nature.)
