Yeah. After Lavellan has dealt with varric's various "betrayals" with Corypheus and Bianca - both of which caused more immediate and actual problems, I think she would be like "alright, solas, enough with the self-pity". We're going to fix this but not your way. Also there are about 20 other things that you have to take responsibility for, one of which is leaving me high and dry in a wyvern pit.
Not going to lie, while I made the Inigo Montoya parallel, I'm not sure his reasons for vengeance/ responsibility are quite so clear/ worthy to me.
Yeah, I get that you sealed peeps away and **** didn't go the way you planned. But you weren't 12 years old and your father murdered before your eyes by a clear, singular culprit. That sort of vengeance and justice CAN be realized. But what he's hoping for is so amorphous that someone claiming any ability to control it is.. either incredibly stupid or incredibly arrogant. Probably both.
Moreover, no ONE person can be responsible for the fate of an empire, especially one so fraught with interior strife and betrayal, teetering on socio-economic collapse in a slave rebellion (whether it had happened yet, or was about to happen, or not they won is something else entirely). A whole lot of hands were in that pie that extended beyond even the pantheon.
To the point that I'm not entirely sure what his goals are. Releasing the Elvhen gods is counter-productive. They proved they were **** leaders, a few thousand years in isolation hardly helped their character flaws. In fact, it probably exacerbated them. Bringing them back would surely result in the exact same thing with more unhinged insanity. More slavery. More blood sacrifice. More betrayals. More world-wide destruction for power. For all of the Elvhen Empire's tales of forests and spires winding through the trees, their rivalries and the results thereof (see Andruil and Falon'Din) were such that I'm shocked Thedas survived. All of them brought out at once after millenia of cabin fever behind eluvians sounds like the worst idea. Pretty much... ever.
So that can't be his goal. If it's to restore the Elvhen Empire without the Gods themselves - that I could maybe see. But that would require "fixing" whatever started or continues to cause the Quickening. It would also require bringing the Elves to a knowledge of what they once were so they could become it again - but what did that lead to the last time they attempted to create Arlathan? The Dales, Red Crossing, and the Exalted Marched. Bad news, as I remember. Moreover, their collective history/ mythology has been so far corrupted that he's already been labeled a madman and a liar in the past by the Dalish. Revealing his identity would only further his condemnation.
TL;DR: Solas needs a sassy gay friend to ask him "WHAT, WHAT, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Cause clearly Dorian dropped the ball. As did the Inquisitor. *badum tsssh*
