Teach me. He has a fully upgraded weapon and sword tree and as far in champion as I can collect skill points. I always prefer passive abilities, given the new system nothing else is particularly helpful.

 

And apart from that just what Armdin says (about Bull and so on). I totally agree. Armdin ftw!

I just make sure he has bear mauls the wolves and the passives to the right side of that tree, and I make sure he has and uses "to the death", along with bulls charge and warcry, and that's all he really needs. And of course the abilities on the right side of the champion tree when you can get them.

 

If he dies after all that, try using fade touched obsidian. And make sure the armor he wears is of course good, which I assume you already do. Just stating just in case.

 

Otherwise, I guess it's just different for some people in the game.

 

Maybe it's because I'm a tank too so no matter what, we always have at least two tanks in our party, three if blackwall is in it because I never replace Cass with him.

No, I equip everyone around me with shields so I can go in with a greatsword. No way I hide my pretty back with some ugly shield shaped like a giant cheese (looks good on Bull though).

No, I equip everyone around me with shields so I can go in with a greatsword. No way I hide my pretty back with some ugly shield shaped like a giant cheese (looks good on Bull though).

Try the big darkspawn alpha shield. I get that one and make it blood red to match my coat. Pretty sweet.

Can I just say I find it adorable how enthusiastic Gareth David-Lloyd is about playing Solas? I know he would want to continue on for monetary reasons as well, but it makes me happy that he'd be delighted with continuing to portray the character in any form.

He's just adorable in general.  And yeah, hearing VAs get really into their characters never fails to warm my heart.  I loved the FPJ interview where he gushes about Mass Effect, voicing Vega, and Iron Bull.

so I'm watching old Star Trek: TNG, like super old, and of course young(er) Patrick Stewart was rockin' that sexy bald head AS HE IS WONT TO DO and I was thinking of Solas and I'm like, yeah, Sir Patrick looks great, I mean, he's got that kickass jawline, but he's still a tad too old to be Solas BUT THEN I was struck with the memory of Tom Hardy's turn as PICARD'S YOUNG CLONE in Star Trek: Nemesis and I swear you guys birds started singing and BEHOOOOLD my canon Solas:

Bull a tank? You must assign him skills in the sword and shield section then. I keep him alive by giving him skills that build guard, but it's almost never enough for him to truly tank, just survive while he dishes out huge damage. Blackwall when built correctly simply will not die, unless everyone else is dead or something. Cass holds her own and does very well, but blackwall...

Blackwall is just a troll on the battlefield, lol. Which is funny since Cass lorewise seems to be better than him and bull.

I love my tanks. Blackwall and Cass are beasts in the battelfield. When I play my Lavellan rogue I sometimes bring along a party combo of Cass, Blackwall, and Solas and those two make short work of the baddies.

You can keep him alive? Whoever I have with me, he drops like a fly. If there's a nug involved in the fight, the nug will outlive him.

Funny, for me Iron Bull is the one who drops like a fly. xD That's why I barely bring him along and also because he's the one who uses up all my potions.
Also, I seem to have a VERY hard time getting banters out of him.

Do you relate to your Lavellan? I mean, do you play your Lavellan as yourself, based on the same ideas, morals, thoughts etc. or do you make up somebody completely unrelated to yourself? In case it's a different character, why do you build her exactly the way you do?
I find that fascinating because mine usually is me. My decisions, my thoughts, my "back story". (Well, I share Avejajed's approach to back stories, actually.)

Hmm, I tend to play characters based on things I would do (or at least based on things I wish I would do) if I were placed on their shoes. In terms of "tone" my Tala tends to choose the "weepy" options because I can be like that IRL. (I'm a rather emotional person.)
Or sometimes, I just build up their story based on the decisions I make in the game and then I have a clear overview of how my Lavellan is like as a character.

Obviously, I don't project my whole personality into her. My Lavellan is kind of religious, rather flirty, and is a pretty good leader. I am neither of those things. xD

So in short, kind of like me but not really.

As for her reaction to Solas leaving, she definitely cried herself to sleep after the party. (Maybe even having a few drinks to ease the pain in her heart.)
He's her first love, she's still young (I haven't given her an exact age but I'm thinking she's in the 20 to 25 age range). She trusted him, gave him her heart, he broke it and then left her. She then focuses on the Inquisition, and the support and friendship of the Inner Circle to keep her mind off the heartbreak. In the end, I think she comes out of it a stronger woman.

I stand by my claim that he is the best Star Trek villain, with perhaps only Khan surpassing him by a slim margin. Definitely the best looking villain.

I headcannon that my Lavellan wrote him letters after he left to try to ease the loneliness and not miss him so much. It doesn't take long for her to have a chest full of unsent letters.
