Go to Bethesda's forums. They congregate over there, lol. A friend of mine from there's the biggest roman fanboy I know. He was watching Spartacus lately and couldn't just watch that ridiculous show without commenting that the gladiators there were also dicks. Because he tends to play and watch things that shows them as these white knight warriors that can do no wrong and are champions of democracy, justice, morality and blah blah blah.

 

In his defense, american media does this a lot.

Keeping posting amazing theories and fan arts and fics and hilarity and chatter. I cannot wait to see what Bioware does (with Solas) next. Especially if it's a wolf hunt.

I don't agree Krem would be better than Solas, but I do think he would have made for a pretty good and happy romance. Scout Harding and Dagna (and Researcher Minaeve for M!Lavellan, sue me) too, but I'm more than content with the choices we already have 

 

Ooh, that would be a controversial romance leading to a 1000+ page forum thread being shut down after a 25+ page indelicate discussion over whether the Inquisitor is taking advantage of a mentally distressed individual... I think Minaeve has depression, sue me. At the same time I'd love a romance that comes down to "please, come to my room. We'll grouse and see where it goes from there".

 

 

 

 

Totally possible, I guess it's me hoping that Solas would have at least tried the peaceful route first!

Hi fellow Solas fans!

 

I've been lurking in this thread since Inquisition's release, when I, like many of you, found myself inexplicably attracted to the smooth pajama elf, and decided it was about time I joined the fun. I'd gone into the game without a clear idea of who I might romance, initially thinking it would probably be Cullen, and then Solas chuckled and grabbed Lavellan's hand and I barfed insta-love all over the screen romanced him and am ruined forever.

 

Currently nearing the end of my second play through with the same Lavellan, survived the scene again, cried tears again, reflected on what has become of my life and felt silly and sad again. Someone hold me.

 

Aaand, this is my first time posting on a fan forum, and it is all because of Solas. He is a ridiculously interesting character, even without the romance--my favourite Bioware character thus far, in fact--and with the romance, it makes my little brain (and heart) explode. Nice job, writers and GDL and artists. You fucked us all up, in the best way.

There it is.  Imperial fanboys as well, I presume.  I love that Rome was a glorious mess.  All empires were in their own way. It's what makes them fascinating.

Indeed they are. The one characteristic that I like about empires is they all eventually die in one way or another.

I'm going to gush for a bit about Calpernia here.

 

TBH I thought DA:I's supporting NPCs compared to the two previous games.  The companions and major NPCs were great, don't get me wrong.  But I just don't remember the more minor NPCs in DA:I like I remember Hubert the ******* merchant, or Jethann, or Wade and Herren.  The NPCs in DA:I are more thinly drawn, even relatively important characters like Celene.

 

Except Calpernia.  I'm having such a hard time playing through Samson's story because I just can't help but compare it to hers.  She's one of those delightful characters who starts out full of contradictions that pique my interest.  A Venatori who frees slaves, yet she willingly serves Corypheus.  And all those contradictions start making sense as little pieces of her character come through over the course of her quest.  By the time I actually met her at the Well of Sorrows, I remember thinking, "Please, game, don't make me kill this amazing woman."  And then I had the opportunity to talk to her and let her go, and I was so happy.  She's just the best.  Even Patrick Weekes talked about her a little in his podcast interview, how the writing team fell in love with her.  It really shows.

Ugh...I can't wait.  Out of likes.  Also, it's crime against humanity that Wade and Herren were not back for this game.

Ah, that explains it. I don't go to Bethesda's forums.

I can't stand media that portrays Rome as pure evil imperialism made flesh anymore than I can ones that make them out to be paragons of fairness and justice.

Everything is more complicated than that. I don't think it's greedy to ask for a basic level of humanity for humans in media. Or to avoid cartoonish misrepresentation of actual people and events. (Unless you're Asterix. Asterix has that covered for everyone in the good way.)

...Yes, I did watch 300: Rise of an Empire recently.

I threw popcorn at the screen and yelled a lot whenever the Spartans were portrayed as the defenders of democracy and freedom and the Iranians as harbingers of a slave empire and intolerance. More of a problem in the first movie that I noticed, mostly because in the sequel I kept rolling my eyes and brushing up the actual Darius.

I think we have a similar disgust at empires, but mine's the 'fascinated and horrified by the car wreck' type.  All empires are much the same when you get down to it.

I'm probably imprinting myself onto her more than I should but she's definitely carrying enough baggage for it, which getting kicked out of your home will do, and she doesn't seem to have a healthy level of self-esteem as shown by her lack of confidence in her ability as a mage. Who knows, we only get a few minutes of dialogue out of this character, probably not a good place to do armchair psychology.

 

Honestly my saving grace for Cassandra will always be the idea that she found this sad mage somewhere and, seemingly out of character, said "hey, you want a job?".
