You may disregard the lyrics and only see the title (but it's too good a song to only state the title as an answer).
Spoiler
Maybe he is simply a coward but in that case he's just not worth my previous appreciation of his character.
I can agree with that title.
My opinion of Solas will only change if he pulls and Anders to fufill his quest. Hopefully not...

So here is the answer to the solas hair thing

The truth hath been revealed

That's....a really big knife to shave your head with.
So here is the answer to the solas hair thing
The truth hath been revealed
Lmao, I thought the IQ was Fenris for a moment there.
I'd really like it if Solas did shave his head actually. So much potential fluff if he lets Lavellan shave it sometimes. Him sitting on the floor, head on her lap, her fingers trailing through his scalp and the occasional scrape of the knife lulling them to peace along with the comfortable silence...
I just really like moments where time seems to stand still around this couple, ok?!
I've been back to compare the two. The one with male Lavellan replaces the romance (vallaslin) one with female Lavellan. I actually didn't see why I should get the prompt which leads into me saying "it sounds like you're leaving", because he was merely talking about he hoped we would be able to recover the orb. Clearly my character in game is more perceptive than I am. With romanced Lavellan you get the opportunity to go back and ask him again "About us". He tells her she should concentrate on the matter in hand and not emotional entanglements but then when pressed by her definitely says "Afterwards all will be revealed." Naturally she thinks she will get an explanation, not that he will simply go off with the briefest of goodbyes. May be if the orb had not been destroyed, he might have explained, but I doubt it since the last thing he would want is for someone else to try and claim it. The fact is that "all is revealed" to us looking on into the action but never to her.
Because she let Solas do most of the talking with Abelas, I don't believe she ever got the "not of my people" speech directed at her, otherwise it might have given her pause for thought. With my male Lavellan it is striking that Abelas refers to him as "not of my people" and "Shem" (which I do not believe is a mistake by the writers but intentional by the character), yet he says to Solas during the discussion about what Abelas should do next "Elvhanen such as you.". Of course everyone is concentrating on the well at the time but it is pretty obvious that Abelas does recognise Solas as one of his people. He could explain away knowing the language so well by his travels in the Fade but not that sort of recognition, which is why the conversation about leaving comes straight after we get back to Skyhold: he knows sooner or later people are going to look more closely at what was said at the temple and awkward questions will follow.
It is all very well the writer saying that he was intending to tell her the truth; we don't know that in game, she doesn't know that. All we have is him skirting the truth time and again, then outright deception in their last ever speech together before they leave for the final battle.
When I first met Solas I thought he was going to prove my ideal romance but sadly that was not the case and the more I think about it, the further he falls in my estimation. Sorry, Solas fans, but Dorian has supplanted him in my affections.
Yeah, I understand that Lavellan is supposed to be "angry" at him but I don't think mine was. Mine was more shocked, but she isn't one that likes to bother others if they don't want to talk about something. And she could see even during the break up scene how much he cared for her and she believed/still believes this. She was just giving him the space and time he needed and she would be there, waiting hopefully for him to come back to her or at least explain ![]()
So when the orb breakes, that's when he's supposed to explain.. and instead she's like /don't care much.
Even when she is talking to others and she knows that he's behind, and then she turns (not even fully, she just half turns!) and sees he's gone, she's just "Ok let's go home".
What? Not even a "where is Solas?" or a surprised look on her face? It's like she already knew that he was leaving? Which makes sense a bit maybe with a non romanced Solas..since you can ask him if he plans to leave.. but you can't with Lavellan..
So the scene should have been a bit more different for me.. It's like she doesn't care.
And the whole "he doesn't care so why should I care?" doesn't work for me... ![]()
Also, Solas was in the fight too, so I'm not sure why all the attention would have gone to Lavellan. They were both in danger. So if he doesn't worry about how she is, neither does she...
Cass is the only one worrying it seems XD Good girl! Forever best female friend!
Just my opinion tho xD maybe your Lavellans are stronger and less Solas-dipendant xD
And.. I also think Solas would have taken the Anchor if he could. Cory was just late to the party imho, Solas already knew it was permanently attached to her xD
No, I am definitely talking about the conversation with him in Skyhold before we head out to meet Corypheus for the final time. That is why it came as such a surprise to me because I was pretty certain it came out totally different with my romanced Lavellan. I'll have to go back and check it out again.
I have to admit that my admiration for Solas has taken something of a nosedive as a result of this latest play through because I have started to feel that he treated her really badly. However, you can see why he wouldn't hint that he was leaving to a romanced Lavellan because right there and then she would demand answers, whereas my male Lavellan is content to say, whatever, so long as Solas sticks around until after they defeat the bad guy, which Solas assures him he will.
I got the feeling that he wasn't planning on leaving if he romanced Lavellan. He assumed he'd get his orb back and could explain everything then. The orb being destroyed changed his plans.
I must say Solas is a stone cold actor, I would NOT want to play Poker with the man. Was listening to Morrigan describe the situation of Fen'Harel trapping the elven deities in the 'beyond' and my eyes shifted over to Solas because...you know...spoilers. And the man did not even blink! or make a passing comment. He just ignored it. Mega props chuckles, mega props.

If you saw what we said about Solas and his poker skills, you might not be so afraid to play him after all. Think of his orb as the pot. He offers it, Corypheus builds the pot, Solas plays a good poker face, but unfortunately my hand is better than his, and I take the whole thing.
Now Solas has nothing and has to go crawling back to mama Mythal for more money to buy chips, and this time he promises he'll get them out of dept and turn it all around for sure.
Wait, what? Everyone hates Solas now?
They hate him because they love him. Or something like that.

The only skill in poker is keeping a blank face. Everything else is pure luck.
I was playing last night and the conversation between Varric and Solas about everyone in "Hard in Hightown" basically deceiving everyone else triggered. I hadn't listened closely to it before because previously it has always triggered just as I was going into a fight.
Anyway, Solas asks Varric if that is common in dwarven literature, and Varric replies that it is common in human literature not dwarven because dwarves read things that show the world the way they think it should be, humans read to understand the way things are. Solas sound almost sad or wistful in that conversation. It makes me wonder if he truly wasn't a trickster god until it was forced upon him for reasons he saw as necessary or if he regrets being cast in the role of trickster and deceiver.
Just a bit of food for thought.

This is where our point of contention lies. I'm trying to look at it from Solas's point of view, to try and understand why he does what he does, but you're focused on Lavellan's point of view, which can only be hurt and confused because it's only Solas who knows all the answers, and he doesn't say anything. Dorian's definitely the healthier romance, no arguments there. I'm just saying, from Solas's point of view, he actually does the right thing by breaking it off with her when he realizes he can't tell her the truth nor give up his quest without betraying himself. Ending the relationship when he realizes it can only go on either by risking his masterplan or deciding to deceive her forever was actually the honorable thing to do. And yes, Lavellan doesn't get it, it's still a very douchy move when he could have just trusted her, but his reasons are still valid for doing so. He's been betrayed before after all, and he's very dedicated to his mission. He isn't a saint, but he isn't the devil either.

Interesting food. I just wonder, I mean we see again because of What Pride Had Wrought...and most things with the Dalish throughout all DA media...how badly they have gotten their own history wrong. Its easy to see that Fen'Harel is only seen as a trickster because he 'betrayed' the gods and all the other stories after the fact were added in to fit that narrative. However, again we see with Dragon Age time and again...especially with Spirits...which I think it is now clear what the elven gods were..that they have a dual nature. So, it is easy to see this in Fen'Harel's case to, one part Trickster, one part...something else? As a side food for thought does this mean that Fenny is a Desire demon?

I'm not sure. It's rather like he goes all in (with his orb) in round 1 even before the flop, his hand being a 4 and a Queen. You can do that, sure, but it might not be the best strategy at all times.
