I'm guessing the Architect is throwing a sweet party and only the coolest folks got invited.
We're not invited.
I LET HIM LIVE! Oh wait, that was my Warden..not me, makes sense now, carry on...

The HoF got invited.
I guess you have to be a Thedas A-Lister and the Inquisitor just didn't cut it.
Do they ever end? or you can just repeat them forever?
I never found out, got bored of doing them at some point..
They are meant as a way to infinitely gather XP, influence and power, needed to get new peaks, level up, or simply do missions (though you don't really need them for the latter). So, no, they never end but we should be thankful the devs gave us this option at least.
I don't actually think things are being uncivil, hehe. For the record, it is an interesting thing to discuss.
That or I am used to a lot worse forum spats.
I don't think it's uncivil here either and I'm very optimistic lol. I don't see any name calling or anything bad.
I think most people here are just telling how they feel on the break up and let's be real here Solas has a few flaws we all Love him though. Like I said before I think we will get a chance for our Lavellan to be with Solas again, I don't think it's over with. ![]()

I'm mostly disagreeing with 'idiot' and 'douche.' Saying he should have planned for an unexpected emotional response/change in plans is a little unfair to him, I think.
It's not like he was on the clock or anything.
Maybe we'll just make our own party! In the east.
With blackjack and hookers.
Quizzy has 30 bottles of liquor just sitting there, down in the cellar. After saving the world, I think a bit of unwinding time would be pleasant for everybody.
You can love a character while still accepting and appreciating the fact that they are flawed.
Some people want to have uncomplicated romances in their games. The book opens, the book closes. That's fine! I don't think anyone should feel like they need to explain why they might not like the romance. But on the other hand, there are plenty of people who like the long term appeal of a romance with a strong narrative.
I don't think it is really a matter of whether Solas was right or not, in regards to the relationship. From a purely pragmatic perspective, he probably shouldn't have gotten involved at all. But life isn't made of pragmatic choices. I can't fault someone for wanting to connect, particularly when that someone is a jaded immortal guy who probably needs to have a bit of grounding in the here and now.
Both Lavellan and Solas are adults. While it might be unfair, he isn't obligated to give a justification for breaking up with her. Same as the Inquisitor isn't asked to explain herself if she breaks up with any of them. I suppose I just can't really get on board with him being directly cruel. It isn't like they were planning on getting married and had five kids.
The issue only occurs if Solas later wants to renew the relationship. That is when failing to disclose information becomes a cruelty.
Thank you for this, especially this part.
It really bothers me when people say it was bad that he didn't give her a decision regarding the relationship. If I end a relationship, it's over. The other person doesn't have any darn say in it, even if we had a kid together. There is no "decision" Lavellan should have had in that choice, I'm sorry. I don't care if he didn't really want to leave her, he chose to end the relationship and as far as I'm concerned, that's his prerogative. I may not like it, but them's the breaks. Nobody likes being broken up with. I think people tend to not think when they say this because Solas is the more "powerful" one in the relationship but I'm certain if it had been the other way around and Solas demanded he was owed a "decision" in the matter, people would have lost their ever loving minds and called him horrible.
I don't know, I personally just.....didn't see the break up as that bad? They weren't together that long and Solas was so guarded throughout all of it anyways. I think it's safe to say that he felt stronger about my Lavellan than my Lavellan did about him because....well, how could it not be that way? He keeps so much of himself behind walls and my Lavellan accepted that in the hopes that he'd bring them down for her one day because she really did love what she did get to see. It was hard for me to get super emotional about it or righteously furious on behalf of my Lavellan, to be honest. But then again, for me Solas the character >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Solas' romance. He's much more of interest to me than my Lavellan and her involvement with him.
However, I see why people might think it was a "douche" move. Kind of. Cowardly, sure, but a coward is hardly the worst thing somebody can be. Everyone's kind of a coward in at least one way or another and he certainly had huge reason to be afraid.
It's not like he was on the clock or anything.
So he should have continued their relationship while he came up with the right way to break up with her rather than at the moment he knew he couldn't continue it? I don't actually think that's better. It's also possible he wouldn't be able to bring himself to do it if he let things go on. Actually, I'm pretty sure that's what the writer said about it.
I agree more or less for normal relationships, but in most cases unless your SO were abusive or something, just deciding you no longer want to be with your wife or husband when you have a kid seems irresponsible and unfair to the child to me. You don't just quit family, and that's what your SO is when you marry them. That's just my opinion on that, which is unrelated. So my bad for that.
Anyway, as for Solas, it's not about the break up if you ask me, it's how it was done.
Maybe we'll just make our own party! In the east.

someone say party?
It's because we wear plaidweave, isn't it.
Ugh I hate that stuff. It looks good on my female inquisitors but on Dorian or Solas or my male inquisitors...I'm surprised they don't go and jump off a cliff when I put an outfit with that stuff on lol!
Is it just me or do medium armor and heavy armor show up more than light armor cause that's the way it is in my pt's. ![]()
My Rogue quizzy's have pretty high armor on level 10 than my companions that are mages. ![]()
I know there are schematics out there that I can buy but the highest ones are in places that I can't go to yet.

No, but "oh hey, dalish are dumb for wearing those, take it off? Ok, you're beautiful and stuff, bye," surely isn't the most optimal way of doing things either, no matter how one wants to defend it XD breakups are bad in general, but damn.
Thank you for this, especially this part.

Break ups are bad in general, yes.
There wasn't a good option once the relationship was started. I just think it's unfair to say that Solas shouldn't have an emotional response to knowing he needed to end things. He was clearly heartbroken there too. We want to pretend that people will always be selfless but he was probably just as concerned with the fact that he was crushing his own heart into dust at the same time.

I disagree. What would be unfair is abandoning your kid in the process. Nobody has any obligation to stay with their SO, and I think that's kind of a scary mindset, but I DO believe there is an obligation to whatever children you bring into the world. You can take care of your kid without being married to someone.
But that doesn't apply to Solas and Lavellan. And gosh am I happy about that, I was never an enormous fan of the idea of kid plotlines. Sure I think about it for some of my DA couples down the road but I wouldn't pick that choice in game. I love Morrigan, but I never romanced her. ![]()
<snip>
The absolute hysterical thing about all of this is that I agree 100%. I don't villify, hate, want to kill, weep over the break up with Solas. I pity him. PW succeeded in making his character sadder because of it. Oh man...word usage. I regret it. That'll learn me to post before coffee. Have a nice day everyone, I'm going to the museum.
