Thank you, I really appreciate that. The same is true in opposite, in that I misjudged a lot of you while just lurking. You're a fun bunch and you all made me appreciate Solas' character more than I did originally. And elves as well. Especially elves.

I always facepalm at the Tower of Bone camp in Empris du Lion.  We hear over and over how dangerous red lyrium is and how just being near it is REALLY BAD ... so then we come across that tower that's filled with red lyrium and surrounded by red lyrium and what do we do?  Make a camp right there!  Like, wut?  Really?

 

I'm also wondering if regular (blue) lyrium itself grows in a similar way.  Just say, not as fast as red lyrium.  But otherwise it's a finite resource that will run out eventually.  Or honestly it probably should have run out already after the how many centuries if not thousands of years the dwarves have been mining it?

I'm wondering if Corypheus wasn't sort of plant food for red lyrium, encouraging it to grow with his command over the taint.  With him out of the picture, I'm hoping it won't grow as fast and a way to destroy it found.  Alternatively, the Warden is off looking for a cure to for the taint (tee hee) so maybe that will play into it as well.

 

Did the game ever say whether Gray Wardens were resistant to red lyrium?  We know Seekers are and Cory might not have used Grey Wardens as lyrium flower pots because he needed their bods in case he got kicked out of the one he was in but I don't recall seeing a spiky, red GW like I did so many Templars, alive and dead.

 

I presume all lyrium grows, albeit slowly.  Otherwise it's like coal IRL and that means a limited supply which means eventually the Chantry runs out and all Templars are toast.

Just came back from a call with my bro and the gf who are playing DAI too. I tried to give them some tips (without spoilers) when they started, so that they would experience the best you can in a first playthrough.. Like, who to bring on which mission, where to not go before having done something else... etc. Of course I tried to persuade them to take Solas with them almost always just telling them he has nice barriers and he knows many things so it's important to have him around.

Well my plan doesn't seem to have worked very well.. They just finished Mythal's temple and apparently they think he's annoying and he disapproves everything they do and they call him "baldy" and "knows-it-all". And they made him an outfit named The Hobo's rugs.

What have I done to deserve such a family? XD I hope they change their mind after the epilogue XD

Most of Emprise is a disaster, but at least the Inquisition camps are there in part because they're trying to stop the red lyrium spread.  What really freaked me out was Cullen saying that the red lyrium in Kirkwall was impossible to clean, they could only quarantine it, but that'll only work so long. 

 

The Blight is probably what's causing the lyrium to grow so much, if it naturally does that at all.  Like a virus, I guess, the Blight spreads itself as much as it can.  And that's what it comes down to I think, finding an answer for the Blight.  Maybe the HoF will find something...

 

Yeah and if you run through Suledin Keep after you take it you can hear a Tranquil say that it will be virtually impossible to stop the spread of red lyrium because it infects living things and there are things living in the ground like insects and such.  That was the point where I want, oh crap this is going to be really bad.

 

So yeah, it'll come down to having to find a cure for the Blight I think.

Hmm.  He disapproved of everything they did?  I mean, generally he approves if you try to help people out or if you ask for more information and such.  On my first playthrough (as a human) I didn't go out of my way to make him happy or anything and he ended up liking my IQ a lot.  But then I kind of played her as a goody two shoes who helped people, thought the mages should be free and was relatively open minded about stuff.

 

So if they're playing power hungry IQs who like to use people's faith to manipulate them, are generally down on mages/magic and such then yeah I guess he wouldn't like them much.

Lavellan studying magic/strategems/politics/history after taking one of the inquisition perks (arcane knowledge and such), Solas don't know much about the subjects (unless it's arcane knowledge where he knows more) and asks to study with her. Cute shoulder-to-shoulder reading.

Yeah, that tranquil really sells the doom and gloom.  And when one of them suggests burning it, and the tranquil says something about not knowing if the ash would be safe...  Gah, sounds like trying to clean a nuclear disaster site.

While not disgustingly sweet, I'd like for Solas to get jealous. Either in a slightly more sophisticated way by prissily asking why she chose THAT god for her vallaslin of all people or a bit more low-brow by wondering out loud whether he's the only one who noticed the receeding hairline on Cullen. (Both of which would also be delightfully hypocritical.)

 

But if it has to be sweet, it would be something like Solas (either in game or after he left) using his talents to change a nightmare into a deep and comforting slumber.
