Cullen's thread, however, is much bigger and has been around much longer- and has certainly had it's fair share of volatile personalities (I definitely was one of them, heh) and so has had a longer time to breed drama- that with the stigma that Cullen is nothing but fanservice anyway. Which, who cares.
Every romance is fanservice to some extent. The word gets tossed around so often it may as well be meaningless. In my experience, it's only fanservice when a character someone doesn't like gets content

Besides I don't want my employees to make stupid mistakes due to limited visibility. That's about as bad as not upgrading their equipment. I might just as well send them out armed with a towel and a hair brush, saying "Get rid of that pride demon over there; try not to get killed, good luck" .
I definitely don't make my companions wear the same equipment throughout the game. Cole's squishy enough as he is, and you can pick up different much better versions of his bizarre hat as you explore. I just, never sell the original stuff unless I have no choice

I was not really crushed about the ending of the romance or the reveal of him being The Dread Wolf. Honestly, it made me extremely interested in the lore. Which was something I had not been before. The dialog and the story arc was just fantastic. I am oddly okay with him walking out of my Lavellan's life. I believe he will be showing up in later games or DLC, but I think it may involve the grey wardens.
On a side note,
I finally got around to listening to Nerdappropriates podcast with Patrick Weeks. I never noticed the similarities between Mordin and Solas, until Patrick pointed them out. Mordin did terrible things for the great good.....ect. ect.

I changed Cole's hat for his other hat and solved his squishiness with Fade-Touched Obsidian, some things are just too central to a character for me to get rid of.

My biggest problem with "stuff" in DAI isn't storage issues. I hate that the accessories are specific to talents.
The usual complaints about how there's too much romance talk and off topic chatter in the character threads.
To be fair, I don't really like the smut stuff (just not my thing) but this thread tends to stay pretty on-topic with the whole 'Solas discussion' part. And the ancient elf/elven lore talk is all part of that.
It's only natural to go off topic sometimes. That's just how conversation flows. But we always end up going back to Solas, and that's what matters.
And as to the romance... I don't know. We do talk about it an awful lot, but same goes for lore, which is arguably even more off topic in some cases.

Yeah... weird, I usually like beards but in his case that didn't work. Now seen like that... I could do that. I mean... never mind. So all that's left is the annoying romance around him.

He's not. He doesn't really care about his clothes. I'm just assuming the original Cole wore a similar hat though, and that's why I'm keeping it. And the design did grow on me.

I feel you plight. I definitely have thing for men with facial hair. My husband has a very nice well kept beard and I was devastated when he shaved it off. He grew it back quickly.
