Full Disclosure: I totally fell for his "...THE FADE!" excuse. Was not suspicious at all. Looking back, I feel pretty dumb. Not only does he wear a wolf jawbone, I'm fairly sure the fur on his battlemage mail is a wolf pelt. 

I definitely did too!  It worked as an excuse though!  I'm sure he saw some of it in the fade.  You just don't know which ones were excuses.   I started wising up by ToM - not to the dread wolf thing - but that he was an ancient elf.  Blackwall came out of LEFT FIELD for me. I feel so dumb about that one.  His fake-idenity beard.  His failing at understanding ANYTHING about Wardens.

I adore that comic, haha! Actually, I think there was a Solas version somewhere? Cannot for the life of me remember which artist did it now.

Same here, don't feel bad. My second playthrough I felt so silly, because the game is basically whacking us in the face with a sign that says "Something is up!" and I was just like "Oh, Mr Solas~" the first time. Same with Blackwall really. Neither of them made me suspicious until it was too late. 

LOL I actually WAS suspicious of Blackwall. I kept him with me when I went to look for Stroud in Crestwood, and I found his lack of warden knowledge and claim that he was in Ferelden when the codex had him supposedly in Orlais super shady.

You know, I think it's time the other romances have a little bittersweet/heartwrenching sadness :3  So maybe the DLC will give the Solavellan shippers some happiness while giving the others some sad so we can get a break!

Haha. here's the DLC for you kiddos.   Cullen dies of lyrium withdrawal, cass gets eaten by a dragon, IB is assasinated by Qunari spies, Dorian falls prey to a demon, Sera is killed in an uprising, blackwall dies in the joining after finally deciding to be a real warden.

 

solas and lavellan - magical reunion with smoochy kissie faces and nothing bad happens to them ever again and optional hot sex scene for those who want it.

 

EDIT: This is actually the worst thing ever and Dorian and Cass especially can never die.

His non-disappearance when the other warden's ears were all bleeding... but he, too, of course, was doing penance in his way.

We're too trusting of our companions, haha. I'd like to think I was just starstruck with seeing Loghain again during the Warden bits, but honestly I wasn't paying sharp enough attention it seems. Thedas is apparently lucky that my Inquisitor is lucky.

The biggest clue about Blackwall is the copy of his speech (the real Blackwall's speech, I mean) in Leliana's room which states he was in Orlais during the Blight.  So much for 'I was in Ferelden, killing Darkspawn.'

I wish we had more moments like this. Especially when camping out. Not sure why the advisors are there but I think the artist just wanted to include them. I like it though.

Me too, I was completely dumb in my first pt. I thought BW was nice and honorable... that the fact he didn't talk much about the wardens was because he was the silent type of guy who doesn't want to share his pain with others xD
and didn't suspect Solas in the slightest, thought he was a bit weird sometimes but that was all, even when he gave me skyhold, I was just like "oooh shiny castle!!", not at all wondering "wait, how do you know this and Why didn't you say sooner?? "
And when my Trev had the option to say "seems like you are leaving" I thought "what a stupid option! Why would she say that? Makes no sense" and I just thanked him.

Completely oblivious.

I didn't LOVE his character. He was a little to 'hero'-y for me(i'm sure there's a better word for that) but he deserved a second chance.  His intent was good.

 

But about the calling - looking back on how clueless I was it makes me laugh because his response to you when you ask about it is so forced

Lavellan: So you're ok, right Blackwall? It must be bad.

Blackwall: OH YEAH TOTALLY! *NNG - holds up hands to his ears* THE SONG IS SO LOUD IN MY HEAD!

 

Obviously it wasn't THAT forced but it was nothing like the way Alistair/Loghain/Stroud talk about it.
