Flemeth strikes me as the type to employ subterfuge, but that might be a product of her circumstances rather than Mythal's original personality.  Maybe when the other gods turned on her, they were already corrupted by the Blight.  One by one, after Andruil brought it back from the Void (or whatever happened), they all fell victim to its madness.  Fen'Harel wasn't corrupted because he stood apart from the rest of the pantheon, and so he had nothing to do with Mythal's murder.

I definitely think the majority of them would have been already consumed by blight before they turned. I am not so sure they were all that great of people to begin with, but Fen'Harel did what he did to 'save' them, not kill them or trap them in some sort of living hell. I think he must have thought that a cure could be found at some point. Or some way to sever their minds from whatever was controlling them.

But, I do think Flemeth is the shadier personality. Mythal was the mother, the protector. I don't think she was naive, but that seems more like an 'upfront' sort of person. Betrayal can change a person.

Solas's scrunchy angryface is so cute!

It is!  I have a collection going of Solas "reaction faces". Contrary to popular belief, he's quite expressive.  Mostly ranging from pleasantly happy to scrunchily angry.

The Dramatic Reunion -

Solas: YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! I DESTROYED THIS WORLD. I RUINED IT. YOU HAVE NO CONCEPT OF WHAT IT HAS LOST! *scrunchy angry face*

Lavellan: OMG you're TOOOOOO cute *smooches*

Yeeeessss my thoughts incorporate all these. Am currently studying different theories on "consciousness" at the moment so I want to see if I can incorporate them into theories about the song!

If you want to go there you might wish to look into http://en.wikipedia....Sensory_gating (because that is my working theory regarding consciousness/perception of the Song, possibly even access to the Fade... or maybe "working theory" would go to far but at least nothing contradicts it).

Independent of anything Flemeth has done, we know that Mythal soothed Elgar'nan's rage.  We know she pacified Andruil in her madness and stole the knowledge of how to find the Void from her, restoring peace.  We also know from the Temple that elves petitioned her on matters of justice.  Justice is part of her portfolio as a god, separate from vengeance which belongs to Elgar'nan.  I don't think she was exactly nice and cuddly; after all, she did strike down anyone who came to her in bad faith.  But she strikes me as the "good cop" to Elgar'nan's "bad cop."

This is starting to remind me of the whole Justice/Vengeance mess with Anders.  I can't imagine that being betrayed, dying, and possessing Flemeth did wonders for her personality

Still, the duality theme is all over DA. I think that Mythal was a Lady of the Forest type of goddess, a motherly figure to her subjects AND a protector who could be ruthless if needed to protect them. This said, with one of her spheres being Justice, one could easily see how it could turn into Vengeance after her betrayal. The line separating both is so subtle, one could easily miss crossing it.

Popular belief is that he's not expressive? He has one of the most mobile faces in the game! It's wonderful. And also possibly the reason I fell for him so quickly.

I mean, just look at this sh*t.

Just...wow. They finally got smiling right! Before, Bioware characters trying to smile usually looked kinda...off. This, though? Perfection.

Are you trying to outdo Sable's ability to turn us all to sobbing, heartbroken unicorns?

I would never! I couldn't reach Sable's level anyway. :P

Wait... you did not find Anders smiling like an imbecile compelling?

*cries* okay, my heart is starting to demand wolf hunt DLC again because I, in my Psychology-Degree-feel-the-need-to-make-everything-right-for-the-people-I-care-about type way have begun to stress because I can't "fix everything" for Solas right this very second. And my stress typically leads to an anxiety attack. I can already feel my heart pounding. So I'm going to go and actually mow my lawn and maybe come back when I don't feel so dire.

Let me relieve your anxiety.

Giton's predictions for DLC:

First, Solas is like:

Then you summon your dragon to take care of business:

Andruil is also a likely suspect.  She "made weapons of darkness, and plague ate at her lands.  She howled things meant to be forgotten, and the other gods became fearful Andruil would hunt them in turn."  Maybe the Blight is something that always existed in the Void, or was inherent to the Void.  Andruil just brought it back, into Thedas.  Maybe it wasn't exactly intentional on Andruil's part, but that was the stone that started the avalanche.

Mythal also fought her after she went all nuts and stole her knowledge of how to find the Void.  Maybe her murder came at Andruil's hands for what she'd done.  Point being, Mythal stole the knowledge of how to find the Void.  She didn't erase it.  Presumably that knowledge is still with Mythal, so who has it now?  Whomever drank from the Well?  Solas?  Morrigan?  Ugh, this is why I leave the lore to you guys.  I tie myself in knots with this stuff.

(Just to be clear, I'm not trying to bag on Andruil.  I don't think she's inherently worse than any of the other gods, but something about her hunting the Forgotten Ones in the Void is very very ominous to me.)

It has been speculated she might have given the information to Dirthamen...who then broke her trust and gave it to Falon'din or another. It would explain why his statue is stabbed in the back in her weird fade dream.

Whatever the case is, I am guessing once the information about the blight/red lyrium came out, even the gods couldn't contain it.

Yes, Andruil sounds like the one who discovered the taint. It seems quite likely that Mythal was murdered over the secret of how to find the Void. The gods never attempted to kill one of their own before supposedly but perhaps things got out of hand finally. Maybe the prospect of having such a powerful weapon provided strong enough an incentive to commit this scandalous crime.

Maybe the thought of killing one of their own seemed silly before. Obviously killing a god is pretty tricky. Maybe they thought it was impossible. But if a corrupted archdemon actually dies when defeated (their soul too I mean), maybe the elven gods realized what a blighted weapon is capable of. So Mythal gets "killed" (=temporarily taken out of the picture) to gain access to the Void and the blight. The person to wield this weapon could then potentially kill all the gods. And become the one and only god, like Corypheus..

Here's a bit of poorly-thought-out tin foil theory: maybe the elven gods were hearing the Calling.  A compulsion from the Blight to return to the Void.  But the knowledge of how to find the Void had been taken from Andruil...and was in Mythal's possession, so they killed her trying to reclaim it.  It might even have been a set-up.  The Forgotten Ones live in the Void, according to Andruil's codex entry.  Maybe they're the ones behind it all, and they let Andruil go after them knowing she would bring Blight back to the elven pantheon and hasten its destruction.

I LOVE it!

Makes a lot of sense to me. The Forgotten Ones have always been the embodiment of everything evil while the elven gods represent everything good. Of course, it's not that simple. The elven gods do not sound like saints at all. Who knows, maybe the Forgotten Ones weren't evil but just got fed up with being painted as such and decided to have their revenge on the haughty elven gods...

But... does that mean the taint spread from Andruil to the other gods? Maybe only she heard the Calling and it was her who murdered Mythal then. Hmmmm.

It's okay! Just read what you wrote before:

That is one thing I do not miss about when I lived in Germany. I find California's weather much more agreeable.

On a completely unrelated note, I've been playing back some of the romance scenes between Solas and Lavellan and watching his expression as he speaks to her (especially his eyebrows, for reasons I will explain in a moment) and I just have to say... The cinematics are incredible. Analyzing his face when he talks to her... Well, I can tell you honestly, he is so into her, guys...

I was just watching the one where she says he's "being grim and fatalistic with hopes of getting her into bed..." And his response... Okay, so let me tell you why eyebrows are important. First of all, when we are planning on lying to someone, there are a certain number of things that we can and do control to make our lies match our expression. Even our eyes... But eyebrows... No one really thinks about them, and they often move on their own and give subtle hints that give you away. When Solas says "Getting you into bed is an enjoyable side benefit" his eyebrows wiggle up and down a few times... Very subtly... In the manner that suggests he has no control over it. Why that is important-- when someone does the subtle eyebrow wiggle, it means they are attracted to you. Which means what? Solas really wants to bang Lavellan. Like, he's not just saying that. Whoever did his animations was on top of their game. That is a detail many would miss and it would not have surprised me if they had left it out, but no. Particularly in the last few scenes before... That part we don't discuss... Solas is positively oozing love for Lavellan out of every fibre of his being. Down to the last detail. Which is why I want to pick up the banner for team optimism, despite my gut feeling that this cannot go well. You cannot love someone that much and then... Just stay away from them forever. I know... Because I've tried.

So team optimism, here is a song from my Lavellan to yours:
-snip song-
I know it's not over. Baby, I've worked it out for sure...

...it's gonna be better...

Like Elven_Glory said, the animations are AMAZING in this game. I just want to hug the person who animated Solas. Just Solas' smile...it's sooooooo beautiful. His eyes often narrow in contentment when he smiles, it's just...excuse me I'm blushing. XD

The saddest people smile the brightest.

I really hope things can work out somehow...even if it's a long-distance thing like Morrigan and her Warden, or Alistair and his Warden. Just...oh god I would name my first child Fen'harel for this to happen.

I don't even want kids, that's how far I'd go. 8[

Thought I'd share this since I'm pretty excited about it and I've mentioned it here before! I'm finally doing my first cast of the Solas wolf necklace today. I'm trying an easy 1 sided mold to see if it looks good, and casting with clear resin + black ink. If it turns out nicely I'll be able to cast the necklace in all colors of the rainbow starting tomorrow. And if it turns out to be utter shite I'll start over and try to make a fancy 2 part mold. You can see my master and the cast in the image below.

Has anyone played Fallen Enchantress? I really loved that game... One of the few strategy games I could get on with. I used to love the Spellforce games too... Though the voice acting was... Naff... To put it kindly.

I haven't played Fallen Enchantress. Is it any good?

I want a TheDude-quisitor.

Coryphyflakes: You will kneel!

Inquisitor: Sure, whatever. (Kneels. Takes a drink from his White Russian.)

Coryphyfish: Well, that was easy.

Dragon: (grumble . . . shakes the ground).

Inquisitor: Hey, careful, man, can't you see there's a beverage here?

Coryphyfishyflakes: Beg that I succeed. For I have seen the throne of the Gods, and it was empty.

Inquisitor: Well, that's just like your opinion, man.
