So... could the Black City be the Void? This place is definitely not like the rest of the Fade; it does appear to be more "physical", while everything else there is shaped by spirits. It is the only constant, "real" thing in a land of dreams. The magisters had to enter the Fade physically to reach it; when Quizzy uses the Anchor to get into the Fade, they end up close to the City. Apparently you can only enter it in flesh, not in spirit. If the Void is indeed the source of the Taint, and the magisters got tainted in the City, them being one and the same is a possibility.

 

Then there's the fact that no one has entered the City before or after the magisters... or the Chant of Light says so. Andruil used to hunt in the Void until she went crazy, and then the knowledge of how to reach it was erased from her mind. We don't know of anyone else going there, but it apparently is the place where the Forgotten Ones dwell... and since Fen'Harel talked to them, this'd mean he knows the way too. Wonder how he managed to avoid going crazy from being there, as Andruil did.

 

...also, "the Maker" sounds awfully like "Corypheus" or "the Architect". Not to imply anything, but still

You're not missing the banter between Solas and Blackwall about elven beardlessness because of the banter bug. It was pulled out of the banter array and made to not trigger because it actually contradicts Word of Gaider (i.e. canon).

 

So, what happened was I wrote a bunch of banter while tired and obviously confused about the state of elven facial hair. The banter I wrote got voiced, and then one day, just to be sure, I checked with David Gaider about elven beards. The conversation went kind of like this:

 

"Hey, can elves grow beards?"

"No."

"Er, really? I wrote a banter referencing elf beards."

"You should probably delete it."

"I will."

 

So I went off and tried to make sure that this mistake of mine would never see the light of day. Of course, people dug around in the files and found the soundclips.

 

I would urge you to interpret that banter as Solas trolling Blackwall.

That's interesting...hm.....

 

I like the idea- I mean I've always considered the black city to not actually be -in- the fade, but for it to be the void itself, and for it to be where the answer to the blight is...

 

I love it, actually.

 

Must think about it..and you know, someone MUST inhabit the black city, someone does...so whoever that is? That's who is pulling some weird ass strings.

There is a gentleman on Tumblr who is dissecting the elven language, but I can't for the life of me remember his url. Anyone know who he is? I believe he RPs on his blog as well - his muse is Bigby Wolf (if that helps narrow things down).

I really hope things can work out somehow...even if it's a long-distance thing like Morrigan and her Warden, or Alistair and his Warden. Just...oh god I would name my first child Fen'harel for this to happen.

 
If that kid winds up giving his toy ball to an evil maniac, I'm going to say "I told you so."

Blackness and corruption.  Andruil's legend says that the Forgotten Ones dwelled in the Void.  So if the Black City is the Void, where did the Forgotten Ones go in between Andruil hunting them, and Corypheus entering the Black City?  The standard Dalish legend says that Fen'Harel sealed away the Forgotten Ones in the abyss...which is probably the Void, though IMO it seems a bit silly to seal them where they already lived.  Maybe Corypheus just didn't see the Forgotten Ones because he was too busy getting his ass blighted.  Or maybe the Black City has multiple dimensions, and the Forgotten Ones are sealed somewhere else within it.

 

Hell, at this rate I could almost believe Fen'Harel stuffed them all in some really large, dark cupboard somewhere.  A cupboard full of angry, blighted gods.
 

I would never! I couldn't reach Sable's level anyway.

Noooo, don't say that. I was thinking of pushing forward through the Arbor Wilds tonight. 

Maybe not.

Maybe I'll just keep standing in this hut in the Hinterlands, trying to get Dorian and IB to talk to each other.

Although it seems the game has decided it doesn't want me to experience that either.

 

 

I also realised today that Cole's VA is the lead in the awfully twee show that I endlessly mocked my mother for watching. Oh my gawd. I can't unsee it now.

Karma has bitchslapped me so hard in the face.

DAMN IT, COLE.

 

Pity it wasn't the other ITV drama that was on around the same time instead. That one as filmed in my crappy little town. I could have lurked, awkwardly. Like I do.

Well... the only logical conclusion I can think of is Creators=Old Gods. But I don't want to dicard all those beautiful tin-hat theories you, guys, made. Plus, these statues just don't match elven iconography. Then, again, from TLC we know, that some elves used to worship Forgotten Ones, and some still do. Sooo... Forgotten Ones=Old Gods?
