WHAT'S WITH THE CAPS?

Okay. But that's happened in several southern states not just Alabama. Also most people here in the south don't do that any more....ew. That's like 60 to 100 years ago.

Wow. I really don't see anything funny about it or the need of it to be brought up especially when my State is the main of the joke if this is a joke...but ya'll go ahead and laugh if you want.

The caps emphasizes my enthusiastic tone like a child no longer having the patience to hold her hand and instead shout the answer. It was generally a joke of the south.

Poking fun of states isn't terrible. I'm from kentucky so we're known for impoverished coal miners and kfc. Locals still like to joke how backwards we are known for at least to neighboring states. Even joke about incestuous marriage when first cousin marriages have been banned but we remember our history.

My state and region gets made fun of for coffee-addiction and hipsters.   We, um, can't claim that that's a thing of the past.  ^_^

But I think the joke is one of those reflex jokes. Like making fun of the Scots for frugality and clan violence, or the Irish/Russians for alcoholism.

EDIT: If I was one of those eugenicist mad scientist types back in the day, I'd have started a dating program to get a bunch of Irish, Russians, and Moldavians to mingle their children together and create the ultimate alcohol resistant human being. All for the benefit of my small chain of bars, of course.

You guys can joke about Indiana if you want instead. I don't mind. I'm sure there's a corn joke just dying to be made.

I'm gonna call him Cornelius now.

How scary is Gary, Indiana?

She's right and Kentucky is way worse than Alabama.

Florida, where I'm from, is worse than them all.

Did you know where I went to high school ranks #58 out of #66 in the state? But #1 in teen pregnancy.

I'm surprised I made it out alive, actually, without getting knocked up in an orange grove.

Solas better watch out...Malia Lavellan got the muscles to handle his bullshit, lol! I also attempted to make a male elf...it did not go extremely well, but he isn't horrible.

If we are talking about our homelands and their reputations, this is the most Canadian thing to ever happen. Ever.

Oh my god that IS the most Canadian thing to ever happen In the history of Canada.

Oh Canada.

(Did you see what I did there?)

Offside: I worked at a hotel and we had this group of businessmen from Canada and they used to sneak me whole things of timbits they would buy right before they got on the plane and give them to me at check in.

Blessed Canadians. My favorites.

I think I'd take Coffee-addiction and Hipsters over what where I live is made fun of.

Thanks to these guys, everyone always sings this bloody song at me when I tell them where I am from.

Now...California? That's my favorite place on earth. Third favorite place on earth. Disneyland is my favorite place on earth so I guess technically it's tied, and anyway I love love love California but I suppose you could make any number of jokes about it having the measles or whatever lol.

I think we can all agree that the two best national stereotypes are within Dragon Age itself.

Fereldan: Dog-Lords. Dog-Lords. Dog. Lords. B)

Orlais: Conniving cheese-mongers.

Random question but one I can't really come up with an answer to.

How tall do you think Solas is? I mean, there's no real way to measure but if you had to guess.

We can guess how much he weighs too!   He's not exactly a big guy but he's pretty solid for an elf.

My best guess, thinking of the varying heights of the characters compared with people I know in real life, I'd say 5'10", 5'11" tops. Weighing 160lbs-ish? Maybe a touch less? Cass to me looks like she could be as tall as 5'11" when compared with the human guys, who seem to be 6' and up, and Solas does seem to be close to or equal to her height.

Would this make Lavellan like 5'7"-ish? I'm jealous of everyone's height. Excuse me while all 5'2" of me returns to my hobbit hole.

Um, Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virgina, Florida, Oregon, Eastern Washington, Montana, Idaho, Canada, England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Italy, New York, New Jersey, and Texas were all made fun of in a single day, courtesy of my father.

As for 'Southern' jokes, the most frequent target I've heard people use is West Virgina, then Alabama and Georgia, then Louisiana and the Carolinas. Also Kentucky.

And, strangely, California. The generation of my family before me grew up in California during a bad time, apparently.

But don't worry Roxy. Most people I know make the southern jokes as friendly ribbing. The real derogatory incest jokes are for the town of Granite Falls. They've got it all, incest, drug-running, and poor educational standards. They're this county's favorite punching bag.

I'm 5'4". Guess I'm a dwarf in Thedas then.

So weird. I think there are actually a few people who like Solas on this thread. How is that possible? He's the smarmiest, slimiest, most uncouth and uninteresting clown around. I did not need to reach the end of the game to come to that conclusion!

We have notoriously bad drivers, so there's that. Also, my husband (who is from Georgia) tells me everyone here speaks too quietly.

In my experience, all the southern states are pretty interchangeable in those jokes.

And thanks for the height guesses, guys! They're all so different and I still can't decide haha!
