That's what I always figured about tevinter....good to have it confirmed. I wish a certain writer would pop in here. I have questions.
Don't we all.

So...I find it odd that the fade is constantly shifting except for the Black City. And that distance has no meaning other than being able to see the Black City. That seems....really weird. Discuss?
Edit: It's giving me really inception-y vibes. Like, what if thedas is just one of those pocket dimensions behind eluvians? What if all the eluvians are separate realities with the fade the only constant in between? What if the veil was put up to keep the blight back? @.@
Is there room for one more?
(I'm 5'1" too.)
You guys are making me feel towering at 5'4" ![]()

This is an interesting question. I'm not as well versed in the codices as others, but it's possible that part of the Chant is correct: the Black City might actually be the center of the Fade, the "capital" or "control room" so to speak. Perhaps it was there first and the Fade shaped around it? These things may be possible, Maker or no.

Who blighted the control room? Also, is it possible the fade is...constructed? I always assumed it was a state of nature but then we learned that the veil is a construct.
.
Great thanks, now that I've finally slept and conquered my thesis and publisher meetings with flying colors! But now everywhere is closed and I am hungry... *shakes fist*
How'd it go?????
Also: Denny's. Denny's is always open.
PS. Rabbit and I are streaming some DA art on Picarto if anyone is bored and wants to watch! Link is in my sig.

Yep, I agree.

Going off on this, what if the Crossroads is a way to travel to alternate realities? Like the Wood between the Worlds from the Chronicles of Narnia. With the eluvians in place of the pools of water.
It feels odd that a place that is so influenced by people's dreams and emotions would have something so constant. Maybe all the Dreamers trapped by Solas are strong enough to distort a permanent place in the Fade?
I think that the constant presence of the Black City is evidence that the Maker does indeed exist (or used to, at least) and had jurisdiction over the Fade. So even if the Fade is shaped by people's thoughts, dreams, and feelings, the Black City is always there because it was the seat of the Maker's power.

Female Dalish Inquisitor: What about Solas?
Sera: I seen the way you look at him. You're in it. I bet he calls out, "Elven Glory!" when he does it.
HAHAHA!!
Well I don't blame him my inquisitor is pretty freakin hawt!
I'm 5'0", from a mexican family, so we're all short. I always preferred the elves being tiny. ![]()
Carrieli, your drawing is sooo pretty ![]()

Thank you so much~!
It's my gift to the thread for V-day / pg 3000. It's why I asked what sort of lovey dovey things people would like to see here. XD
Yep, I agree.

That's exactly what it reminded me of. Morrigan says some of the eluvians lead to other worlds, not just different destinations in Thedas. It kinda begs the question of whether some elves are still out there in different worlds, and if they're even native to Thedas at all. The ancient elves in particular have that alien vibe going on.

That's what I thought when Morrigan started talking about the Crossroads being just one of the places in between. So we know eluvians can lead to other eluvians in Thedas, and also the Fade. Why can't it lead... here?

Yep, it looks great! I'm watching the stream right now.
Where'd you get the tiny dancing Solas? I want one. ![]()

What if it's how humans reached Thedas as well? I think I saw something saying they were the youngest race in Thedas, but I'm not sure where.
The DA Wiki does say that humans first appeared in the north as a single tribe, the Neromenians (here). But no one knows where they came from or why they left.
This is probably unlikely, but it's got me thinking.

That reminds me of that old game with Bloody Mary. We could just go into the bathroom, turn off the lights, and say "Morrigan," three times. Or Flemeth, but I think she could do a number on one with that claw arm. ![]()
If we are talking about our homelands and their reputations, this is the most Canadian thing to ever happen. Ever.

And of course he took the baby moose to Tim Hortons. Were there more sensible options?
5'7"!?
I thought elves were supposed to be short...
I'm 5'4". Guess I'm a dwarf in Thedas then.
I know, but it seems like the Dragon Age elves grow with every game! Comparing the heights of DA:O's Mahariel with DA:I's Lavellan is interesting. Though I should say that in this case I'm only supposing Lavellan's height based on how her in-game model appears alongside the others, coupled with what I've guessed for their heights, rather than the specific lore regarding elves in DA. But depending on perspective this also changes a fair bit, so it's ultimately difficult to say.
5'7" is an average human female height. and pretty tall for an elven woman. My husband says female elves are more likely to be around 5'5" or so. (he plays a lot of D&D). She seems pretty average. I figured Cass was somewhere between 5'9" and 5'10" and I could see Solas being about that as well. 4 or so inches taller than Lavellan seems about right.
I'm gonna suggest that individual head-canons determine the ultimate height for our lovely Lavellans, and that the in-game models are simply an average representation, presented via the wonders of magic/limitations of design.
That is, unless Bioware implement body customization within the races at some point, with height caps according to different biological potentials, and then it'll be crystal. Not that I'm particularly bothered about body customization.
Short elves, tall elves. *throws confetti* Elves!

Yeah, there isn't a lot of talk about where humans come from, but in a way, they're one of the most mysterious races in Thedas. Just came out of nowhere.
edit: Whoops, got crazy with the quote buttons.
