Found this on Tumblr.  Voice impressions of Male Dragon Age Love Interests sending Valentine's Messages! Pretty good for the most part! Solas' is a bit too short though. My favorites would have to be Varric, Fenris, Cullen, and Tamlen (they actually added Tamlen, OMG!).

To be honest, I think the ones that looked the best also looked the most "human." =/ Why not cut the middle man and just make the elves look like thin, angular, stylized humans to begin with, instead of goat people that have to be reworked to look more "fawn-like"?

 

They did look a bit more "animal-like" didn't they? When I first played DA2 I was trying to put my finger on what the elves reminded me of and you're right, "fawn-like" is what I'd use to describe their look.

I didn't like the DA2 elf redesign at first, but it grew on me. I like it now because I find it makes them look unique and vaguely alien, which further differentiates them from "short humans with pointed ears". In my opinion, Inquisition strikes a good balance between the DA:O design and the DA2 design.

Totally normal. I want to stomp on Solas' toes for a lot of reasons, but those kinds of characters are always my favorites. The ones that make me mad even while I love them. I find wholly likable characters boring. I need the big flaws to get interested!

Hahaha, I was just going through my Tumblr's "solas" tag looking for something, and I noticed most of my solas posts were also tagged with "*sigh*"

I'm definitely way too much in love with my warrior Lavellan, Lenalas. Never thought I'd end up with a butch hardcore warrior with an affection for heavy make-up as my canon character.   Was anyone else really surprised with how their canon Lavellan turned out in the end?

Part of me wants to use this as my new avatar, because the sass is strong in this one.

I was pretty surprised about mine. I intended on making a very pale, flaxen blonde elf-- a female version of Thranduil, basically, because I thought that would look kickass to go riding around on a Hart... but then I ended up with Lysaris as my canon, and she's got rather tan skin and dark hair... and from profile view, she looks strikingly like Jennifer Lawrence for some reason (I have no idea why, I certainly did not design her to look like JLaw and they don't look at all similar from the front.) I'll have to see if I can post some good screen shots.

Oh, Tamlen.... You know, he was part of the reason I fell in love with the Dragon Age series. He wasn't a romantic interest for my Mahariel, but his whole arc was just hurt. When we meet Tamlen's aspect while searching out Andraste's ashes, and again when he appears in camp, those moments really stuck with me. Seeing that important friend so diminished really amplified my emotional involvement with my character's story. That's a great (painful, but great) feeling.

I LOATH the DA2 elf designs.

 

Besides, no one ever complains about dwarves looking like "short and stout humans," yet people have a problem with elves looking like "short humans with pointed ears?" Why, among all the races that "look like X humans with Y features" are only ELVES supposed to look completely unique and inhuman? Why the tall order for one race and not another? Especially since the DA2 elves looked so bizarre? (Do the people who want DA2 elf designs actually want to play as them, or have them look like fantasy background decoration while they play as humans?)

I really, really love the DA2 elves.  They're closer to how they're described in the books.  Plus, they look like elves.  Cover my pre-mods Surana's ears and my girl looks identical to a human.

 

I use Elf Update in my game which brings the DA2-style elves into DAO (for the player and plot important NPCs) as well as Ferelden Elves (which uses Elf Update to change every elf in DAO and the expansions).

 

Dwarves also have unique features but it seems a lot of players remove them for their PC (check out the 'pretty dwarf' thread.  Some of them are really pretty, but a lot of them are indistinguishable from elves or humans.).

That's just my option though.

After reading about the griffons, discovering that only thirteen survived and reading a lot of theories that griffons might come back for inquisition. I made a little story that is probably very inaccurate or completely out of it, but, I imagine Solas sending a large blanket and leaving it in the inquisitor's room and waking up to strange sounds. I guess I want to see the inquisitor have her/his own uncorrupted griffon that she/he has to protect and keep away from the grey wardens. I drew this baby griffon:

I kinda really like the hat Solas wears at the Winter Palace. It is very much similar to the ottoman helmets, and since I really love older armors...

I was not so very impressed with most of them (Varric was good, though, and with a few others he did get the basic features right) but I pretty much like how he looks so I got something out of it still.

Some of them didn't really fit. Solas's was probably the most jarring. Still, even those were still recognizable as the characters they were meant to portray, and Zevran's, Tamlen's, and Varric's lines might as well as have been delivered by the original VA's. Mostly though, I'm impressed by this dubber's (is that the right word? I don't know what to call him) range.

Wow that was pretty damn impressive! Not only did he get the tones mostly right, the accents are on point!
