Ah~~ Reading this was like sipping a mug of hot chocolate on a rainy day, with a dog curled up beside you.
I don't think I can tease you for painful hellspirals anymore. For now, at least.

Oh great. Now I feel bad for every fantasy game I have ever played. I'm a bad, bad person. I will never be able to get into Dragon's Dogma again.

So I was scrolling down my Twitter feed last night and a Solas fan pointed out that when you do the Sera prank quests and someone asks "Who is up there?" when you are rummaging around in Leliana's stuff...yeah, that is Solas. I can't believe I missed that. I felt a bit like a failure for not noticing it.

Guys.

[ DAI Spoilers ]
So. I was checking my quests and stumbled on that. We can see what seems to be a young man, carrying a staff, about to reach a glowing orb…
Below, the name of our mission, “What pride had wrought”, and since we know that “Solas” means pride…
It could illustrate the moment he obtained the orb… or even Fen’Harel’s power, who knows.

I don't even remember what the hellspiral was, but I know how to run a running gag into the grave. ![]()
Solas is probably very familiar with Sera pranking the tower by that point. ![]()

It starts around 3:26.
It makes sense cause the rookery is connected to the rotunda where Solas is.

It still doesn't sound like Solas to me, but maybe he responds if you don't run.
Huh. Now I'm tempted to play along with Sera until that point just to hear him talk.

I don't even know why I'm so excited, it's not like I've actually learned anything new, but still, still, to have an image of that moment, whether it's Solas taking Fen'Harel's power, or Fen'Harel obtaining his foci for the first time, it's just, it's... I don't know!

I could see it as part of Skyhold's water systems, or as an elven temple in a similar set-up.
However, note the moss on the structure.
This suggests to me that it was a long time after it was built and its custodians lost.
A) Fen'harel awaking in the last few years, getting up to recover the Orb of Destruction and continue his mission.
Solas the village apostate coming across an artifact of the Dread Wolf many years ago, and becoming bound to him.
I'd put my money more on the former.
It's a lovely picture.

From that image, we can conclude that the orb must have been involved in the sealing of the gods, somehow. And since some of that power transferred to the Inquisitor, the Anchor, a key... what if the orb's the only thing that can open that prison.... OR, what if the orb's the only thing keeping that prison locked, and now that it's destroyed, the prison's now falling away, and that's why Solas's on such a tight deadline? Kind of like the way his elven artifacts keep the Veil intact. What he needed from Corypheus was to renew the orb to strengthen that prison, like the way we activate the artifacts to thicken the Veil.

I totally think that is Solas. I never even thought of the opposite. I am quite shocked now (btw, I always run).

I've always wondered if the story of Fen'Harel emprisoning the gods isn't another thing the Dalish got wrong. Maybe Solas was trying to protect them from something/someone and the time to break the barriers is close. He needs to open the portals and he needs his key for it. Maybe the Dread Wolf wasn't walking the Fade hunting for prey but trying to guard his people...his fear of dying alone would make more sense if he didn't exactly chose to imprison his people and having to take care of them would make his break-up with Lavellan more meaningful.
I'm a bit silly. ![]()
edit: It sounds like Solas to me. He's right below our dear Spymaster and he's probably always a bit on edge, trying to be aware of his surroundings...makes sense he'd be more alert than others, no?

I just listened to it again on headphones, and now it does sound like Solas
. On my laptop speakers, it just sounds like some random guard on patrol

I wonder if Solas's plan with the Orb after Coryflora charges it for him is the same as his plan with Flemythal's power post-epilogue.
I think the Orb was involved in the sealing of the Creators as well. If it just required you to open up an Eluvian, the Creators were pros at that. But a foci specifically attuned to a god outside of there...I think the Creators had a lot of reasons for cutting each other off from potential power sources.
