I'll be fine with Caddius's guards suggestion actually, and we just see a few heartbroken Lavellans through the blanket fort tent flap, and Killabee off to the side

 

Please, one of the artists here, please do this. An open tent with a few unrecognizable heads (and a recognizable Caddius), sobbing sounds oozing out, guarded by stern-faced (dwarven?) men with big beards, some "Valentine's day celebrations. Don't disturb." sign next to it. I haven't understood how exactly you wish bring in the Colonel but do so.

So, about this Greg Ellis business: I skimmed through his latest Twitter posts and I am not so sure what happened. He wrote something offensive, took some bashing, deleted the post, and now tries to explain that is was born out of stupidity and ignorance. Does anybody know what he had written?

 

I read things I wish I had not learned. I am no fool, I know it is a job for those people, but I still wish they would keep up the pretense. I do not want to know that the voice actors don't play the games even once, that the writers don't know the voice actors' names, or that they are unmindful enough to just tweet stuff without considering the implications first. That's why I usually keep away from such information. Greg Ellis is not Cullen, Gareth David-Lloyd is not Solas, they are just some guys who needed money and happened to have a good voice. But I still don't want to read about that! I don't even know what my point is. I guess I am just mildly annoyed and ranting.

 

I think I'm not irritated by this because of a post by Gaider. ermmm, I don't know if I should share it with you though, it might just irritate you further.

From what I can work out: he asked why people couldn't call women 'whores' anymore.  This upset people, several of whom called him out.  He then singled out one of the people who had called him out by @ing one of her tweets (if that's how it works?  I'm not on twitter).  His army of fans (who can be quite... intense) now had this woman's twitter name and proceeded to troll her.  Things got worse.  Many people (on tumblr) are now claiming that liking Cullen is problematic, despite Greg Ellis not being Cullen.

 

At least, that's what I was able to find out.

 

tl;dr: an actor makes an insensitive comment and doesn't really understand how social media works and accidently causes his fans to go after someone.

 

Wasn't Ellis the one who also accidentally let something slip during production? Though I don't know what it was, since I was trying to stay as spoiler free as possible

I don't know how accurate my information is.  I got most of it by looking up stuff on tumblr after a bunch of DA blogs I follow started posting things about how they weren't going to be accepting stuff about the Greg Ellis controversy and that just made me curious.

He said that he was doing VA work for DAI.  A fan asked him if he was recording lines for 'companionship and romance' and he answered 'yes'.  (I think he misunderstood what they meant by 'companionship').  He removed the tweet and shortly after that Cass and Cullen got officially announced as LIs by the devs.

I don't know what it was either, because spoilers. I just remember some of the Cullenites teasing him for it.

I think he did. Despite a gag order on all the the actors I think he started talking about DAI before it was confirmed by BioWare that Cullen would be in the game. But don't quote me on that.

Ummm... so, I wrote a thing. I humbly present it to you. It's on google drive right now because I don't really have anywhere else to put it for the moment.

I'm not sure I'm that great of a writer, but... my brain has these thoughts sometimes and they need to go somewhere.

 

Anyway, I thought it made for sort of a nice Valentine's Day type story if you're into that sort of thing.

Greg Ellis does a lot of work.  He's also a person in his own right.  If people can't accept that he isn't a single one of his characters and follow him for who he is then they should stay away from him on social media. 

 

A few years ago I was active on Twitter and I followed Adam Howden (Anders).  He was crude and kind of funny but he was definitely not Anders.  If I'd insisted he should act like him all sorts of bad would have ensued--quite possibly something nasty at the Vatican.  (Though I did call him out once for saying something really sexist and he apologized.  I'd have done that for anyone, though.)

It's a shame that actors, writers, etc. can't just be normal people including laddish behavior without the internet running off on a lynching spree. This has been going on for a couple weeks, though, why is everyone talking about it again? I thought there was something new with the DLC.

Expect he wrote some derogatory comments about Women, It's not expecting him to act like Cullen, it's expecting him not to act like a jerk. 

 

One of the replies he made to people who were getting upset over his comment of asking why he couldn't say derogatory marks on women.
