No. there's a story. you creep on everybody and everybody creeps on you. there's also a chance you pick the most screwed up romance in the whole game and you end up decapitated. stakes have never been higher than in a dating sim.

Dating sims can be interesting when they go into visual novel territory. The majority of them are basically just waifu sims and porn, but you occasionally find a legitimately fun 'choose your own adventure' type novel. Or a parody.
I could definitely see a DA dating sim game work. You could either have it as a parody, or have it like an interactive fanfic.

I love dating sims. Some are really dull and fluffy but a lot are totally insane. They are great as a "laptop in bed" games.
Regarding dragon age sim: "Shut up and Stick it in" for blackwall and the self-torment meter is hilarious.

It's more like playing a text-dependent game largely devoid of combat in the traditional sense. Social combat or cunning/ charm/ intellect/ wisdom rolls. You could probably throw intimidate in there too. There is definitely still a plot and stuff to do - but you could probably solve the whole thing sans a fighting combat system.

Hell, all it took was me drawing Abelas in a hot spring and I totally jumped ships. And I will ride it. Straight into one of Ghilal'nain's undersea horrors.
I won't lie... I'd need a ton, and I mean a ton of convincing to play something like this, and if it was anything like those japanese dating games with people calling me sempai n' such... I would never touch it, not with iron bull's junk wrapped in two dragon skins enchanted with grandmaster cleansing runes

And once you unlock the bonus storyline (you know what that is), you'll never look at the game the same way again. (Though I guess the same could be said when you date the Doctor *wink wink*.)
If I were to do it, I would probably ban all instances where the word "sempai" could be used. Although I love to make fun of naive Wardens who are all excited when Duncan comes along and go "Ahhh! Duncan-sempai! Take me to the Deep Roads!"
