I'm don't think Trevor Morris had much to do with that track, it has also been used in trailers for Guardians Of The Galaxy and Godzilla. It's from a music production company called 'Hi-Finesse' whom are based in Santa Monica, California. Trevor Morris is based in Canada. So I highly doubt it will be in the game, just as none of Two Steps From Hell's tracks were in any of the Mass Effect games.

I've got to the point now where I don't really mind what his character is.   He can be extrovert or introvert, the life and soul of a party or a reclusive intellectual.   Fact is he is an elf and I'm a sucker for elves but have gone off Sera a bit after reading about her reaction to Cole.    Still, since I will be playing an elf, any elf support would be appreciated.   Humans do seem to be in the majority among the followers, so I want to ensure that this time round us elves get a good bit of attention and the Inquisitor doesn't get shorn of her ears at some future date to make her legend more acceptable.     I am holding Varric responsible to ensure that when the tale of the Inquisitor is told he emphasises that "THE ELF MAGE SAVED THE DAY WITH THE AID OF HER ELVEN FRIENDS".  If I can also romance him, so much the better

Okay what I think he will be/be in others eyes as well. I think he will really be the brains of the Inquisition. As he's the rift expert. I'd imagine his room almost being like a library with mountains of books XD

As some have said socially awkward but not like he can't talk to people he just doesn't trust easily and can act cold to those who try to speak of something without the knowledge to speak about it/complain. 

 

That's why I thought BlueFlame527 banter was so flawless. Sera tried to speak ill about something she  knows nothing about, so he became defensive.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this previously but if the spirit of Shartan was an accurate representation of how he looked, then he was bald too.   Could be just coincidence, I know, but interesting just the same.    Funnily enough Shartan is someone I've always wanted to know more about too.   It's odd but seeing as he was such a great elven hero, you'd think the Dalish would revere him much more and have stories to tell about him.   It's almost as if he was as much an embarrassment to them, for working with humans, as he is to the Chantry.   After all they go on and on about elven gods, who abandoned them and yet give only a passing reference to an honest to goodness hero who fought for the freedom of his people.    Oh please let Solas know more about Shartan - that would really be a wish come true.

Inquisitor: knocks on door.  "Solas, can I come in?"

 

Solas: the sound of rustling paper is heard. "If you insist."

 

Inquisitor: Opens door.  "I do insist.  I had to stop Sera from using Cole as target practice at dinner tonight.  Isn't that usually your job?"

 

Solas:  "He can take care of himself."

 

Inquisitor:  "In a fight, maybe.  But he certainly isn't up to Sera's verbal assaults, she's flings adjectives as smoothly as arrows, and to no less effect.   Speaking of words, you have lapsed from taciturn to mute since Dorian joined us.  Care to tell me why?" 

 

Solas:  "No."

 

Inquisitor:  "If you have a problem with him I need to know.  Closing the rifts is going to take the whole team."  crosses room to look Solas directly in the eye.  "I need you at your best."

 

Solas:  pulls a thick, yellowed stack of papers from behind him and hands them to the Inquisitor.  "My thesis on the energy fluctuations associated with opening and closing fade rifts and the influence of magical manipulation in areas where the veil is thin on their spontaneous occurrence."

 

Inquisitor:  confused "What does this have to do with Dorian?"

 

Solas: "Nothing really."

 

Inquisitor: arches eyebrow "Nothing?"

 

Solas:  "There was an open seat in the Department of Fade Studies at the University in Vyrantium.  It was not as prestigious as the University in Minrathous so I thought I had a chance....  Humans never see past the ears, you know."

 

Inquisitor:  "I know.  I'm sorry, Solas.  If.... When this is all over, I promise I will work to change that."

I'm a big sucker for romances that run that way (Alistair and Fenris) where they initially just don't really know what to do with the fact that you like them. So they sort of sweetly stumble around it and then figure it out. Though I would prefer it not take three years this time.

I'm a fan of those types of romance as well, and it would definitely be adorable if Solas was like that.  I hear you on the three years thing though; when I did my first playthrough of DA2, I initially thought maybe Hawke and Fenris were 'together' after that first night and it just wasn't really mentioned, but then you get that conversation in his final romance scene where Hawke says 'you haven't spoken about it in three years' and I was just   (and my Hawke didn't even go to the Blooming Rose once, bless her  ).

(I hate the Tallis DLC. hate it hate it hate it.  it just decide to loop no matter what on the LAST loading before the final boss. ARGH!!! and of course my last save of DA2 before the DLC was...at the start of act 2!!!like thirteen ours of game ago!!!AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! I have to re-do second act all over again!!!     damn...this second run is a nightmare...)

Yes. Yeeess. Sand was a snide little bastard, but I loved the character. Not sure if he would have made for the best romance, but I wanted him over Bishop and Casavir. I really couldn't get to liking either of those two. It will probably be my lot in this game too, but we'll see. All the characters seem so interesting and unique this time around, it's going to be awesome either way.

 

But... witty barbs and banter? Sign me the hell on up.

NOOOOO, ugh I feel your pain   I just had to reload the beginning of Act 3 because I'm ridiculously perfectionist and forgot to pick up the items for Fenris and Varric's little personal quests in MotA, but that's nowhere near as bad as having to redo thirteen hours worth 

 

Re: the food thing, I know the devs said we shouldn't put too much stock in it, but the candied peppers thing is one of the things that interests me most about Solas.  I've never played NWN, but sweet-snarky would be perfect for him

I think it was mentioned before, actually (sorry!    ) but... to me he actually doesn't look that old - maybe 30?  Though he could certainly be older, as elves are supposed to have longer lifespans so they probably age better.  Still, he looks about the same age, maybe even younger, to me as Zevran (Origins Zevran... not that alien with the same name in DA2).  Hard to say though.

 

Also, somehow I missed that image of his different in-game outfits.  Seems the so-called 'long johns' in those initial screens are just the bottom layer of an outfit they weren't done modeling yet.  I'm really loving the layered rags and furs he's sporting in the concept art.  Reminds me a bit of the Chasind robes in Origins - makes me wonder if he did in fact spend some time among them.  Would be pretty cool, since we haven't had much insight into that particular group beyond hearsay and codex entries.

I know.  I'm going to Corfu for a week starting tomorrow and while I know I should technically be like yay holiday, I'm mainly like fuuuuu I want the Solas info.  FEEL BAD FOR ME , GUYS     The minute I get home I'm going to be logging straight onto this thread for the good stuff

haha! I would check my phone but am terrified of accidentally bankrupting myself with international charges   I think bursting into an internet cafe with 'let me pass! I am on essential bald elf inquisition business!!' is the way to go

On I believe you misunderstood me. I was expressing my surprise at calling it flawless. Though I am glad you liked it.

 

You do have a good point on the longer lifespan. I think I may change my answer to...early 30s maybe. Guess we'll find out when we get more information on Solas or get the game.

Those banters are awesome, guys! And the personality you imagine him with is the one I'm leaning towards also!

 

I definitely think he's going to be super smart. It makes me wonder how he'll deal with Dorian, who is also apparently super smart. It depends on whether or not they like each other, of course, but I can picture them getting into debates either way!

 

Edit: Do elves really have longer lifespans anymore? I thought they didn't.
