I would accept bladed staff! Basically a polearm with all the blades you stick on it. Ideally you should have a choice. The appeal of a spellblade is being a mage that goes into melee territory, usually wearing medium or heavy armor. 

 

I don't follow? In DAI with the right materials you can craft any sort of armour for fhe Quizzy to wear and by default a mage wears leather armour. The traditional robes aren't an option.

Side note, I was looking at my own shots of this scene and the grass wasn't there. Apparently that's been 'shopped in. I've seen the GIF so much that that version is ingrained as the real one.

I was WONDERING about the grass?? I've seen several versions and the grass always moves around.....glad to know this now.

I know this is late, but I like the short hair.

My first lady!Lavellan, had the "shaved-on-the-side-braid-thing", and I used two different longer(ish) styles for my other two Elven Quizzies. But! My latest Lavellan, is also sporting that Krem-do, and I think it works. Hmph! So I say...stick with the short!

And here is my latest, Bronte Lavellan, with the same mane.

I leave it on so I can cover Solas/ Cole with Mage Cowls....I never wear a helmet ever. The stats aren't worth it anyways. Unless you make your own, but who got time for that...

 

The only times I turned off "hide helmet" is so that I could admire Solas wearing the mage cowl. xD I finally managed to loot a Battlemage Cowl from one of the chests in Caer Oswin and put it on him. He looks so good! And it's never leaving his shiny bald head!

Though I will occasionally turn on "hide helmets" from time to time because, seriously, a lot of the head gear look awful!

As much as I love my sword and shield Arcane Warrior Surana with his huge oversized armor, I also love my zippy little Knight Enchanter Lavellans with lighter armors.  I've also always wanted to be able to use both a staff and sword at once, Gandalf style, and DA:I answered that. (Yay for lightsabers)    With Surana, it always bugged me that I couldn't equip both.  I also liked the idea of a sword being a focus like a staff, but considering the single sword like that from DA:O was ancient elven in origin, and possibly couldn't be reproduced, they might be too difficult to come by.   I also really love bladed staffs, and being able to melee with them like in DA2.

 

Um...in general, I just like a lot of different things.     Melee hybrid mages are just fun all around.

 

Oh, and about that First Blight codex that was discussed earlier.  If anyone still wants to see it, I had a save right before the Fade, and I ran in there to find it.

Memories Etched in Stone and Blood

I made the expected offerings this morning, but the gods remained silent.  The priests are frightened.  All of Tevinter is frightened.  Our gods have led our people for centuries.  Now, they have gone still.  Are we alone here in this world, no better than the savages to the south who beg for guidance from spirits?  And what of the strange creatures who come from underground, like our friends the dwarves?  These spawn of the darkness and the plague they carry...  Why do our gods not protect us from this?

Now the ground shakes.  The statue cuts my hand as I fall against it.  A great roar sounds.  It is massive, shaking the temple market, and I see the silhouette cut the sky.  It is a dragon.  No, it is Dumat!  I have made the offerings so many times--his form is as familiar as my own hand.  He has returned in glory to destroy these darkspawn that threaten us, to lead Tevinter back to an age of glory and wonder!

But no, his scales are sickly and mottled, his form twisted and corrupt, like the darkspawn themselves.  He opens his great maw, and fire billows forth, igniting the market.

The flames rush toward me.

What did we do wrong?

I believe this should work.

Nothing too exciting yet. Trying to steal enough neighboring counties that aren't under the protection of a duke so that I can form my own dukedom. Hopefully good old Charlie the Soon To Be Great won't appoint some other count over me as duke.

I believe once I get three duchies, which will be dicey, admittedly, I should be able to go independent and form my own kingdom in the chaos after Charlemagne' death. The chaos of the Succession Wars between all of the Karlings will provide my opening. As the Carolingian Empire falls, Orlais will rise.

Naturally, I'm already hurtling towards my own Gavelkind disaster. Lambert Valmont is a lustful, lustful Orlesian, but he and his Lombard wife are devoted to each other. This means they've had three kids in about five years. Here's hoping Elective Succession doesn't screw me over. 

 If Orlais rises too quickly, after a few decades of screwing around as an ultra-powerful Emperor, and making sure everything is nice and steady, I'll make a customized Colonel Killabee as a Viking Jarl to destroy the empire.

Crusader Kings II. I believe I've mentioned it a few times on this thread, as I've made several attempts at creating DA dynasties in it.

With the right DLC, you can customize characters and dynasties, and even kingdoms and empires. Currently I'm using the early French to create the Orlesian Empire, complete with Charlemagne himself standing in for the Drakon family rivalry.

It also lets you switch between characters if you don't mind skipping out on Achievement viability. So I could create a customized Lambert Valmont, claw my way to power, stabilize the realm, then create Colonel Killabee of the Stormcloak Dynasty, Jarl of Oppenheim, to raid and eventually tear it down.

EDIT: This game is basically crack for me.

That dialogue made me not want to meet the other elven gods when I heard it. Must've been a regular bunch of tools.

 

And now that I think on it, it makes me consider the possibility of them all just being powerful mages who got "godly" after defeating the creators, like what I think Mims or Caddius was saying earlier, and then they let their power go to their head, causing all these issues, including the taint's release, which made them necessary to seal away.
