I feel like the Inquisitor's that punched Solas may come to regret it.

Also I was considering the massive restraint Solas shows in that scene. Even as "weak" as he is I'm sure he knows a spell that could melt Quizzy's face off.

But he restrains himself in a moment of rage in order to finish the job at hand. Only when it's finished can he exact his wrath.

Totally turned on now.

I viewed that differently.  I think he views that Inquisitor as completely beneath him.  The punch was petty and returning would be equally as petty and Solas is anything but.  Getting into a brawling match over a disagreement of opinions is not his style.  I don't think he's particularly angry - just disgusted.

I think the Inquisitor will regret it, though,  because I have a feeling the Inquisition is going to start collapsing under its own weight and Solas may tangentially be involved. I think a friendmanced/romanced Inquisitor he might have sympathy and help. I think with a rivaled Inquisitor he's just going to relish watching them flail over their abuse of power.

I kind of want to see Solas as a villain now just to see how you'll react to it

Turned On x10000.

Off topic: why do people eat their soup so *disgusted noise* loud and gross? There are people here in the break room totally ruining my mood. So gross.

I really hope there is some sort of comeuppance for the Assquisitors. I posit that anyone that would punch someone for what they say is an ass(quisitor).

It's interesting, right? Though Solas does yell quite a bit in the actual conversation, it's interesting to note his voice is cool again after being punched. He is a mage of considerable power even in his diminished state, and perhaps an Inquisitor who receives that conversation deserves a bit of blasting. I was actually stunned initially to find it existed; how do you even get him that angry? But compare this to his reaction when his friend is corrupted and killed. That entire scene, he's practically seething rage and if you allow him, boom! He incinerates the lot. Because of this (and what he says during both conversations) the Inquisitor seems to be an instance where he's just disappointed yet unsurprised and in control. This person is just another messed up, cruel, callous individual in a world he views to be so. His real rage seems to come out for unbridled emotional pain, something he can't control.

Still, if we get a DLC or DA4 with Fen'Harel reveal to the Inquisitor, the first thing I'll be searching in YouTube will be the face of an Inquisitor who punched him.

Hey man, I love angry Solas as much as the next girl. His "anger" over Sera and her flailing attempts at rebellion...gimme gimme!  I would not love "angry" solas getting in squabbles over semantics and disagreements of philosophy.  It'd be like dating a giant whining fedora. PASS SO HARD ON THAT ONE. I would have broken up with him like 2 hours in as he's screeching "EXCUSE ME! IF I MAY INTERJECT..." Gross.

You know, when I first played DAI, I thought the Skyhold upgrades were gonna be like how you upgraded the Normandy in ME2 (or upgrading Vigil's Keep in Awakening) in the sense that  you'll need those upgrades to defend yourself against something big and bad. I was a bit disappointed that that didn't happen. Maybe we'll get something like that in the expansion/DLC? We have this huge fortress and it was kind of a wasted opportunity. :(

Skyhold, finally repaired and properly fortified, getting attacked by awakened Blighted elven gods.

Do want.

I too, was disappointed in the way the "Upgrades" for Skyhold worked (if you can call them "working" pft)  When I picked garden, I wanted to see rows and rows and rows AND ROWS of potted plants.  Also, no Chantry sisters /kicks.  I mean, Mother Giselle can hang, but, as long as she gets to work watering dem plants.

The same is said for Power.  I have SO. MUCH. POWER.  Like, why?  Why do I have all this Power?!  I wanted there to be giant ass expenses that required the massive amounts of Power I gathered (because I can't leave a map unfinished, I CAN'T YOU GUYS, sowut...), I wanted to spend it on like, moving my armies into still-too-dangerous territories, or to get state-of-the-art training or... I don't know, a giant statue of my Levellan's booty. SOMETHING.

I hope that future DLC could possibly address this, because it just seems silly to go through all of that effort, to have no real return.  Other than a self-high five or pat on the back... as much fun as those are...

Unless they are an elf, there's a good chance an Assquisitor would be like:

Solas: I am Fen'Harel.

Assquisitor: Yeah, I have no idea who that is.

Ultimately though, I think the player character will probably succeed. Just because of the nature of how games are played. So if you do want to go the route of being Solas's enemy, I'm sure they'd allow you to do so by either killing him or destroying his plans.

This is exactly how I imagined Solas being in a relationship, lol. I think he still could if you don't agree with what it is he's saying, if it's related to spirits and it gets heated enough.

I never meant to say you were gross.  I apologize if you took it that way, wasn't my intent.  I was saying that "Fedora wearing" Solas would be gross.  It wasn't meant to be a dig at you in any way shape or form. I actually agree with you - angry solas is hot.  I just interpreted that scene different is all.

Avejajed ain't no sissy. I don't think you have to apologize so much. It's sufficient just to say, "Jup, that's me, I'm a charmer".

Yeah, but add a "An elven god" line and a small show of power, and hilarity ensues. Even better, if the Inquisitor meets Solas while he's doing his godly business (not related to elven glory business, you naughty minds)

Of course I agree, the player character will succeed; I don't think BW will punish the player so hard just for confronting one NPC, even physically.

Sappy off-topic moment: I began drawing almost before I learned to walk, I stopped drawing in my teens because I became self-conscious and ashamed of my drawings poor quality. I am about to grab a few screenshots from my tv and try to draw my Gwynn Lavellan. Of course I'm no match to the wonderful artists here, but I wanted to thank you for helping me recover this very important part of me.

I don't know. If we get another protagonist in DA4 and we have to go through another disappearing act, "Killed by Fen'Harel" works pretty well as an excuse. Gives the new protagonist more motivation too, if Solas then becomes the villain.

I know what you meant, but I couldn't help thinking of a timed mission where the new protagonist's first goal is "Don't Get Killed by Fen'Harel."

I dunno.  Hawke did a lot of things in DA2...and I'm not sure how many of them counted as "succeeding."  :D

Personally, I liked the deconstruction they did in DA2, the idea that sometimes even an extraordinary individual can fail.  Yes, in terms of the narrative, there wasn't a lot of player control over the events of the game.  Leandra always dies, the Arishok always goes nuclear, the mage-templar war always ignites.  But it made for some really, really interesting roleplaying reacting to all the crazy s*** that happens to poor Hawke.  I kind of miss that; the Inquisitor is more of a classic hero, and that's great, but I miss how DA2 shook up the formula, so to speak.

I have this gut-feeling that Solas will be a non-villain antagonist... if that makes sense?  I don't think his true intentions are going to be made CRYSTAL clear, and that ambiguity, that "grey-area" will cause him to look like the bad guy.  Part of my crazy brain likes to think him and Merrill will get linked up, too.  ELVEN GLORY!

I for one would disagree with derp Solas... okay so he gave his orb to Cornflakes, but we are wholly unaware of the precise circumstances in which that happened.

On the other hand look what the the guy has done… Re the old gods and the nameless ones.

As regards future screw ups perhaps it would be better if we all reserved judgement.
